「東明王篇」에 나타난 李奎報의 歷史意識

Abstract

본 논문은 「東明王篇」에 나타난 李奎報의 歷史意識에 관한 연구이다. 李奎報(1168~1241)는 歷史的으로 변화가 많았던 전환기의 고려시대를 살다 간 대표적인 文人의 한사람이다. 그는 明宗23年(1193年 4月) 「 구삼국사」東明王本紀를 읽고 「東明王篇」을 製作했다. 따라서 本稿에서는 이러한 「東明王篇」에 내포되어 있는 李奎報의 歷史意識을 다음과 같이 두가지 측면에서 고찰해 보았다. 첫째, 고구려 계승의식의 측면으로, 李奎報가 三國의 始祖중 고구려 始祖의 영웅담을 「東明王篇」의 素材로 擇했으며, 황당무계한 것으로 간주되었던 東明王談話가 創國의 神迹으로 깨닫게 되는 李奎報의 認識상의 전환에 주목해 보았다. 이것은 武人亂 이전에 文臣귀족들이 추구했던 신라계승의 역사인식에 대신하여 고구려 계승의식이 표방된 것이라고 생각된다. 즉 李奎報는 對外的으로는 金의 압제하에서 遼東에 雄據했던 고구려 정신을 필요로 했으며, 對內的으로는 武人執權이후 武人들의 체질에 부합되는 고구려 始祖의 영웅담을 詩作함으로써 고구려 계승의식을 주장했던 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 傳統的 神異史觀의 측면으로, 「東明王篇」에서는 「三國史記」에서 頗略된 東明王의 神異事와 「구삼국사」에서 볼 수 있는 天과의 연결인식이 강조되고 있다. 즉 우리는 「東明王篇」에서 李奎報가 東明王의 神異事를 民族魂 근원으로 파악하고 있음을 보게 된다. 이러한 李奎報의 神異에 대한 새로운 인식은 우리의 歷史를 自主的인 입장에서 새로이 이해해 보려는 노력으로, 李奎報가 이처럼 神異를 표방하고 나선 이유는 儒敎의 合理主義史觀에 대한 비판의 뜻이 있었다고 볼 수 있겠다. 그리고 「東明王篇」에 나타난 이와같은 對統的 神異史觀은 그후 一然과 李承休에게 계승되어 우리의 歷史를 중국의 歷史와 대등하게 그리고 獨自的으로 진행된 歷史로 파악하게 되었다는 것에서 「東明王篇」의 史學史的 意義를 찾아 볼 수 있다고 생각된다.;This treatise is a study on the Lee Kyubo's consciousness of history which is shown in the Dong Myung Wang Pyun. Lee Kyubo (1168-1241) is one of the typical literary men in the converted Koryo dynasty. He made Dong Myung Wang Pyun in the 23th year of king Myongjong (Apr. 1193) on the basis of Gu Sam Guk Sa. Now I hereby consider it Lee Kyubo's consciousness of history appeared in Dong Myung Wang Pyun from two sides. First, In the sense of succession of KoGuryo dynasty, it is abserved that Lee Kyubo selected the legend of the founder of KoGuryo dynasty as the subject matter of Dong Myung Wang Pyun among the founders of three nations, and understood the tale of king Dong Myung which had been known to be absurd, as an God's trace for the foundation of country. The civil minister of a state had pursued the thoughts of succession of shilla dynasty before soldier's revolt. After the outbreak of the millitery coup, the thoughts of succession of KoGuryo dynasty was professed again. Conforming to this current of times, Lee Kyubo asserted the conscious of succession of KoGuryo dynasty which was fit to the soldier's constitution, by making a poem for the heroic legend of the founder of KoGuryo dynasty. Second, in the sense of the historical consciousness of mythics, Dong Myung Wang Pyun emphasizes the mythical events obbreviated in Sam Guk Sa Gi. We can understand that Lee Kyubo catches the meaning of mythical events in Dong Myung Wang Pyun as the origin of racial spirit. Lee Kyubo's advocay for the 'mythical events' means blaming about the historical consciousness of Confucian rationalism. And so, his new sight on the mythics maintains a trial to understand our history in independant situation. The historical consciousness of mythics appeared in the Dong Myung Wang Pyun was succeeded to Il Yown and Lee Seung Hyu. And so we could find the historical significance by understanding our history as equal with that of Chinese and as an history proceeded independantly. Dong Myung Wang Bonki in Gu Sam Guk Sa from which Lee Kyubo had quoted has an value of only eristing original historic material about Gu Sam Guk Sa.
