大學圖書館 指定圖書 制度에 관한 硏究

Abstract

大學은 學問하는 社會이므로 學問하는 大學人들은 圖書館을 中心으로 資料를 利用하게 되며 따라서 學問硏究는 圖書館資料와 연결을 지어야만 한다. 最近 몇년동안 敎育의 重要性이 强調되고 있으며 특별히 새로운 敎育方法이 문제시 되고 있다. 그 特徵은 學生들이 能動的으로 問題를 解決하도록 自主的인 敎育方法을 適用하는 것이다. 이러한 敎育方法을 適用하는데 중요한 方便으로서 圖書館資料가 導入되는 것이며 또한 指定圖書館制度의 實施가 奬勵되는 것이다. 指定圖書館制度는 敎授의 授業計劃에 大學圖書館이 直接 參考하고 敎授의 授業進行을 돕는 가장 效果的인 圖書館의 奉任制度라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 指定圖書館制度의 成敗는 그 大學의 敎育課程과 敎授方法 如何에 달려있다. 大學敎育의 目的은 敎育課程을 통하여 實現되는 것이므로 敎育課程은 敎養敎育을 바탕으로 하여 專門敎育이 이루어 지도록 準備되어야 한다. 또한 學習效果는 敎授方法에 따라 크게 달라지는 것이므로 效果的인 學習活動은 학생들의 自發的인 學習이어야 하고 獨立的인 硏究의 機會를 充分히 줄 수 있는 敎授方法이 채택되어야 한다. 그러므로 現代 大學敎育에서는 指定圖書制度가 반드시 實施되어야 한다. 그러나 現在 우리나라 大學圖書館의 指定圖書館制度는 바람직하게 실시되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 그 중요한 原因은 在來式方法을 脫皮하지 못한 注入式 敎育方法과 大學當局의 理解不足에 있다고 본다. 指定圖書館制度를 效果的으로 實施하려면 大學圖書館에서는 指定圖書를 위한 예산을 우선적으로 充分하게 세우고 또한 指定圖書의 目的과 意義를 깊이 認識하고 항상 교수들과 接觸하여 對話를 나눌 수 있는 유능한 司書를 確保하여, 1) 每學期初마다 各科 敎授들에게 指定圖書館制度의 利用을 積極的으로 勸奬하고, 2) 敎授들의 要求에 의해 申請된 指定圖書는 물론 그와 關聯된 主題의 補助資料까지 제공하여 이용케 하므로서 敎育效果를 높이고, 3) 指定圖書의 배열, 복본수, 이용시간등은 學生들이 가장 便利하게 利用할 수 있도록 정하고, 4) 항상 指定圖書 利用에 대한 調査硏究를 하므로서 最善의 方法을 發見할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 筆者는 大學圖書館 指定圖書館制度를 硏究하기 위하여 第1章에서는 大學敎育에 있어서 指定圖書館制度와 敎授課程의 關係를 통하여 그 必要性을 論한 다음 第2章에서는 指定圖書館制度가 어떻게 運營되어야 學生들에게 效果的으로 利用될 수 있는가를 考察하였다. 第3章에서는 다른 나라의 指定圖書館制度는 어떻게 실시되고 있는가 알기 위하여 大學圖書館이 發達된 美國과 우리와 隣接國인 日本의 大學圖書館 指定圖書館制度를 調査하였다. 第Ⅳ章에서는 우리나라 指定圖書館制度의 歷史와 現況을 살펴보고 그 問題을 찾은 다음 第Ⅴ章에서 指定圖書館制度 實施를 위한 綜合的인 提案을 시도하였다. 本 論文의 目的은 우리나라 大學社會에서 效果的인 大學敎育을 遂行하기 위하여 敎授陣과 司書들이 協力하여 指定圖書館制度의 必要性을 認識하고 이 制度의 實施를 위하여 서로 努力하고 强力하게 밀고 나가도록 勸奬하는데 있다.;A university is a community for the dissemination and advancement of learning. Learning is pursued with the aid of research materials of the library. It follows that learning has an organic relationship with library materials. The status of affairs has recently lad educators to define a new set of educational goals, which stress a student-oriented, autonomous education with a view to developing thinking power, originality, judgement of the students more than the lecture-centered, passive, system. One of the important means which helps to achieve the new educational ideals is library materials. Professors call for research materials which the students are required to read while taking a course. The reading assignments require them to read the works to supplement lectures. The librarian meets the need of the professors through a reserve book system which is designed to help the students make an effective use of the library materials. The system requires that a sufficient number of the multiple copies of books recommended by professors be purchased and kept and that reading and lending hours be set for the students to make a maximum use of the library material. The reserve books system in the most effective service system of the library, for it enables the university or college library to tale an active part in professors' lecture plans as well as to help to carry out the plans. However, a successful operation of the reserve book system demands a mutual understanding and co-ordination between professional libraian and professors. The university librarian has it as her duty to strongly urge the professors to utilize th system and to purchase necessary materials in advance. And professors are urged to recommend research materials relevant to a course of study, and to plan their lectures in such a way that the students may draw on the materials in pursuing their studies. Therefore, modern university education encourages a reserve book system as a means to achieve its educational goals. The reserve book systems in Korean university libraries have been examined. The result shows that the current state of the systems in Korea has much to be improved. Traditional teaching method which centered around classroom lectures and lack of understanding on the part of university administrators are found responsible.
