Abstract

본 연구는 수많은 작품과 문학적 열정에도 불구하고 그동안 논의가 활발하게 전개되지 못했던 작가 박노갑의 문학세계를 총체적으로 고찰하고자 하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 식민지라는 억압적 현실과 해방이라는 역사적 전환기 속에서 작품을 통해 나타나는 박노갑의 현실대응양상을 살피되 주제구현의 측면과 그에 따르는 언술기법적 측면과의 연관성 하에서 규명하고자 하였다. 박노갑은 시대적 현실의 변모에 민감하게 반응, 작품으로 형상화하고 있으며 그것은 크게 3기로 구분된다. 각 시기의 작품은 그 생성된 시대의 현실에 대한 작가의 대응양상을 반영한다. Ⅱ장에서는 식민지 농촌현실의 궁핍상과 현실의 굴레를 벗어나지 못하는 농민의 모습을 생생하게 담아내는 초기소설들을 살펴보았다. 어떠한 해결의 방향성을 갖지 못하고 비참한 상황을 반복하는 식민지 현실의 단면들을 객관적으로 생생하게 드러내려는 작가의 의도는 외부관점을 견지하는 서술자의 존재와 인물의 외향적 화법을 통해 형상화된다. Ⅲ장은 더욱 더 피폐해져 가는 일제말기의 암담한 현실 속에서 무력한 주관성이 확대되어 나타나는 2기 소설들을 다룬다. 현실에서의 좌절은 행동이 없는 무력한 인물의 의식세계로 침잠해 들어가 갈등을 표출하게 되고 이때 서술자는 인물과 밀착되어 나타난다. 화법에 있어서 인물의식의 심층까지를 보여주는 의식의 흐름과 현실을 객관적·사실적으로 표출하는 대화를 병치시킴으로써 자아와 현실세계사이의 깊은 괴리를 형상화해내고 있다. 이는 자아가 결코 화해해 들어갈 수 없는 현실세계를 보여줌으로써 작가의 현실에 대한 대립적 인식태도를 드러내준다. Ⅳ장에서는 해방이후 거듭되는 혼란과 분열상을 비판하며 역사적 현실을 조망함으로써 현실극복의지를 드러내고 있는 3기 소설들을 고찰하였다. 인물들간의 대화나 의식세계의 표출은 해방현실을 정리해내려는 작가의 의도에 일관되게 기여하고 있으며, 드러난 서술자의 존재를 통해 역사적 현실을 총체적으로 조망함으로써 해방기 현실을 보다 거시적이고 객관적으로 조명해내고 있다. 박노갑이 그의 작품을 통해서 보여주고 있는 것은 그가 살아간 현실자체의 모습이다. 그가 취택한 소재는 각 시기의 시대를 가장 잘 보여줄 수 있는 측면에서 포착되었으며, 작품의 형상화 방식 또한 현실과 그 현실을 살아간 인간의 모습을 다각도로 묘파해 낼 수 있도록 기여하고 있다. 박노갑 그는 비록 당대에 주목받지 뭇하고 사라져 간 무명의 작가였을지라도 그의 작품세계는 살아서 현재의 시대를 살아가는 독자로 하여금 과거 시대의 역사를 이해하도록 하고 간접체험케 하는 한 방향이 되고 있는 것이다.;This study is to investigate the literary world of Park, No-Gap upon which there hasn't been enough researches or discussions in spite of his creativity of numerous works and his sincere passion for literature. In investigating his works, first of all, aspects of corresponding with the oppresive social circumstances in the times when his motherland was occupied compulsively by Japanese, and the historical turning point of liberation have been examined in relation with the main aspects like realization of a theme and techniques of description. Park, No-Gap responded very sensitively to the changes of his tires and yielded his experiences into the formation of a work. And his literary world can be categorized into three periods. Works of each period reflect the aspects of author's correspondence with reality under which they were produced. In chapter Ⅱ of this study, the early novels which depict in detail the poverty of the colony farming society and the peasants' unabilities to take off the bridle of reality have been taken into consideration. The author's intent to reveal objectively in detail the actual phases of colony people unable to find effective directions of solving problems and repeat miserable living yielded into a formation of novel through the presence of a narrator to maintain external viewpoint only and the extroversive techniques of characters' conversation. In chapter Ⅲ, novels of second period that show impressively the helpless subjectivity of colonists under the gloomy circumstances of the last stage of Japanese occupation more and more became impoverished everyday have been investigated. Frustration from reality penetrates into the consciousness of a Helpless persion to produce certain conflicts, under which a narrator in a novel becomes to identify himself very closely with a character. The author, Park, No-Gap described the wide gap between the sol f of a character and the actual world by using the conversational techniques related with the stream of consciousness to reveal the conflict between the character's mentality and reality in specific detail. In other words, this author reveals his contrary perceptional attitude to reality by showing the actual world with which a person's self can never be harmonized. In chapter Ⅳ of this study, the novels of third period which reveal the author's will to overcome the reality by criticizing the social aspects of confusion and disruption after the national liberation from Japanese occupation by force and by looking out the overall reality of history have been examined. The objective conversations between the characters and the expressions of their consciousness contribute consistently to the author's intent to arrange the liberated society of this country. And through a overt narrator, this author succeeded in taking into a view the liberated reality of this land more broadly and objectively by considering the historical circumstances in general. Consequently, throughout this study on the novels by Park, No-Gap, we can see that his intent to show the vivid actual circumstance of each period yielded into a formation of novel accompanied with unique technique of description. His writings are very closely related with the actual situations of his times and make it possible for the readers to extend their understandings about reality.
