Abstract
The purpose of the study was to find out the conflict of expectations between the faculty and administrator, which respect to the faculty's academic role playing. Based on theoretical background, the faculty's role was classified into research, teaching and social services. This study was done by sending out the questionnaire, which was mainly of various sorts of difficulties within the faculty's role playing in each field. The selected variables for the questionnaire were: Whether he (or she) was in the Administrative post or not, academic field, the academic rank, etc. And the main subjects were as follows: 1) Research: research conditions in the university, research funds, research facilities, appraisal system of the research. 2) teaching: teaching load, teaching of the large-scale classes, relations between the undergraduate and the graduate course, curriculum, student evaluation, faculty's teaching evaluation, 3) Social services: student guidance, committee activities, administrative post, academic committee activities, services in the professional field. The subjects of this research were Instructor, Assistant professor, Associate professor, and full professor of the universities located in Seoul. And the datum were taken statistics and then the mean of the various groups was figured out to be compared. Next, the mean was figured out and the F Verification which is 5% in attention rate was adopted. The results of the research were as follows. 1. Research The meaningful difference that occurred in the comparison of whether he (or she) was in the administeative post or not was brought out from the questions about the research progress and research funds. In the comparison of academic field, the meaningful difference arose from the questions about the decision-making on fund supply, fund regulations, fairness in appraisal system, and the necessity for the sabbatical leave system. As to the variables concerning academic rank, there wasn't meaningful difference found. 2. Teaching The conflict which arose from the comparison of whether he (or she) was in the Administrative post or not, were the control of the lecture problem such as the curriculum, and the necessity of faculty's teaching evaluation. In the variables of academic field, the conflict arose from the question whether he (or she) has the right to change teaching schedule or not. As to the variables concerning academic rank, there wasn't any conflict found. 3. Social services The questions that arose the conflict in the comparison of whether he (or she) was in the administrative post or not, were the problem student counseling, democratical management of the academic committee, and the faculty's industrial services. In the comparison of academic field, the conflict arose within the counseling of problem student, and the appointment to the administrative post. As to the variable concerning academic rank, the conflict arose within the democratical management of the academic committee, and the academic activities. As a results of analyzing the variables of above mentioned fields, the questions which had the meaningful difference and arose the conflict didn't have the different kind of opinion or stand in the different point of view. It is merely that there were some amount of numeral difference among the groups.;本 硏究는 大學에서 敎授의 役割遂行上 나타나는 敎授와 行政家間의 期待의 葛藤現象을 찾아보는 데 그 目的이 있다. 이러한 目的으로 國內·外 關係文獻·定期刊行物·新聞等을 通하여 大學敎授의 役割에 關한 理論的 背景을 敍述하였다. 理論的 背景에 따라 大學敎授의 基本役割을 硏究·敎授·社會 奉仕로 보고, 이들 各各의 分野에서 多樣하게 나타나는 敎授의 役割遂行上의 問題點을 中心으로 質問紙를 作成하여 調査硏究를 實施하였다. 質問紙에서 變因으로는 行政補職의 有無·學問分野·職位等이 고려되었으며, 주로 다루어지는 問題들은 다음과 같다. ① 硏究分野 : 大學의 硏究活動狀況·硏究費·硏究施設·硏究時間·硏究業績評價·敎授在任用制度 ② 敎授分野 : 講義時間負擔·大單位授業·學部와 大學院敎育의 關係·敎科課程·學生評價·敎授評價制 ③ 社會奉仕分野 : 學生指導·委員會活動·行政補職就任·學會活動·專門職奉仕 調査硏究는 서울特別市 所在 4年制 大學의 專任講師以上인 現職敎授를 對象으로 實施하였으며 蒐集된 資料는 統計處理하여 變因別 集團間의 平均點을 産出하여 點數次를 比較하였으며, 5%수준에서 F검증을 通해 有意度를 살펴보았다. 調査硏究에 대한 分析結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 硏究分野 行政補職 有無別 比較에서 有意한 差를 내는 것은 現在 大學의 硏究活動 進行程度와 硏究費 支給程度에 對한 問項들이었다. 學問分野別 比較에서는 硏究費 支給決定, 硏究費 調整問題, 硏究業績評價의 公正性, 安息年制度의 必要性等에서 有意한 差를 내며 葛藤現象을 나타내고 있다. 職位別 變因에서는 有意한 差를 내는 葛藤現象이 나타나지 않았다. 2. 敎授分野 行政補職 有意別 比較에서 葛藤現象을 나타내는 것은 敎科課程等 講義問題調整과 敎授에 대한 評價의 必要性等이다. 學問分野別 變因에서는 講義計劃 變更에 대한 敎授裁量의 與否에 對해 葛藤을 나타내며, 職位別 變因에서는 葛藤現象이 전혀 나타나지 않았다. 3. 社會奉仕 分野 行政補職 有無別 比較에서 葛藤現象을 나타내는 것은 問題學生 面談·學內委員會의 民主的 運營, 敎授의 企業體 參與等이다. 學問分野別 比較에서는 問題學生面談, 行政補職就任에 대해 葛藤現象이 나타났다. 職位別 變因에서는 學內委員會의 民主的 運營 및 學會活動에 대해 葛藤現象이 나타나고 있다. 以上의 各 分野에서 變因別로 分析한 結果 有意한 差를 내며 葛藤現象이 나타나는 問項도 大部分 集團間에 多少의 點數差를 보이는 정도일 뿐 立場이나 見解를 달리하는 것은 아니었다.
