한국 전통 조형미를 응용한 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 인간이 삶을 영위하는 도구적 기능과 더불어 감정의 표현이 담겨있는 미적 현상이다. 그리고 복식미의 표현은 생활의 구조인 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화에 의하여 다양하게 표출되기 때문에 좁게는 개인적인 표현에서부터 더 나아가 국가적인 특성이 있으며, 또한 한 시대의 모습을 반영하는 시대적인 의미를 갖고 있다. 한국복식은 한민족이 오랫동안 입어온 고유한 민족의상으로 여기에는 한국인의 생활상과 미의식이 반영되어 있다. 복식미에는 역사성을 갖춘 독특한 양식이 담겨있으며 지역적 특성에 따른 인간 삶의 의미가 예술적 표현성으로 투영되어 있다는 것을 감안할 때, 한국복식은 한국인을 상징하는미의 표상이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 한국복식 중에 버선은 긴치마의 고유복식과 조화되어 아름답고 우아한 멋을 자아내는 중요한 복식품의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 그리하여 한복이 지닌 유연한 곡선미와 조화를 이루어 하얀 버선의 갸름한 발맵시는 여성의 자태를 한층 돋보이게 하는 아름다운 전통복식품인 것이다. 본 연구에서는 복식의 미를 완성하며 민족의 고유한 조형적 미의식을 내포한 버선의 조형적 특성을 복식디자인의 모티브로 활용하여 전통 조형미를 응용한 독특한 개성을 지닌 현대적 복식디자인의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌 고찰을 통한 이론적 연구와 보존 유물과 회화 등의 실증적 자료를 통한 버선의 조형적 특성을 분석하고, 한국 전통조형미의 분석에 의한 버선의 조형미를 규명하여 그 결과를 토대로 실물작품을 제작하였다. 버선의 조형적 요소를 중심으로 전통적 소재기법, 문양, 색채 등을 응용한 현대적 감각을 지닌 복식디자인으로 창작하였으며, 이는 20∼40대의 여성을 위한 고급맞춤복형식의 외출복으로 총 8점의 실물작품을 제작하였다. 그리하여 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 전통의 조형미는 우리의 풍토적 조건, 문화적 전통, 인성, 사상 등 여러가지 요인이 얽혀서 이루어지는 것으로 우리의 전통미는 '자연의 미'로 요약되었다. 둘째, 한국전통 조형미를 간직한 버선의 조형적 특성은 우리 민족의 고유한 미의식과 조형의지를 내포하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 버선의 전통적 형태미는 여성복의 실루엣(silhouette)과 디데일(detail)에 다양하게 응용 가능하였다. 넷째, 버선의 형태적 요소 중 예각과 둔각의 비대칭적 곡선의 반복은 율동미와 운동감이 표현된 독창적인 복식디자인의 창출을 가능케 하였다. 다섯째, 버선에 나타난 누비, 문양, 자수기법 등의 장식적 요소를 복식에 도입한 결과, 디자인 표현의 강조점을 형성하는 동시에 미적 효과를 더욱 부가시킬 수 있었다. 그리하여 그동안 한국 전통적 특성을 모티브로 복식디자인을 연구한 경우 주로 문양과 색상의 응용이 많았지만, 본 연구를 통해 형태미의 응용으로도 디자인의 좋은 모티브가 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 한국 전통의 조형미를 현대적 복식디자인에 활용함으로써 잊혀져 가는 민족문화를 계승하고 더욱 발전시키는 가능성을 모색할 수 있으리라 본다.;Dress and its ornament is an aesthetic phenomenon that includes the methodological function and emotional expression of human life. Also, the expression of beauty of dress is presented in various ways by politics, economy, society and culture, and it ranges from individual expression to national features. It also has periodical meaning that reflects the aspect of time. Korean dress and its ornament is original folk clothing that has been worn by Korean nation for a long time, and it reflects Korean lifestyle and concept of beauty. Considering beauty of Korean dress and its ornament includes unique mode of history and meaning of human life following regional characteristics is reflected as artistic expression. Korean socks are one of important dresses that presents beautiful and elegant features harmonized with original dress style of a long skirt. As such, Korean socks are a beautiful traditional dress that emphasizes women's feature with slim fit of a white sock. This study is aimed at suggesting the possibility of modem dress and its ornament design that has unique individuality of Korean culture as well as rediscovering beauty of traditional dress by applying the modeling characteristics of Tarae socks won by newly born to 2∼3 year old infants. As the method of this study, theoretical study through literature examination and analysis of Korean socks through relevant data were done, and I produced a work based on the results. Focusing on the linear characteristics of modeling element of Korean socks, I created it into modem dress and its ornament design applying traditional material technique. It is haute couture style dress targeting women in their 20s to 40s, and total 8 pieces were made. The results of this study are as follows. First, I suggested the possibility of design expression that presents modern senses by applying creative characteristics of Koreans to modern dress and its ornament. Second, various linear elements of Korean socks can be applied to silhouette and detail of women's clothing, and they are created into orignal dress design of dynamics by repetition of unsymmetrical curved lines. Third, I could confirm the possibility of raising international competitiveness of dress and its ornament as well as developing differentiated dress design through modernizing modeling characteristics of traditional dress and its ornament. Fourth, in case of studies on dress and its ornament with the motive of Korean traditional characteristics, they were mainly about application of colors and modes. However, this study made me realize that the application of form also can be a good motive of design.
