「無情」과 「血의 淚」의 對比硏究

Abstract

우리 小說史에서 近代는 매우 중요한 意味를 차지한다. 近代小說은 近代社會의 成立과 밀접한 관련 속에서 성립되었고 前代小說과는 확연히 다른 새로운 문학형태로서의 小說이기 때문이다. 이에 필자는 「無情」과 新小說 「血의淚」의 작품 대비를 통해서 표현형태의 변화되는 양상을 구체적으로 제시하고 「無情」이 성취한 근대소설의 면모를 검증해 보고자 한다. 構成的 측면을 중심으로 두 小說의 구체적인 대비는 다음과 같은 결론을 얻게 되었다. 첫째, 作中人物의 설정과 성격묘사 그리고 그 인물들의 태도 변화에 초점을 맞추고 보았을 때, 「血의淚」의 여주인공이 수동적인 여성으로 묘사되어 의식이나 행위에 아무런 변화가 없는 고정성을 지닌다. 남주인공들의 경우 행위의 구체적인 전개가 없이 관념성만 돌출되며, 새로운 인물로서의 변모과정은 기대될 수 없다. 반면에, 「無情」의 인물들은 비교적 객관적이고 구체적인 묘사를 획득하여 양면적 의식을 지닌 인물로서의 유동성이나 의식의 변화, 발전적 양상이 분명하게 드러난다. 특히 분석적인 심리묘사에 의한 심리변화가 상세하다. 이것은 「血의淚」의 경우 사건이 강조되고 인물 간의 관계나 인물의 성격화가 모두 사건의 전개를 위해 설정되었기 때문이고 「無情」에서는 사건의 전개와 각 個人의 내적인 변화가 동시에 진행되고 있다는 데서 오는 차이이다. 둘째, 플롯에서는 사건이 어떠한 시간관에 의해 어떻게 구성되는가를 중심으로 살펴보았을 때, 「血의淚」는 사건의 전개가 자연적 시간의 흐름에 따라 순차적으로 발생되고 해결되는 반면 「無情」에서는 객관적 구조를 근간으로 인물들의 심리와 내면의식에 의한 경험적 시간 속에서 사건이 조항 혹은 재구성되는 양상을 보여준다. 「血의淚」의 경우 사건의 중요시는 서사적 시간에 비해 서술된 시간이 비약적으로 단축되거나 편중되는 경향을 보여준다. 특히 편중된 사건의 서술은 고난의 심화과정에서 두드러 진다. 「無情」에서는 사건전개의 基本情況을 설정하는 발단 부분에 사건의 재구성이 강조되고 있으며 절정에서 또한 집중적으로 조합된다. 이러한 과거, 현재, 미래라는 시간과 재구성은 기억과 연상작용에 의한 것이므로 소설의 내면화 경향이라는 근대소설의 특성이 드러난다. 또한 매우 짧은 서사적 시간에 비해서 기억과 연상에 따른 서술된 시간의 연장은 時間伸長的인 근대소설의 특성이라고 할 수 있다. 세째, 배경에는 사실적 기能과 상징적 기능이 있는데 그것이 어느정도 작용하고 있는지를 살펴 볼 때, 「血의淚」에서는 배경이 사건의 전개에 주요한 요인이 되고 있으며, 공간적, 시간적 배경의 상징성도 두드러지지만 묘사에 있어 사실성이 부족하다고 하겠다. 반면에 「無情」에서는 배경이 객관적, 구체적으로 묘사됨으로써 현실감을 얻고 있으며, 인물의 정신상태의 표현에 까지 배경의 상징성이 강화되어 작용하고 있다.;First, when we focus on the establishment of characters in novel, the description of their characters, and the change in their attitudes, we will realize that there is rigidity in consciousness and attitudes in "HYUL UI NU". Because hereine in "HYUL UI NU" is described as a passive woman subject to her fortune. In case of heroes we cannot find any concrete development in their attitudes and only their conceptions are eminent, so the process of change to a new character cannot be expected. Meanwhile, characters in "MUJEONG" are so objective and their description is so concrete that flexibility of characters represented as double-minded, change in consciousness, and progressive aspects show up clearly. In particular, psychological change is described concretely by psychoanalytic method. The reason is that in "HYUL UI NU" events are stressed and relationship between characters and personality are established for the development of events, meanwhile in "MUJEONG" the development of events and internal change in individual characters are being done simultaneously. Second, when we are concerned by what kind of viewpoint in time events are plotted, we come to know, these facts. In "MUJEOUNG" the development of events are lessened or preponderated. In particular, description of preponderated event is outstanding in the process of deepening hardships. In "MUJEOUNG" replot of events is stressed in the introductory part which establishes basic situation of event development and is concentrated in climax. Rearrangement of past, present, and future and replot are done by memory and association, so the characteristics of modern novel, which has the tendency toward inward in characters, appears. Another characteristic that modern novel has is that the time distributed to describing by memory and association is longer than that for eventual time. Third, there are actual and symbolic function in setting. When we look into how much they have influence on them, in "HYUL UI NU" setting was important factor in event development, but symbolism in space and time setting is outstanding and actuality in description lacks. In "MUJEOUNG" setting is described with objective, and concrete way, so it gets feeling of actuality, and symbolism in setting is enforced to work on the expression of mental status of characters.;국 영문초록 수록
