鳥類의 視覺的 形象化

Abstract

Like the Herbert Read's saying that, without giving the nature esthetic form even through the precise observation, the art is to determine the technique from the specific quality in nature, art starts from the esthetic attitude toward the nature, and the artist makes the artistic natural picture big giving the nature esthetic form. Then, the art has been expressed in different ways according to person, nation and period and is spreading into the phase to display the function as the practical art, which occupies the scope as the means used in the human life, as well as the esthetic values as the formative art up to the modern times with the development in the culture and the society. This change is especially characterized in the batic technology, and the batik technology, which started with the purpose and the function of the practicability, is now approved the position as an art to pursue the independent formation, deparsing the practicability. Therefore, in this study, I construct the originally expressive world with the batic techniques, investigating the birds, an object in nature which provide the unlimited subject matters for the creation of art. On its theoretical background, "Nature and Art", and "Art and Transformation" is studied. And I investigate the form of birds and the formation elements. And in the foundation of it, I have produced 10 works with batik materials in the result of attaining the following conclusion. 1. Nature provides the unlimited subject matters for the creation of art and it is known that the new arts can be created by the maker's esthetic sensibility. 2. The transformation, dealt on the theoretical background, is needed for the visualization of the birds, and the formation elements gives support to expressing the form of birds. 3. When the special quality of dyestuff, textile and other materials are exactly studied, the various expressions will be possible in batik works. 4. In the course of producing works, sprinkling down the paraffins and the "Gradation" effect in curve were possible for me to make the various background.;"자연에 대한 정밀한 관찰에 의하여 지금껏 묘사된 바 없이 자연 속에 존재하는 특질을 찾아내어 양식을 형성하는 일이 예술이다"고 한 허버트리이드의 말처럼 예술은 자연에 대한 미적 태도에서 출발되어지는 것이며 예술가는 자연이라는 소재에 예술이라는 미적 형식을 줌으로써 예술적 자연상을 만들어 낸다. 그런데 이러한 예술은 개인, 민족, 시대에 따라 여러가지 방법으로 표현되고 있으며 문명이나 사회의 발달과 더불어 현대에 이르러서는 조형예술로서의 미적 가치뿐만이 아니라 인간 생활 속에 사용되고 있는 도구로써 한 분야를 차지하는 실용예술로서 그 기능을 발휘하는 단계로 까지 그 범위가 확대되어 가고 있다. 이러한 변화는 특히 염색 공예에서 두드러지는 특성으로 실용성이 라는 목적과 기능을 가지고 출발한 염색이 오늘날에는 실용성을 떠나 독자적인 조형성을 추구하는 하나의 예술로서도 그 위치가 인정되고 있다. 그러므로 본 연구자는 예술 창조의 무한한 소재를 제공하여 주는 자연 속에서 존재하는 물상 중의 하나인 조류를 소재로 하여 염색의 기법으로 연구자의 독자적인 표현 세계를 구축하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이론적 배경에서는 자연과 예술, 예술과 변형을 다루고 표현 소재, 조류의 형태 및 형성 요소를 고찰하여 이를 바탕으로 10점의 작품을 제작함으로써 다음과 같은 결론에 도달하였다. 첫째, 자연은 예술 창조에 무한한 소재를 제공하여 주며 이것은 작가의 미적 감성에 의해 새로운 예술 작품이 창조될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 이론적 배경에서 다룬 변형은 조류의 시각적 형상화를 위해 필요하였으며 그에 따른 형성 요소는 조류의 형을 표현하는데 밑받침이 되었다. 셋째, 염색 작품에서도 염료와 섬유 그 밖의 재료의 특성을 정확하게 파악함으로써 새롭고 다양한 표현이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 제작과정에서 파라핀 뿌리기와 곡선의 그라데이션 효과로 변화있는 배경 처리가 가능하였다. 한편 제작과정에서 문제점으로는 조류의 생태를 충분히 연구하여 좀더 독특하고 감각적인 세계를 표현하였으면 하는 아쉬움과 동일 계통 색의 그라데이션이 화면에 부드럽고 자연스러운 분위기는 주나 단조로워 다른 색채와의 대비를 꾀하여 적극적인 화면의 변화를 조성하는 것도 작품 제작에 효과적인 것으로 생각되었다. 이와 같은 결론을 발판으로 계속적인 연구를 통하여 작품 제작 과정에서 나타나는 문제점을 해결하고 독창적인 조류의 형상화를 위해 조혈 방법을 연구한다면 보다 나은 조류의 시각적 형상화가 가능하리라고 생각된다.
