C. Franck의 prelude, choral et fugue 중 fugue 부분에 대한 분석 연구

Abstract

Ce´sar Franck, a romantist lived in the latter half of the 19th century, was a composer who pursued new method of French music through the use of harmony and freer structure. His music shows various characteristics; it's reflected the tendency of W.R. Wagner and L.H. Berlioz but on the other hand of J.S. Bach and L. Van. Beethoven. At last his fundamental ideas on music are established in the classical style, but full of Modernism in freer use of hormony and structure. But his explaination was scarcely given an applause in those days. With this musical backgrounds Franck's fugue which presented new aspects, especially its form and structure, was studied, And through Franck's life his domestic circumstances and musical training are studied with the entering process of musical world, the view of his music, and etc. In the characteristics of his music especially the cyclic form, the most peculiar element among the forms of proceeding his musical piece, is studied especially through 'Violin Sonata A major', 'Symphony d minor' and 'Symphonic Variation'. And in addition to these peculiarity of musical form the representative works, organ music, symphonic poem, chamber music and songs, are analized. In this paper fugue only is analized, which is included in 'Prelude, choral et fugue' known as the most representative music among his piano pieces. In this works he tried to free form the traditional fugue form, and at the same time to unite Bach's unique and individual form by respecting his basic tradition. Thus Franck's fugue has an important position as a work represented the modern romantic fugue.;19세기 후기 낭만파에 속하는 Ce´sar Franck는 보다 자유로운 구성과 화성의 움직임을 통해 프랑스에 새로운 음악의 방향을 모색해 나간 작곡가이다. 그의 음악에는 당시의 작곡가인 W.R.Wagner와 L.H.Berlioz의 고정 관념을 통해서 볼 수 있는 경향이 반영되고는 있지만 다른 한편으로 그의 음악은 J.S.Bach와 L.Van.Beethoven의 음악에서도 영향을 바아서 다각적인 양상을 보여주고 있다. 결국 그의 음악의 기본 이념은 고전적인 흐름속에 구축되어 있긴 하나 화성이나 구성상의 자유로운 시도에 있어서는 Modernism으로 가득 차 있다. 그러나 그러한 그의 시도는 당대에는 거의 공감을 받지 못하였다. 여기서는 이러한 그의 음악적 배경속에서 특히 그 형식 및 구성면에서 새로운 일면을 제시한 프랑크의 fugue를 중심으로 연구하였다. 또한 프랑크의 생애를 통해 그의 가정 환경과 음악교육 음악계로의 등장 가정 그의 음악관등을 살펴보았고 그의 음악의 특징에서는 특히 악곡전개의 형식중 가장 특징적 요소인 순환형식을 알아보고 그 예가 가장 잘 나타난 작품인 'Violin Sonata A장조', 'Symphony d단조', 'Symphonic Variation'의 3곡을 통해서 그 구성을 간략하게 알아보고 동시에 그러한 음악 형식상의 특징외에 각 분야별의 대표적 작품인 오르간 음악, 교향시, 실내악 가곡 등을 살펴 보았다. 그리고 작품 분석에 있어서는 프랑크의 피아노 음악 가운데 가장 대표적인 곡으로 꼽히고 있는 "Prelude, choral et fugue"중 특히 fugue부분을 중심으로 분석해 나갔는데 여기서는 이제까지의 전통적 fugue형식에서 벗어난 자유로운 시도를 구사하면서 동시에 Bach의 기본적 전통을 존중함으로써 그의 독자적이고도 개성적인 형식을 훌륭하게 융합시키고 있다. 그리하여 프랑크의 fugue는 근대 낭만 fugue을 대표하는 작품으로서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다고 하겠다.
