朝鮮後期歌辭의 서事性 擴大와 그 의미

Abstract

본고는 조선후기인 18 · 9세기에 서사성이 확대되어 나타나는 가사작품들을 '서사적 가사'로 명하고, 그를 대상으로 하여 가사라는 장르적 전통 속에서의 서사화의 의미를 밝혀주는데 그 목적을 두었다. 논의 과정은 다음과 같다. Ⅱ장에서는 조선 전 · 후기를 통하여 가사라는 장르에 있어서 서사성은 어떤 유형으로 나타나는지를 살피고, 대상작품을 선정하였다. 가사는 단편적으로 서사성이 차용되어 나타나는 복합장르적 성격을 본래부터 가진다. 그런데 18 · 9세기에는 인물과 사건구성의 '이야기'성향을 확대한 '서사적 가사'작품들이 나타나 후기 가사의 한 방향을 구축한다. Ⅲ장에서는 서사적 가사의 진술되는 양상을 분석하여 일반 서사장르와 다른 특성들을 고찰하였다. 서사적 가사는 화자가 직접 자신의 이야기를 하는 自傳性을 일관되게 가지며, 사간은 그 진술속에 나열되어 드러나는 경향이 있다. 또 사건 그 자체보다도 서사적 情況의 표출을 중시하는 현상을 보인다. Ⅳ장에서는 Ⅲ장의 분석을 토대로 서사적 가사의 서사화원리와 그 장르사적인 의미를 살펴보았다. 서사적 가사는 이야기를 수단으로 화자의 정조와 태도를 표현 · 전달해주는데 중점을 둔다. 즉 서사적 가사의 서사화 원리는 '정서의 환기'와 '주제화'인 것이다. 일반 서사물이 이야기전달 자체의 객관성에 뿌리를 두고 있다면, 서사적 가사는 바로 이러한 원리가 가지는 주관성에 기반하여 있으므로 Ⅲ장에서 살펴보았던 진술특성이 나타나게 된 것이다. 이는 가사의 장르적 전통에서 보았을 때 前期가사장르에서 보이는 '서정적 성격' 과 '주제적 성격'을 기반으로 하는 것이다. 서사적 가사의 서사성은 이러한 장르의 정통성에 牽引되어 서사성이 약화되어 나타난다고 하겠다. 서사적 가사는 현실에 기반한 경험적 소재를 대상으로 하면서 장르가 가지는 표현세계를 확대하고 나타났다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾아볼 수 있다.;The purposes of this study are to designate Gasa the epic qualities of which were extended in the latter period of Chosun dynasty and to clarify the meaning of epicalization in the genre traditions of Gasa. The processes of discussion are as follows. In chapter Ⅱ, this study considers the aspects of expression in the epic qualities of Gasa throughout Chosun dynasty and selects the subjects for discussion. Gasa keeps essentially the quality of complex genre which shows the epic qualities fragmentarily. But in 18, 19th century, epic Gasa which extends characters and the narrative quality of the framework of events forms one direction of Gasa in the latter period. In chapter Ⅲ, this study analyzes the aspects of statement, thus considers the special qualities different from general epic genres. Epic Gasa has the autobiographic solioquy of writer's own statement and events are inclined to be arranged along those statements. In addition, epic Gasa takes greater importance of the expression of epic conditions rather than event itself. Chapter Ⅳ is concerned with the principle of transforming Gasa into epic and its significance in the korean literature, based on the analysis of chapter Ⅲ. Epic Gasa puts emphasis on the representation and transmission of speaker's emotion and attitude. That is, the epic principles of epic Gasa are evocation of emotion and subjectization. General epic genres are based on the objectivity of transmitting srory, on the other hand epic Gasa is on the subjectivity of such principles. Therefore the qualities of statements of chapter Ⅲ are shown. These have bases on the lyric and subjective qualities expressed in the former period from a standpoint of the genre tradition. The epic qualities of epic Gasa are indexed in such legitimacy of genre, therefore they show the weakening of epic qualities. Epic Gasa is significant of engaging in the experiential matters based on the real lives and extending the range of expression of genre.
