아르누보 양식의 패션 디자인 연구

Abstract

This thesis has as its primary aims the following: to create a fashion design based on the aesthetic value of Art Nouveau which flourished from the end of 19 century to the beginning of 20 century. Various literatures and visual materials are used to study the features and aesthetic value of Art Nouveau style and to apply the style in two pieces of modern fashion design works. Art Nouveau began as a response to the machine civilization accompanying mass-produced goods, and with emphases on highest standards of craftsmanship by some major figures including Ruskin and Morris. It reflected serious considerations of organic and dynamic line, motives from animals and plants, historical tastes, aesthetic and epicurean over-decoration, and luxurious hobby. Art Nouveau fashion developed S-curve style and Pegtop style with the desire for something new and exciting, while embracing Kimono, Turbun, Harem pants, and Minaret styles as an oriental style. As a whole, Art Nouveau fashion can be characterized as over-decorative utilizing long-flowing C-style, S-style, organic curve, natural drapes, feathers, and accessories. Art Nouveau, a kind of naturalism, has its inspiring sources from nature, especially flowers. Among such flower patterns, rose, lily, and Iris are mainly visualized with their meaning, shape, color, and texture. The composition of the pattern can be classified into three in according to its features. First, Sasaengpoong fills the whole with floral pattern created by repetition. Second, Danwhapoong is a pattern that a flower pattern is arranged vertically or horizontally. Third, Dangchopoong has as a feature decorative composition which a flower pattern constitutes C or S curve styles. They generally includes elegant and fading colors, and has continuous repetition and modification as its composition features which looks like same flower patterns but shows its variety and uniqueness. In this thesis, two themes, Rose Aroma and Iris Memory are selected among the flower patterns and are used to create two works. First, the Rose Aroma theme is for an evening dress of S-curve style made with Silk Jacquard based on rose image of Art Nouveau. For decoration, artificial rose and its stem, and leaves are used to highlight hip line. By such design associated with a flower garden, cubic effects are expressed as a design point. Second, the Iris Memory theme is for a wedding dress made with tulle based on Iris image of Art Nouveau. This dress has a special point in its top bra, underwear used like an outer garment, involving spangle, beads, pearl, and cubic in order to enhance its visual effect. These works are significant in presenting the development possibilities of various fashion designs by introducing Art Nouveau style into diverse modern fashions.;본 연구는 19세기말에서 20세기 초에 걸쳐서 나타난 아르누보를 바탕으로 아르누보 패션 양식의 미적가치를 고찰하고 그 이미지를 가지고 의상 창작디자인을 시도한 연구이다. 연구방법은 아르누보에 대한 문헌연구와 시각자료를 중심으로 아르누보 스타일의 특성과 이미지를 고찰하고 이들 이미지를 현대패션 디자인에 적용하여 실물작품 2점을 제작하였다. 아르누보는 대량생산으로 인한 기계문명에 반기를 표하며 러스킨과 모리스를 중심으로 수공예의 중요성을 강조하였다. 아르누보는 유기적이고 동적인 선의 중시, 동·식물의 모티브, 역사적 취미와 이국적 취미, 탐미적이고 향락적인 과잉장식과 호화취미가 모두 반영되어 나타났다. 아르누보 패션에서는 s-curve style과 보다 새롭고 자극적인 것에 대한 욕구로 peg top style이 나타나기도 했다. oriental style로는 기모노 스타일, 터번(turban), 하렘 팬츠(harem pants), 미나레 스타일(minaret style)등이 나타났다. 전체적으로 아르누보 패션은 길게 흐르는 듯한 C자, S자형의 유기적인 곡선과 자연스러운 드레퍼리, 깃털과 액세서리 등의 호화로운 과잉장식이 특징적으로 보여 진다. 아르누보는 자연주의 사상으로 그 모티브는 자연물 특히, 꽃의 표현양상이 두드러지게 나타났다. flower pattern중에서도 당시에 가장 많이 보여지는 장미와 백합, 아이리스를 중심으로 꽃이 지니는 의미와 형상, 색채와 질감 등을 시각화하였다. 이러한 패턴 구도의 특성을 3가지로 분류하였다. 첫째, 사생풍 구도로 사실적으로 표현된 꽃, 잎, 줄기가 서로 연결되어 전체화면을 구성한다. 둘째, 단화풍으로 꽃의 형태가 한송이씩 분리되어 규칙적 또는 불규칙하게 배열되어 나타난다. 셋째, 당초풍으로 꽃, 잎, 줄기 문양이 C자, S자형의 곡선을 이루는 장식적인 구도가 특징적으로 나타난다. 색채는 엘레강스와 퇴색된 색조가 많이 나타나고, 패턴의 구도는 끊임없는 반복과 변형으로 flower pattern이 같아 보이면서도 각기 다른 모습으로의 다양성과 독특성을 보여주는 것이다. 이러한 꽃을 표현대상으로 선정하여 2가지 테마인 로즈 아로마(rose aroma)와 아이리스 메모리(iris memory)의 이미지로 작품제작을 하였다. 첫번째, 로즈 아로마 테마는 아르누보의 장미 이미지를 바탕으로 실크 자카드(silk jacquard)소재를 사용하여 s-curve style로 제작한 이브닝드레스이다. 장식적인 요소로는 엉덩이 부분을 강조하기 위해 인조 장미꽃과 줄기, 잎을 이용해 마치 꽃밭을 연상케 하는 입체적 효과를 디자인 포인트로 표현하였다. 두번째, 아이리스 메모리 테마는 아르누보의 아이리스 이미지를 바탕으로 여러 겹의 튤(tulle) 소재를 사용하여 제작한 웨딩드레스이다. 상의는 탑 브라(top bra)의 속옷을 겉옷화 하여 스팡글과 비즈, 진주, 큐빅 등의 장식으로 동적인 시각적 효과를 나타내는데 중점을 두었다. 스커트는 풍성한 실루엣을 형성해 우아하고 로맨틱한 분위기를 표현하였다. 현대에 다양화되어진 패션의 흐름 속에서 아르누보 양식을 현대 의상에 도입함으로써 양식의 이해를 깊게 하여 다양한 복식디자인 개발의 가능성을 제시하고 작품제작을 한 점에서 의의가 있다고 볼 수 있겠다.
