吳泰錫 戱曲의 空間 硏究

Abstract

It is said that the dramas of Mr. Oh Tea-Suk, one of the most remarkable play writers in Korea, are ambiguous and very hard to understand. This thesis is intended to understand the internal structure of his dramas, approaching to them specifically with analysis of space which is the most important composition principle in literary works. rho contents of each chapters as follows; The chapter Ⅱ presents the inside and outside of space, the result was that the inside has a negative meaning and outside positive, and also showed opposite space structure with descent and ascent direction respectively. In chapter Ⅲ is to be lound the activities of characters based on the opposite space structure of inside and outside. As a result the character represents the tendency of ascent and descent to escape the negative space 'Inside', the effort resulted in failure. The chapter Ⅳ deals with the space consciousness shown in his early works through the analysis of space construction and with the relationship between the space consciousness and dramatic actions in the dramas. As a result, the space consciousness the been proved to be the space consciousness of alienation and of confinement. With respect to the dramatic actions, it has been turned out that because the space consciousness of writer in the play is limited due to character's incapability of walk and being held in detention the actions are mainly made by dialogue. Mostly tedious or lengthy, the dialogues contributed to proceed the story, or rather to identify the psychological condition of alienation or of confinement of the characters. Through the above, Oh Tae-Suk's play has not only formalized the space consciousness, the subject of his works, as a space construction but also reflected the form of play of its own, that should be of help to understand partly the difficulty of his drama.;현대희곡사에서 가장 주목받고 있는 작가중의 하나인 吳泰錫의 희곡은 모호하고, 난해하다는 評이 있어왔다. 本 論文은 이러한 오태석의 희곡세계를 문학작품의 중요한 구성원리라 할 수 있는 空間을 분석함으로서 희곡에 구체적으로 접근하여 작품의 내적구조를 이해하고자 하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 내용을 章別로 요약하면 다음과 같다. Ⅱ장에서는 주체를 중심으로 가장 기본적인 관계인 '안'과 '밖'의 공간을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 '안'은 부정적인 의미, '밖'은 긍정적인 의미를 지니는 對立的 空間構造로 이루어져 있음이 드러났다. Ⅲ장에서는 '안'과 '밖'의 대립적인 공간구조에 의한 劇中人物들의 行動을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 '안'과 '밖'이라는 水平的인 分節은 下降的 方向과 上昇的 方向으로의 垂直的 대응을 이루고 있으며 이에따라 劇中人物들은 부정적 공간인 '안'에서 탈출하고자 上昇志向性이나 下降志向性을 나타내지만 그 시도는 모두 실패로 돌아감이 밝혀졌다. Ⅳ장에서는 공간구조의 분석을 통해 오태석의 초기작품에 나타난 空間意識을 살펴보고 이 공간의식과 戱曲의 劇的行動과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 공간의식은 소외와 감금의 공간의식임이 드러났다. 劇的行動의 면에서는, 작가의 공간의식에 의해서 身體的 動作은 제한되어 있고, 臺詞는 ＜말로서의 액션＞의 원칙을 버리고 ＜수다스러움＞을 대사의 원칙으로 할 정도로 늘어나있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 제한된 신체적 동작과 관련해서 늘어난 대사는 그 내용의 모호함과 길이의 장황함에 의해서 劇中人物의 心理狀態를 보여주고 있는 역할을 하며 이로써 극적행동을 이끌고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 以上의 論議를 통해 오태석의 희곡이 작품의 주제가 되는 공간의식을 하나의 공간구조로 형상화하고 있을 뿐 아니라 그러한 의식을 희곡고유의 形式的인 면에서도 반영하고 있음을 밝혔는데 이는 난해하다고 말해지는 오태석의 희곡을 부분적으로나마 이해한다는 점에서 의의가 있을 것이라 본다.
