韓國 磨製石劍의 性格

Abstract

본 연구는 磨製石劍의 分布와 起源, 製作, 造形性을 분석함으로써 마제석검의 歷史的 性格을 규명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 양식화된 마제석검은 한반도를 중심으로 집중적으로 발견되고 있기 때문에 양식화된 마제석검이 발견되는 지역은 오늘날 한민족의 선조들이 거주하던 영역이었거나 매우 많은 영향을 미친 지역이었을 것으로 추정된다. 왜냐하면 그 당시에 이미 양식화가 이루어졌다는 것은 오랜 세월, 같은 집단 내에서 전승되어 내려오는 기법과 전통이 있었음을 나타내 주기 때문이다. 마제석검의 등장배경으로 청동기시대의 생활의 분화와 계급의 분화를 들 수 있다. 마제석검은 실용품과 부장품으로 나누어지는데 처음에는 생활용구나 무기로 사용되던 것이 금속기가 발달됨에 따라 부장품으로서의 용도도 가지게 된 것으로 추정된다. 청동기시대의 분묘에는 마제석검을 비롯한 마제석촉, 무문토기 등의 부장품이 존재하는데 이를 통하여 청동기시대인들이 이미 내세관을 가지고 있었음을 알 수 있다. 마제석검의 뛰어난 형태는 그 기원을 매우 궁금하게 하고 있다. 지금까지 많은 학자들은 그 기원을 청동검에서 찾고 있다. 그러나 본인은 조금 다른 각도에서 살펴보고자 한다. 석검의 형태와 유사한 석창, 또는 마제석촉이 신석기시대부터 이미 존재하고 있기 때문에 석검의 형태가 단순히 청동검을 모방했다고만 보는 것은 再考의 여지가 있다고 생각한다. 마제석검은 형태가 거의 일정하고 돌과 돌을 갈아서 만들어야 했기 때문에 시간과 노력과 기술이 필요했을 것으로 추측된다. 만약 일반인들이 각자 필요에 의해서 제작하였다면 형태가 다양하였을 것인데, 일정한 형태를 가진 것으로 보아 마제석검의 제작만을 담당한 전문장인이 존재하였을 것으로 추측된다. 또한 마제석검의 조형성이 뛰어나다라고 생각한 필자의 견해를 검증하기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사 결과는 매우 긍정적이었다. 마제석검의 구조적 분석 결과 유추할 수 있는 역사적 성격으로 우선 마제석검은 농경을 생계 수단으로 했던 청동기시대인들의 일상 용구로서 그 기원은 신석기시대의 석기에서부터 찾을 수가 있으며, 생활용구에서 점차 부장용으로 용도가 변해간 것으로 추정된다. 그러한 원인으로는 청동기의 발달을 들 수 있다. 두번째로 이 당시에 이미 마제석검만을 만드는 전문장인이 존재하였음을 알 수 있으며, 그것을 통해 청동기시대의 사회 분화가 이루어졌음을 알 수 있다. 세번째로 마제석검의 조형성과 제작기술을 통해 우리민족의 뛰어난 예술감각이 일상용구인 마제석검에까지 발현되고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 석기제작 기술이 매우 뛰어났음을 짐작할 수 있다. 마지막으로 양식화된 마제석검의 분포지역을 통해서 마제석검은 한민족만이 가진 독창적인 유물이라고 볼 수 있겠다. 그래서 마제석검이 출토되는 지역은 한민족의 거주영역이었임을 유추할 수가 있을 것이고, 이미 그 당시에 민족의 동질성을 대표하는 상징으로서 마제석검이 부각될 수 있음을 주장한다.;This thesis is aimed at examinining the historical characteristics of stone daggers by analyzing their geographical range, origin productction and formativeness. As a result of examining the geographical range of them, we have come to know that they are chiefly found within Korean Peninsula. So it can naturally be inferred that the places where stylized stone daggers are found were the residence area of Korean ancestors or the area which their influence was predominant. The stylization of them in those times meant that there was long succession of techniques and tradition in community. The appearance of stone daggers originated from the differentiation of life and classes in Bronze Age. Stone daggers can be separated into two categories, such as utilitarian use and funeral use. It can be inferred that they have come to be used as burial accessories with the development of metal instruments. There exist in Bronze Age tombs such things as stone daggers, stone arrowheads, and unstriated earthenwares. This means that the people of the Bronze Age already had belief in the life to come after death. Stone daggers are exquisitely refined in their forms, sc not a few scholars tried to find their origin from bronze daggers. However, examined from a different perspective, it is quite problematic to regard the from of stone daggers as a mere imitation of bronze daggers ; stone spearheads or stone arrowheads similar to stone daggers in form had alredy existed from the Neolithic Period. It can be supposed that much effort and time had been necessary to refine the almost definite form of stone daggers ground with other stones. Furthermore, instand of having various forms which might have been the natural outcome produced out of individual needs, those daggers having the stylized and definite forms should have been made by specialist craftsmen dealing only with them. And in order to verify my perspective I carried out some questionnaires. From these analyses, I have presumed various facts . Firstly, stone daggers were daily instruments of the Bronze Age people who made their living with agriculture ; their purposes changed from daily necessity to accessories buried together in funeral, and they have their origin from the stone instruments of the Neolithic Period. Secondly, there existed some groups of specialist craftsmen who made only the stone knives, and from this we can infer that social defferentiation had already been perfromed in Bronze Age. Thirdly, examination into plasticity and technique in producing stone daggers show the exquisite sense of art of our Korean people. Lastly, from examining the geographical area of stylized stone daggers, we can judge that they were the unique and original relics of Korean people. Therefore, the areas where stone daggers are excavated can be presumed as the residence place of Korean people, and the stone daggers can be looked upon as a symbol representing the national homogeneous identity of those times.
