Abstract
Karl Barth asserted that the traditional order of Law-Gospel should reversed : instead of going from Law to Gospel, one must proceed from Gospel to Law. He intended to avoid the metaphysical separation of Law and Gospel. He thinks that this separation can not make Law as what it is, and Gospel as what it is. Further this separation influences to the relation of Church-State, that is, the Church, as in Germany under Nazism, agrees with the State on the other hand. But Barth thinks Gospel and Law have their unity in the fact that they both God's adress, and as God's adress their essential content is Grace. Here, the relation of Church and State is bought to a new light. God's authority includes the State, which represents law and order, as law's place, and the Church, which is Gospel's place. The State takes the mission which protect of the freedom of Church proclamation from God and the Church takes the mission of Gospel proclamation. Whether the State knows this, the State, as God's means, participates the plan of God's salvation. When the State uses it's power for it's own, it becomes a demon, like in Germany under Nazism. If Law and Gospel separates dually, these is no room for Gospel in such situation. And Gospel can not act it's role. But, as for Barth, if Law and Gospel have their unity as the form and the content of the Grace. Gospel can be proclaimed in the form of judgment. Therefore, according to the relation of Gospel-Law, the relation of Church-State, especially the attitude of Church to the State, is determined.
