Abstract

After the period of Renaissance, man liberated from the absolute power of God has perceived himself to be a subject of world, and has rapidly grown developing more rational and scientific social organization and civilization. Such enlargement and complication of the social structure have insulated man into a minute unit of world, separating him from the collective basis and mutual relationship. This phenomenan has fostered the isolation and impotence of the masses, and has made man be led more to trifling stimulus in order to be free from loneliness, anxiety, and consciousness of crisis. For this reason, man has become to exist not as the former subjective self, but as a figure of standardized one being deprived of his originality and individuality by the power governing the huge social structure. A modern man, therefore, sticking to e moment of this present isolated from the past and future has degraded himself to the group of people living in an ordinary life which is being repeated continuously without true meaning of life, and has lost the imagination as well. In this study, I, the researcher, have tried to make man realize that he, in frant of the modern industrial society, should find the lost imagination for the wholesome spiritual awakening, and have attempted to awake the modern man living in today's daily life to the possibility through the presentation of imahination which he used to have in childhood. I have first looked into the possibility from original nature of man, and then have examined the feasibility of an affirmative man with recovering the screen of original nature resulted from isolation of man by means of imagination. Thus, through the steps of visual thinking-seeing, imagining, and drawing, I approached lightly the isolation problem of modern society which could be thought serious by doing imagination of the present daily life with a non daily point of view. In conclsion, this study has tried to fill the role of visual comunication which newly makes man be aware of the possibility of imagination with presentation of the imagination that he would experienced once in the sterile spiritual space continuing everyday of the modern man.;르네상스 이후 인간들은 신의 절대적 권력으로부터 해방되어 인간 스스로가 주체자임을 깨닫고 보다 합리적이고 과학적인 사회조직과 문명을 만들며 급성장하였다. 사회규모의 확대와 조직의 복잡화는 개인을 집단적 기반과 유대로부터 분리시켜 원자적(原子的) 단위로 분산, 고립시켰으며 대중의 소외의식과 무력감을 조장시켰고, 이는 고독과 불안 위기의식으로부터 벗어나기 위해 인간을 더욱 말초적 자극에 이끌리게 하였다. 그것은 거대한 구조를 지배하는 힘에 의해 개인의 독특함과 개별성이 박탈당하여 이전의 주체적 자아가 아닌 획일화된 인간의 형상으로 남게 하였다. 이로 현대인은 과거와 미래에서 절연된 현재라는 순간에만 집착하게 되어 의미를 잃은채 반복되는 일상 속에 묻혀 사는 군상(群像)으로 전락하면서, 상상(imagination) 또한 상실하게 되었다. 본 연구자는 이러한 현대 산업사회 앞에 한 인간으로 유익하게 정신적 자각을 꾀하기 위해 잃어버린 꿈을 찾아야 함을 인식시켜 주고자 오늘날의 일상(日常) 에 동심에서 갖던 상상의 세계를 제시해 줌으로써 현대인에게 가능성을 자각시켜 주고자 하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 인간의 본성에서 그 가능성을 살펴보고 인간소외현상에 따라 가리워진 것을 꿈의 회복으로 긍정적 인간의 가능성을 조명해 보았다. 이러한 주제를 seeing, imagining drawing 단계의 시각화 과정을 거쳐 비일상적 시각으로 오늘의 일상을 상상해 봄으로써 무거울 수 있는 현대사회의 소외 문제를 동화적으로 접근하였다. 본 연구는 현대인의 매일 계속되는 일상의 메마른 정신공간에 한번쯤은 경험했을 상상의 세계를 제시해 봄으로써 새로이 상상(imagination)의 가능성을 자각하게 하는 visual communication의 역할을 하고자 함이다.
