한국 전통 조각보기법을 응용한 우표디자인 연구

Abstract

우표는 최소 면적을 가지고 세계 각국으로 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 통용되기 때문에 다른 어느 매체보다도 효과적으로 이용될 수 있는 장점을 가졌다. 현대사회에서 우표는 초기에 우표가 가졌던 유가증권적 기능만이 아닌 다양한 기능을 가지고 하나의 시각 매체로 그 활용 범위를 넓혀가고 있다. 초기의 우표가 가졌던 유가증권적 기능에서 한 국가의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 전반에 걸친 모든 사항을 홍보하는 선전적 기능과 세계 각국의 우표 수집가를 위한 콜렉션 대상으로 그 상품적 기능을 높이고 있다. 또한 대중과 직접 만나는 우표는 교육적 기능을 가짐을 물론 한 국가의 디자인 수준과 기술 문명의 수준을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 효과적인 시각 매체인 우표를 디자인 하는데 세계 각국은 각 나라의 개성을 효과적으로 전달하기 위해 독특한 표현의 연구에 주력하고 있다. 그러나 우리나라의 우표 디자인은 우리나라의 이미지를 홍보하는 것이 마치 문화재나 민속 문화를 그대로 보여 주는 것이라고 오해할 만큼 표현에 대한 연구가 부족한 채 사실적 묘사에만 중점을 두고 제작되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 우리나라 개성을 보다 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 표현에 대한 연구를 위해 한국 전통 조각보의 조형적 고찰을 통해 그 표현적 특징을 알아보고 우리나라 우표 디자인에 응용해 보고자 했다. Ⅱ장에서는 우표의 개념과 기능의 변천을 통해 그 활용 범위를 알아보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 한국 우표의 시대적 변천과 특징을 통해 한국 우표에 있어서의 새로운 표현의 필요성을 알아보았다. Ⅳ장에서는 한국 전통 조각보의 조형적 고찰을 통해 그 특징을 알아보고 새로운 표현의 방향을 제시하였다. Ⅴ장에서는 작품 제작을 통해 한국 전통 조각보의 표현적 특징을 응용해서 우표 디자인에 새로운 표현을 시도했다. 결론적으로 본 연구를 통해 우리나라의 이미지를 효과적으로 전달하는 우표 디자인에 있어 한국적 표현이란 과거를 그대로 보여 주는 것 즉, 과거의 문화재나 조형 예술품을 사실적으로 묘사해서 보여주는 것이라고 착각할 만큼 표현에 관한 연구가 부족한 현실 속에서 전통 조각보에 나타난 한국적인 표현 특징을 응용해서 디자인 함으로써 우표가 가지는 기능을 효과적으로 전달하고자 한다.;Postage stamps have an advantage of being used more effectively than any other media because they can be used for longer time and worldwidely, just with the smallest size. In modern society, it has various functions besides the function of securities in the early, and extends its utilized range as a visual medium. From the function of securities, its functions have been developed to advertising policy, economy, soceity, culture and so on of a country, and its function of commercial value has been increasing as a collected object for worldwide postage stamp collectors. And it also has educational function by confronting the public, and shows the level of design and technical culture of a country. Neverthless our stamping designs are made, focusing only on the realistic expression and lack of research enough to misunderstand the promotion of our image as demonstration our cultural assets and folk culture as it were. Therefore in this study, I examined the expressive characteristics of Korean traditional patched cloth wrappings through its formative consideration and applied it to the design of postage stamps for the study on the expression which embles to transmit our features more effectively. In the 2nd chapter, the utilized range of postage stamps was examined through the change of functions and conception of it. In the 3rd, the need for new expression of Korean postage stamps was examined through periodic change and features of it. In the 4th, the characteristics of Korean patched cloth wrappings were examined through its formative consideration and the indication of the need for new expression was suggested. In the 5th, new expression of the design was attempted through actual work production by applying the expressive characteristics of Korean patched cloth wrappings to the design of postage stamps. In conclusion, in designing of the postage stamps which transmit Korean image effectively. Korean styled expression means showing the past as it were. That is, in the reality where the studies on expression are still lacking, I tried to transmit the functions of postage stamps more effectively by applying Korean styled expressive features shown in the wrappings.
