兒童의 不適應行動 修正에 관한 硏究

Abstract

아동의 성장은 지속적인 행동학습과정으로 현재 가지고 있지는 않으나 필요한 행동을 발달시켜 주고, 현재로 발달되어 있으나 사회적으로나 개인적으로 손해가 되는 부적응행동을 제거시키도록 도와줘야 한다. 부적응행동을 적응행동으로 치료하는데에 정신분석이론 자아이론이 주축을 이루어 왔으나, 이에 대한 개혁의 필요성을 기대하게 되어 행동변화의 과정을 실증적 자료를 통해 제시하는 행동수정론이 대두하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라 사회사업의 실천분야에 있어서, 행동수정론의 적용의 타당성을 규명하고자 하였으며, 문헌연구와 사례연구를 병행하였다. 문헌연구로는 행동수정론의 역사적 배경과 주요이론을 검토하고, 사회사업 실천에서 활용될 수 있는 행동수정의 기술과 과정을 제시하였다. 사례연구에서는 아동의 부적응행동의 대부분이 부모들 특히 어머니에 의해 습득되고 유지된다는 전제아래 어머니를 중간조정자로 교육하고 활용하였다. 사례 A에서는 가정에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 공격적 행동을 소멸과 상반행동 보강에 의해 수정하였으며, 사례 B에서는 행동계약에 의한 토오컨 보강을 가정에서 어머니가 제공함으로 클라이언트의 비학습적 행동과 바람직하지 못한 생활습관을 수정하였다. 행동수정론에 대한 이론적 고찰과 사례연구를 통해서 얻은 사회사업 실천분야에 있어 행동수정론 적용의 타당성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 행동수정의 과정이 사회사업가와 클라이언트 사이에 합의된 계약에 의해 시작되며, 클라이언트의 개인차를 인정하고, 클라이언트에게 가장 적합한 기술과 방법을 사용하여 가장 효과적인 도움을 주려고 한다. 둘째, 행동수정의 기술은 치료적 수단으로서 뿐만아니라, 예방적 수단으로 활용될 수 있다. 세째, 행동수정 치료의 효과가 비교적 단시일내에 분명히 겉으로 드러나기 때문에, 사회사업가가 치료자로서 인정받을 수 있으며. 동시에 사회사업가의 전문성을 높이는 데 이바지할 수 있다. 네째, 우리나라 사회사업의 실제는 일시적이고, 위기개입적인 도움이 많으므로 단기치료의 성격을 지닌 행동수정론적 접근방법이 더 효과적이다. 다섯째, 치료를 도울 수 있는 중간조정자의 훈련이 용이하므로, 전문인력이 부족하고, 사회사업가당 업무량이 많은 우리나라 사회사업 실친분야에 있어 전문인력 문제해결에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 그러나 행동수정론적 접근방법이 사회사업 실천분야에 보다 효과적이고 효율적으로 적용되기 위하여, 사회사업에 적합한 행동기술이나 방법, 적당한 사회사업가의 역할, 장기적 안정화를 위한 구체적인 변화 유지계획을 게발해야 한다.;The growth of children is a continuous process of learning behavior. So the behavior which is desired for proper development must be cultivated. Undesirable behavior, which children tend to exhibit, but which is socially or personally detrimental, must be eliminated. In changing maladaptive behavior to adaptive one, the psychoanalytic theory and self-theory have most often been applied. However, due to the limitations of these approaches, the behavioral modification approach, which illustrates the behavioral change process through the empirical data, has become influential. The propose of this study is to examine the validity of the behavioral modification approach in the field of social work practice. For the study, the author investigated the relevant literature and applied case studies to it. Investigating the relevant literature, the author examine the historical background, major principles, techniques, and procedures of behavioral modification which could be implemented in social work. In the case studies, on the assumption that most of maladaptive behavior exhibited by children is learned and maintained due to parental influence, especially mother's, the author educated and used mothers as therapists to carry out case studies in their own home environment. In case A, the author attempted to modify the aggressive behavior which is normally found in the home by using "Extinction" and "Incompatible Behavior Reinforcement" treatments. In case B, the author modified the undesirable classroom behavior and neglected home duties by using "Behavior Contracts" and "Token Reinforcement" delivered by a mother in the home. The validity of the behavioral modification approach in social work practice which the author acquired through the relevant literature and case studies is as follows. First, the process of behavioral modification begins by setting up a mutually agreed upon contract between the social worker and clients. It attempts to provide the most effective help to the clints by recognizing individual differences which exist among clients and by using the most appropriate techniques and methods. Second, the techniques of behavioral modification could be used as a preventive means as well as a therapeutic one. Third, social work practice in Korea is characterized by its temporary nature and crisis interventional help. As the behavioral approach is also short term in nature, this approach is well suited for application in this country. Fourth, as the effects of the behavioral modification treatment are much more easily measured and evaluated than other treatments, the proffessional status of social workers as therapists will be recognized. Fifth, as it is easy to train mediators who can help in treatment, they can help to alleviate the heavy caseloads assigned to social workers and compensate for their limited numbers. In order to apply the behavioral modification approach more effectively and efficiently, the particular techniques and methods of behavioral modification most useful in social work, the appropriate role of the social worker, and the specified maintenance plans for stabilization must be developed.
