초방염에 의한 식물표현

Abstract

Formative arts have been expressed by the creative will of artist himself who has found and experienced the beauty in nature. This does not mean the representation of the object what it is, but the creative representation of it. A artist creates the object formaltively according to his subjective emotioin evoked by the beauty of natural phenomenon. This trend of modern art influenced the technique of dyeing. So I tried to explore the possibility of formative expression in dyeing by transforming and reconstructing the form of plants. To this end, I previously studied the relations between nature and expressioni and the change of expressive mode. Mindful of this theoretieal background, I created and analyzed ten pieces of dyeing work. This following is the outcome of my study. First, nature, as the expressive object of art, has provided the infinite material for art continuously. Moreover, nature has been expressed in various mode according to the formative consciousness of artist. Second, I have transformed the material of plants in varous simple forms and tried to express them in spacial construction. The plants proved to be adequate material to express lively the natural beauty of nature. Third, the characteristic of Batik helps to divide the boundary of each color. This is the effective technique in that the plants can be expressed clearly. In other hand, this method has the defect that the clear boundary of each color gives us the rigid and hard impression. Fourth, I have made my best to try to simplify and transform the original form of plants diversely. But I feel the lack of the more bold and creative expression. Fifth, at first the works have been flat and factual. But on the process the works have changed ones having cubie effect with spatiality and perspective because of the stylization of the objects. Therefore these results show the possibility of development in future works. I hope that following researchers will create more valuable works by complementing my limit and defect.;조형예술은 자연의 섭리안에서 미를 발견하고 체험한 작가 자신의 조형의지에 따라 표현되어 왔다. 이 같이 표현한다는 것은 대상을 있는 그대로 재현하는 것이 아니라, 대상의 내재성에 의해 직접 느낀 감정을 예술가의 주관에 따라 조형적으로 형상화하는 것이다. 이와 같은 현대 미술의 흐름과 맥락을 같이 하는 염색도 예외는 아니라고 생각된다. 이에 본 연구자는 자연 형태를 변형, 재구성함으로써 염색에 의한 조형적 표현가능성을 추구하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 이론적 배경에서 자연과 표현, 표현양식의 변화에 대해 고찰함으로써 작품제작을 위한 조형관을 연구 모색하고, 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 10점의 염색작품을 제작, 분석해 본 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예술에 있어서 자연은 끊임없는 표현의 대상으로 무한한 소재를 제공하여 작가의 조형의식에 따라 다양한 양식을 통한 표현대상으로의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 표현소재로 택한 식물들은 본 연구자 나름의 표현의도대로 단순화된 형태와 공간적 구성으로, 자연의 생명감을 표현하는데 적절한 소재였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 세째, 초방염에 있어 초의 방염성을 경계로 한 색면처리는 식물을 표현하는 과정에서 효과적인 기법이면서 한편 색면과 색면의 경계를 뚜렷이 구별지어 딱딱하고 경직된 효과가 단점으로 드러났다. 넷째, 식물의 질서있는 형태를 연구자의 주관에 따라 단순화, 변형하는 과정에서 식물이 가지고 있는 본래의 고정관념에서 과감히 벗어나지 못하여, 대상의 양식화가 대담하지 못하고 너무 구상적으로 표현된 점이 아쉬움으로 남는다. 다섯째, 작품이 초반에는 평면적이면서 사실에 가까운 작품이었으나 작품이 진행되면서 대상의 양식화와 더불어 공간성과 원근감이 있는 입체적인 작품으로 변모함으로써 앞으로의 작품 발전가능성을 가늠해 볼 수 있었다. 작품과정에서의 한계와 미비한 점을 보완하고 계속적인 연구로 해결방안을 모색함으로써, 보다 차원 높은 독창적인 작품세계를 실현할 수 있다고 생각한다.
