Abstract
본 연구에서는 실험장치로 사용한 Fabry-Perot interferometer의 성능을 먼저 알아보았고, 실용상의 응용으로써 CO_(2)-gas의 굴절률을 측정해 보았다. 광원으로는 파장이 546Å인 고압수은등을 사용하였고 etalon plate는 지름 26.4mm, 두께 6.5mm인 synthetic silica에 aluminum을 입힌것을 사용하였다. 성능실험 결과 본 간섭계는 281723이라는 고분해능, 장치폭 (apparatus width) ^(△v)d와 반치폭 (half-value width) A(1)/(2)δ의 일치성, 그리고 pinhole의 유효지름에 대한 이론치와 사용치의 일치성등을 보여줌을 알 수 있었다. 이런 정도의 성능을 가진 간섭계이면 기체의 굴절률 정밀측정은 물론 spectral line의 초미세구조 (hyperfine structure) 연구에도 사용할수 있다. CO_(2) 굴절률 측정시 간섭무늬의 지름은 camera로 찍어 유동현미경으로 측정하였으며, CO_(2)-gas가 진공상자안으로 유입할때 P.M.tube앞에 설치된 slit를 통과하는 이동수는 strip chart recorder에 기록되었다. 이때 진공도는 거의 0.5mmHg까지 유지시킬수 있었고, CO_(2)-gas의 굴절률은 760∼700mmHg 범위 안에서 측정하였다. 측정결과 CO_(2)-gas의 굴절률은 18.5℃, 753mmHg에서 n = 1.000392가 되었고, 국제분광학회의에서 채택한 값은 0℃, 760mmHg에서 n_(t) = 1.000450 이었다.;This study was performed to examine the precision of the Fabry-Perot interferometer, which has used here, and to measure the index of refraction of CO_(2)-gas as a practical use. A high pressure Hg-lamp with 5461Å-wavelength used as a light source and two etalon reflectors were made of synthetic silicas (diameter : 26.4mm, thickness: 6.5mm, reflectance: 85%) overcoated with aluminium. Results obtained from the precision test are (1) higher order resolving power than other interferometers, (2) good agreement between theoretical and experimental results in the effective diameter of a pinhole, (3) agreement between apparatus width and half-value width. With this level the interferometer could be used for not only the measurement of the index of a gas but the study of hyperfine structure of a singlet spectral line. In a process of experiment, a traveling microscope was employed for measurement of the diameter of the interference fringes. The number of fringes moving past the small circular slit in front of the photomultiplier tube as the CO_(2)-gas leaks slowly into the chamber was recorded on the strip chart recorder. The degree of vacuum went down to 0.5mmHg by a rotary pump. The index of refraction of CO_(2)-gas was measured in range of pressure of gas from 760mmHg to 700mmHg. As a result the index of refraction of CO_(2)-gas n = 1.000392 was obtained at 18.5℃, 75.3mmHg. In the International Spectroscopy Council, the index of refraction of CO_(2)-gas n = 1.000450 was adopted at 0℃, 760mmHg.
