Abstract

오토리노·레스피기(Ottorino Respighi, 1879-1936)는 20세기 이탈리아 음악계의 주축을 이룬 作曲家이다. Respighi의 중요한 공헌은 오페라의 나라인 이탈리아에 그의 시대에 이르러 순수하게 예술적인 가곡을 발전시킨 점이며, 또한 20세기 초에 있었던 기악부흥운동을 주도하여 이탈리아 현대기악 음악의 발전에도 크게 기여하였다. 그의 作品은, 과거의 이탈리아 음악을 복원하고자 하는 민족주의적이며 고전주의적인 그의 음악정신과, 여기에 현대적인 음악감각 및 표현기법이 융화되어 절충적이면서도 독특한 성격을 지니고 있다. 또한 그의 作品속에서 그레고리오 성가와 교회선법등이 사용되어 현대적인 부활을 보이고 있음은, 이탈리아 전통음악의 재인식이라는 점에서 볼 때 후대의 이탈리아 작곡가들에게 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 따라서 Respighi의 作品은, 技法的인 면에서 각별히 혁신적인 점을 찾기보다, 이탈리아 음악의 발전 및 근대와 현대의 교량역할을 하였다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 그가 창작기에 절정에 있을 때 作曲된 60여 곡의 歌曲들은 이탈리아 음악에 흐르는 전통적인 선율성과 아름다운 서정이 넘치는 특유의 매력을 지니고 있다. 그러나 무엇보다도 그의 歌曲은 그 詩情을 표현하는 데 있어서, 지금까지의 歌曲들에서 볼 수 있던 오페라의 아리아적 성격에서 벗어나 새로운 형식으로 작곡되었다는 점에 중요성이 있으며, 그는 오늘날, 이탈리아 가곡의 중흥과 가곡형식의 새로운 경향을 추구한 선구자로 간주되고 있다. 本 論文에서는 1921년에 작곡된 <Quattro Liriche>를 중심으로 그의 음악정신 및 가곡에 나타난 특징에 대하여 考察하고자 한다. <Quattro Liriche>는 Armenia 지방의 수집된 詩를 바탕으로 작곡되었으며, Respighi는 그 나름대로의 독특한 음악적 방법으로 단순한 형식위에 함축된 詩想을 잘 표현하고 있다. 이 연구를 통해 Respighi의 가곡에 나타난 복합적인 기법과 그의 내면적인 음악세계 및 현대 이탈리아 음악사에서 그의 가곡이 갖는 예술적·역사적 가치에 대하여 이해할 수 있었으며, 또한 이탈리아 가곡의 역사적 흐름에 대해 좀더 깊이 알 수 있는 계기가 되었다.;Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) is actually the most famous composer in the twentieth-century Italian musical commumty. His most important contribution is that he has enabled Italy, the land of opera, to produce purely artistic song in his own days. Also he has made a remarkable contribution toward improving Italian modern instrumental music through the rehabilitate movement of instrumental music in the beginning of the twentieth century. With his musical spirits, national and classical, wanting to revive the Italian music of the past, and with both the modern musical sense and artistic presentation harmonized with the spirits, his works cherish the characteristics, unique as well as eclectic. Furthermore, the gregorian chant and the church mode being used and revived as a modern type in his works exert great influence to the Italian music composers later on, in regards of the new understanding of the Italian music, traditional. And so, the works of Respighi give more significance to the development of Italian music, and to the bridge role linking modern Italian music to that of the present days than to the special renovation in artistic presentation. Some sixty lieds composed by him at the peak time of his creative working have characteristic attraction full of traditional melodies and beautiful lyricism. First of all, his lieds were valuably composed in a new form which is different from that of his former lieds followed the style of Aria in Opera, in expressing the poetic feeling; and so today he is regarded as a forerunner for the revival of Italian lieds, and for new trend on the mode of the lied. On this thesis, his musical spirits and the characteristics of his lieds, expressed in his piece "Quattro Liriche" composed in the year of 1921, will be discussed. "Quattro Liriche" was composed with the poets collected in Armenian district. Respighi expresses well the abstracted thoughts of the poets in simple form with unique musical methods of his own. With this research, the compound artistic presentation in the Respighi's lieds, the innermost spirits of his music, and the worth, artistic and historical, of his lieds in modern history of Italy can be clearly understood. Also the historical current about the Italian lieds can be further appreciated on this research.
