귀금속 공예로써 표현되는 장신구 연구

Abstract

조형미의 세계에서 원래 생활에 밀접한 영역은 공예이다. 그렇기 때문에 우리가 아름다움의 원리를 사색하고 또 실제로 표현함에 있어 가장 친근한 제재가 되는 것이 다름아닌 공예이다. 즉 미와 생활을 결부시키는 것이 바로 공예인 것이다. 이러한 특성을 가진 실용예술인 공예의 범위는 넓고 다양하다. 금속공예 역시 실용적 의의를 뒷받침 하는 동시에 양식, 즉 미의 두 요소를 지니고 있으며 현대에 와서는 예술적 측면 뿐만 아니라 산업예술의 한 부분으로도 발전하고 있다. 오늘날은 다원화된 국제 경쟁의 시대이고 초산업의 시대이다. 이러한 시점에서 볼 때 금속공예의 디자인 개발과 기술개발에 주력해야 할 것이다. 따라서 디자인 개발과 산업예술의 안목을 높이기 위하여 독특한 디자인과 기술을 연구해 보는 것이 선행과제라 할 수 있겠다. 본 연구는 귀금속공예로 표현되는 장신구 연구를 주제로 장신구의 목적인 신체부분을 아름답게 꾸미고 또한 개성미 표현에 알맞은 디자인을 개발하고 귀금속이라는 재료적 특성에 적합한 디자인을 개발 발전시키는데 그 목적을 두며, 나아가 미와 생활을 결부시켜 보다 나은 생활속의 조형물로 발전시키는데 그 목적을 둔다. 여기에서 세 가지 측면을 고찰하였는데 첫째, 장신구가 갖는 목적과 성질을 알기 위하여 장신구의 일반적인 성격을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 장신구 중 금속으로 표현되는 장신구를 살펴보고 그 재료적 특성에 관해 알아보았다. 셋째, 장신구디자인의 방법적 측면을 디자인 이론과 방법론을 통해 연구하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 한국금속장신구의 실태를 조사하여 살펴보고 그 문제점을 발견하여 앞으로의 한국금속장신구가 나아가야 할 방향에 관해 간략히 서술하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 작품제작과 해석으로 용도, 형태, 재료선정, 기법, 제작과정을 서술하고 문제점을 살펴보았다. 실제 작품은 10점으로 하였으며 표현의도 및 해석, 제작방법을 서술하였다. 이상에서 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 귀금속장신구란 자체의 독특한 개성과 매력을 나타내며, 또한 착용함으로써 미와 생활을 결부시킬 수 있는 좋은 소재이다. 그래서 재료의 특성과 기법의 개발로 조형표현에 있어 가능성이 많은 분야이다. 둘째, 귀금속이라는 재료를 통해 직접 제작하는 동안 그 재료의 특성을 알게 되고 디자인과 실제 제작상의 문제점등을 알 수 있게 되었다. 셋째, 귀금속 공예로서 장신구는 수공이 많이 들고 시간이 많이 걸리나 기계화의 방법을 충분히 연구하면 산업예술의 한 분야로 또한 독자적인 표현세계로 발전 확립시킬 수도 있다는 것이다. 이상과 같은 여러가지 사실을 종합하여 볼 때 귀금속장신구 디자인 개발은 그 조형성과 재료, 기법에 대한 연구가 계속 이어지고 발전된다면 훌륭한 공예문화로, 또한 조형예술로서의 가능성은 무한하다고 생각된다.;In the world of formative arts, the realm most closely linked to our daily livers is 'Crafts'. Therefore, when we contemplate on the principle of beauty or actually express this beauty, the medium used most widely is crafts. That is to say, 'craft' is linkage of beauty and life. Craft, with such distinct characteristics of industrial art, has much wide range and various aspects. Metallic craft also supports such practical meaning as well as form; thus, possessing both components of beauty. In the modern era, metallic craft is developing into a part of industrial arts while fully appreciating artistic aspect. Current times are, what we call 'Times of international competition' and 'superindustrial era' possessing much pluralistic structure. From this standpoint, much more efforts should be persevered in the development of design and techniques in metallic craft. Thus, the preceding task would be to research an unique design and techniques to improve the design and broaden the scope of industrial arts. The theme of this study is 'Personal ornaments expressed with precious metal craft'. The purpose of this study is to fulfill the following requirements. 1. To meet the purpose of personal ornaments which is to decorate a body more beautifully. 2. Develop designs which are suitable for expressing individual personality. 3. Develop designs which are suitable for precious metal. 4. Develop formative article which link beauty and life and further enhance lifestyle. The author looked into three different aspect; firstly, general traits of personal ornaments to find out the purpose and nature of personal ornaments, secondly, out of all personal ornaments those made of metal were looked into to see individual characteristics of each metal. And thirdly, theory of design and methodology to check the methodology used in designing personal ornaments. In chapter 3, the current conditions in Korean metallic personal ornaments were researched and problems there of and future direction pursued were described. In chapter 4, production and explanation of 10 articles were described. Usage, form selection of metal, techniques, production process and motive for and explanation were depicted. The conclusion drawn for this study are as follows. First, precious metal has unique traits and appeal. A good material when used as personal ornaments and could link beauty and life when worn; therefore, by developing techniques and traits of material, formative expression could be upgraded. Second, by using the precious metal, the problems relating to design and production as personal ornaments were found. Third, precious metal craft takes much time and effort but once machine process gets adopted it can have independent realm in industrial art. Thus, through the following facts, if research continues in this area of precious metal ornaments it has much possibilities.
