도시어린이를 위한 일러스트레이션 연구

Abstract

Modern civilization, demonstrating man's superiority by gradually destroying and controlling the nature, acquired in process of urbanization as many new problem as the privileges. Man confront the problem of humanity becoming eroded by mechanization and concentration. The theme of this thesis is taken from the poorness of mentalities, in contrast to materialistic wealth, that exists in today's urban societies. I made efforts to express the urban environment that surrounds the emotionally insensible man, in a fantasy of child's naivety, by reflecting through the child's poetic and unaffected visual angle. Even such unpleasant reality of the modern society as the poorness of mentalities, if seen with unaffectedness of child's imaginations, might be enriched a bit. Thus first of all, in chapter 2, the unpleasant realities of urban societies was brought to light by investigating such problems as the loss of humanity and the eroded emotion of children living in this man-made environment. In chapter 3, in order to observe the nature of children as the image of pure childish-minds, their drawings were analysed. This analysis proved that indeed the most characteristic nature of children is in the purity of their imaginations. With this in mind, by harmonizing the realities with child's imaginative world, I aimed creating my own fantasy of urban environment. In the work process, the main child characters were abstracted from illustrations and photographs to blend the image of child appearing as a symbol of pure childish-mind with the real child-like image. Also, in the method of expression, various drawing patterns shown in children's drawings were harmonized to present a nursery rhyme atmosphere suitable to the image of children. I hope that my illustrations, expressing optimistically and imaginatively, the bleak realities of urban life, visualized through the naivety of child's nature, might bring a bit of emotional pleasure to those living in an urban environment.;오늘날 현대문명의 産業化, 都市化 현상은 인간을 자연과 분리시켰고, 개인을 사회 속에서 분산시켰다. 현대 도시문명은 인간의 자연에 대한 끊임없는 도전으로 이룩된 것이지마는 인간은 역시 자연의 일부이다. 결국 자연을 정복하고 이용함으로써 인간의 우위성을 나타낸 현대문명은 자연을 점차 都市로 바꾸면서 받은 많은 혜택만큼 새로운 문제인 인간 내부세계로부터의 도전- 즉, 기계화 규격화, 몰개성화의 과정 속에서 소외감, 고독감을 안고 인간성을 상실당하는 현실- 을 받게 되었다. 본 연구자는 물질의 풍요와 반비례해서 정신이 빈곤해지고 있는 이러한 현대의 도시사회 속에서 주제를 추출하여 인간의 정서를 무감각하게 만드는 도시환경을 어린이의 순수한 마음, 즉 순진성과 특유한 상상성으로 조명해보려고 시도하였다. 현대 도시문명속에서 정서가 메말라가는 부정적 상황도 상상을 잃지않은 순수한 어린이의 눈으로 바라볼 때 조금은 풍요로와 질 수가 있다고 생각되었기 때문이다. 따라서 우선, Ⅱ章에서는 도시화 현상 속에서 인간성 상실의 문제와 도시의 인위적 환경 속에서 정서를 침해당하고 있는 어린이의 문제를 다룸으로 해서 도시의 부정적 현실을 살펴보았다. Ⅲ章에서는 이러한 부정적 현실을 순진한 어린이의 상상의 세계로 표현해 보기 위해 순수 童心의 상징으로서 어린이의 퍼스낼리티(personality)를 어린이가 직접 그린 그림을 통해서 고찰해 보았다. 어린이의 묘화를 통해 어린이가 갖고 있는 가장 특유한 심성은 역시 순진한 상상성에 있음을 확신하고, 이러한 心性을 토대로 어린이의 순수한 표현성과 순진한 상상세계를 부정적 도시현실과 융합시켜 도시의 새로운 환상을 창조해보려고 하였다. 제작과정 중에서도 순수한 동심의 상징으로서 등장하는 어린이의 모습을 본래의 어린이다운 모습에 밀착시키기 위해서 사진이나 그림을 통해서 어린이 주인공의 모습을 추출하였으며, 표현방법에 있어서도 어린이의 그림 속에 나타날 표현양식들을 융합하여 童詩的 분위기를 연출함으로써 보다 어린이의 이미지에 부합할 수 있도록 시도하였다. 이러한 연구를 바탕으로 도시라는 메마른 상황을 어린이의 순수한 心性을 통한 시각으로 바라봄으로써 즐거움이 있고, 꿈이 있는 낙관적인 상상의 상황으로 표현한 本 일러스트레이션이 도시인과 도시의 어린이들에게 조그마한 시각정서의 즐거움을 줄 수 있기를 바란다.
