패치워크기법을 응용한 복식 디자인 연구

Abstract

Coming to the modern time, fashion design became an industry of sense not only in functional aspect but also increating an ego. Therefore, designers are turning to more various materials and expressional techniques to create their fashion art. Hence, a study is necessary on a new designing possibility as a formative art by introducing and practicing various expressions that posses aesthetic functions as well as autonomy of creativity. The purpose of the study is to advance utility, originality and the artistics of modem fashion and to seek for a possibility of new image expression through combining traditional patchwork technique and the decorative patterns from Gustav Klimt's paint works. The content of the study consist of theoretical review which are general contemplation on traditional patchwork and observation from modem viewpoint on it's replationship with fashion. Analysis is included about the unique artworld of Gustav Klmit and the characteristics shown in his works which presented me the motives. As the method, collections of bibliographical inquiry and reference materials were reviewed and analyzed. Based on this work, patchwork works were made. During production, creating the art fashion image of modern sense was emphasized. This was done by reorganizing the decorative motifs, geometrical patterns and the plane mosaics that characterize Klimt's art using the patchwork technique. 6 pieces of actual objects and 2 pieces of illustration, total 8 pieces, were made. Results of the study are as follows : 1. The work of recomposing the refinement harmony of color, the practical quality found in patchworks enabled to seek a unique form that blends with the moderns sense. 2. Analyzed results of Klimt's peculiar patterns expressed by patchwork in the work had an artistic and unique effect. 3. Introducing patchwork into modern clothing can be an expressional motif as to various methods beyond those of fixed ideas. And it indicates a direction of creating a fashion that meets mutually from East to West in the international society. 4. Grafting together the traditional technique and paintings in modern fashion design proved a possibility of forming a modern look fashion art. As a result from a bove, it is necessary to study patchwork using diverse materials as a new way of developing a modem fashion design.;현대에 이르러 복식 디자인은 기능적 측면만이 아닌 새로운 자아를 창조하는 감각산업으로 대두되기 시작하면서 디자이너들은 다양한 소재와 표현 기법으로 복식 예술을 창출해 나가고 있는 추세이다. 이에 따라 복식 디자인에 다양한 표현양식을 도입, 응용함으로써 미적 기능을 살리고, 창조의 자율성을 갖는 조형예술로서의 새로운 디자인 가능성을 연구해 볼 필요가 있겠다. 본 연구의 목적은 전통 패치워크기법과 클림트작품의 장식문양을 복식에 표현하여 현대 복식의 실용성, 독창성 및 예술로서의 발전과 새로운 이미지 표현 가능성을 모색하려는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경으로서 전통 패치워크기법의 일반적 고찰 및 복식과의 관계를 현대적 관점에서 재조명 하였으며, 작품의 모티브인 클림트의 독창적인 예술세계와 작품의 특성을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌 고찰과 참고작품을 수집하여 정리, 분석하였고 그것을 토대로 작품을 제작하였다. 작품제작은 패치워크를 표현기법으로 하여 클림트의 작품세계에서 특징적으로 나타나는 장식문양 및 기하학적 형태와 평면적 모자이크 양식을 재구성하여 현대적 감각의 복식 이미지를 창출하는데 중점을 두었으며, 실물 6점과 디자인 제시 2점을 합하여 총 8점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패치워크작품들에서 볼 수 있는 기하학적 구성의 세련미, 색채의 조화 및 실용적 특성을 본 작품에 재구성함으로써 현대감각과 조화를 이루는 독자적인 조형성을 추구할 수 있었다. 둘째, 작품 제작에 클림트의 특징적 문양 분석 결과를 패치워크기법으로 표현하여 현대 복식 표현의 예술성과 독특한 효과를 나타낼 수 있었다. 셋째, 현대 복식에 전통 패치워크기법의 도입은 고정관념을 넘어선 다양한 방법으로서 복식 표현의 주제가 될 수 있으며, 동·서양을 막론하여 국제화시대에 함께 호흡할 수 있는 복식 디자인을 창조하기 위한 방향을 모색하였다. 넷째, 현대 복식 표현에 전통 기법과 회화의 접목을 시도함으로써 현대적 감각의 복식예술을 구성할 수 있는 새로운 가능성을 재확인하였다. 이상의 결과로, 다양한 소재를 사용한 패치워크 기법은 창조적 디자인으로서 현대 복식 디자인 개발에 새로운 방법으로 연구되어야 할 것이다.
