자연의 心像 표현

Abstract

Human being is a part of nature existing within the providence of nature, and nature could be considered as the mother of arts. Throughout history, nature has been the object of expression by artist's, whereupon, the modern art, denying the set notion of arts in the past merely reproducing nature, lays stress on originality to express nature as recomposed by artists own subjectivity. The dyeing as a part of formative art will not be exceptional in this category with a variety of expressions. I, thereby, purposed to express my own unique presentation of nature as reflected to my mental image and not with the actuality of nature, applying the transfer dyeing process. The theoretical backgrounds therefor have been the studies of nature and arts; mental image and expression; transformation and formation of nature for the production of works; and application of materials and methods. Based on these theoretical studies and through the analysis of works, I have obtained the following results: First - With the unlimited possibilities, nature has offered so many artistic objects, whereas, the artist's expression was not all based on its actuality but on the artist's own mental image. Second - Nature, expressed in simplified forms and colors as reflected to my mental image, could be recomposed in unified and harmonized form. Third - In production process of dyeing, in lieu of traditional method of batik, I applied the transfer dyeing process which is not commonly used to obtain a unique effect and feeling. In light of these results, it is found that dyeing will have a great possibility to diversify expressions once the materials and technique for it are well developped. In conclusion, I have determined to further develop the fresher and newer materials and technique in pursuit of variant creative world of dyeing.;인간은 자연의 섭리 안에서 존재하는 자연의 일부분이며, 자연은 예술의 모체라 할 수 있다. 예술가에게 자연은 예나 지금이나 대표적인 표현대상이 되고 있는바, 현대미술은 자연을 그대로 재현하는 과거 미술의 고정관념을 거부하고, 예술가의 독창성을 중시하여, 자신의 주관에 의해 재구성된 자연으로 표현한다. 조형예술로서의 염색 또한 작가의 개성에 따라 다양하게 표현된다. 따라서 본 연구자는 전사염료를 사용하여, 자연을 실체 그대로가 아닌 연구자의 심상에 비친 세계로 표현함으로써, 독창적인 조형세계를 추구하는데, 연구의 목적을 두고자 하였다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 자연과 예술, 심상과 표현에 대해 고찰해 보고, 작품제작을 위한 자연의 변형과 형성, 재료 및 방법을 연구해 보았다. 이러한 이론적 연구를 바탕으로 작품을 제작 분석해 본 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 자연은 무한한 가능성의 세계로, 예술의 대상이 되어왔으며, 예술가는 자연을 그대로 재현하지 않고, 자기나름의 특유한 심상의 세계로 표현하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 자연을 연구자의 심상에 비친 단순화된 형태와 색채로 표현함으로써, 의도한대로의 통일과 조화로운 표현을 기할 수 있었다. 세째, 제작방법에서는 염색에 있어서 전통적인 납방염에서 탈피하여 비교적 널리 사용되지 않는 전사염료를 사용하여, 특유의 효과와 질감을 얻을 수 있었다. 이와같이 염색은 재료와 기법의 개발로 다양한 표현이 가능하여 졌으며, 앞으로도 본 연구자는 계속적인 연구와 실험을 통해 좀 더 새로운 재료와 기법을 개발하여, 창조적이고 다양한 조형세계를 추구하고자 한다.
