종속모델에 비추어 본 韓國에서의 多國籍企業의 役割

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to grope the relevance and implications of dependency model in Korea by evaluating the role of MNCs in Korea from the perspective of dependency model, and at same time, to emphasize on the need of analysis at the empirical level run parallel with theoretical discussion of this model and the need of interest and comprehensive study on MNCs. Therefore, in ChapterⅡ, two arguments that have contrary viewpoint about the role of MNCs have been introduced; one with a positive viewpoint of mainstream economists and modernization theorists in sociology and the other with a negative viewpoint of non-mainstream economists and radicalists based on imperialism were compared. In Chapter Ⅲ, the background of appearance of the dependency model, the concept of dependency and other major formulations have been briefly elaborated and have arranged the result of the previous empirical Studies and the general viewpoint of dependency model about MNCs. And then in Chapter Ⅳ, the role of MNCs in Korea has been evaluated in terms of economic, political, and socio-cultural sides. As a result, the investment of MNCs in Korea adopted in an effort to develop the economy and to overcome the economic crisis shows various negative aspects or having such possibilities. However, this study also shows that MNCs are contributing to a short term positive effect and to quaranteeing national security as a unique situation of Korean division. Consequently, according to the facts studied through the limited Indicator and inference, even though negative aspects are appeared in Korea, it cannot be considered as a case of dependency model. And more empirical studies and an objective evaluation based on the studies are required in the future. In this respect, dependency model has another meaning as a critique of reality and as a warning on problems that may be raised in the future.;本 論文의 목적은 종속모델에 비추어서 韓國에서의 多國籍企業의 役割을 평가해 봄으로써 종속모델의 韓國에서의 적합성과 시사하는 바를 模索해 보고 아울러서 이 모델에 대한 理論的인 論議와 병행을 한 經驗的인 水準에서의 分析의 必要性과 多國籍企業에 대한 인식 및 종합적인 硏究의 必要性을 강조하고자 한 것이다. 그래서 우선 제Ⅱ장에서는 多國籍企業의 役割에 대하여 相反된 見解를 갖고 있는 兩 立場을 소개하고 있다. 즉, 긍정적으로 평가하고 있는 立場으로서 主流經濟學 및 社會學에서의 近代化論者의 論議와 부정적으로 평가하는 立場으로서 非主流經濟學 및 帝國主義에 기초한 急進論者의 論議를 對比시켰다. 제Ⅲ장에서는 多國籍企業에 대한 종속모델의 견해를 보기 위해서 증속모델의 등장배경, 從屬의 槪念 및 主要命題들을 간단히 살펴보고 多國籍企業에 대한 종속모델의 일반적인 견해와 先行하는 經驗時 硏究結果들을 정리하였으며 이러한 면들에 촛점을 맞추어 제Ⅳ장에서는 韓國에서의 多國籍企業의 그동안의 役割을 經濟·政治·社會文化的인 側面에서 평가하고 있다. 그 결과, 대체로 經濟成長과 經濟的 危機를 극복하기 위해 受容하게된 多國籍企業에 의한 投資는 종속모델에서 상정했던 여러 부정적인 양상을 보이거나 또는 그 개연성을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 단기적인 긍정적 效果와 韓國의 특수한 狀況으로서 分斷에 기인한 安保에 대한 담보역할을 간접적으로 수행하고 있는 점을 지적할 수 있다. 따라서 제한된 지표와 추론을 통해 본 바에 의하면 비록 韓國의 경우, 多國籍企業의 投資로 인해 부정적인 側面등이 존재하지만 종속 모델의 한 事例로 보기에는 어려우며 이 모델은 앞으로 보다 많은 經驗的 硏究와 이를 토대로한 客觀的인 評價가 요구되고 있고 종속 모델은 現實에 대한 비판과 앞으로 일어날지도 모를 問題狀況에 대한 경종으로서의 또 다른 의미를 지니고 있다고 할 수 있다.
