안양시의 성장과 도시구조의 변화

Abstract

본 연구는 서울의 교외화 과정으로 인해 성장하였으나 현대사회에 들어오면서 기존의 위성도시로서의 역할에서 벗어나 독립적인 기능을 가지고 새로이 경기도의 중심도시로서 발전을 하고 있는 안양시를 연구지역으로 선정하여 도시의 성장과 도시기능의 변화를 고찰해 봄으로써 현대 도시의 성장과 변화양상을 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 핵심은 크게 두 부분, 즉 안양시의 도시성장과 도시기능의 변화로 나뉘어 진다. 우선 안양시의 성장과정을 고찰하기 위하여 시가지의 확대와 교통망과 버스노선의 확대, 인구의 성장, 인구구조, 산업별 인구 등의 지표의 변화상을 도표화, 지도화하여 분석하였다. 그리고, 안양시의 기능지역의 변화를 산업기능지역, 거주기능지역, 상업기능지역으로 구분하여 각 지역의 분포도를 통해 각각의 분포패턴을 분석하였으며, 현대 도시기능의 특성을 고찰하기 위하여 산업기능지역을 제조업과 첨단산업으로 나누어 분석하였다. 또한 평촌 신시가지 개발로 인한 안양시의 지역별 기능 변화양상을 고찰하기 위하여 안양시를 구시가지, 신시가지, 외곽지역로 구분하여 각각의 기능상의 특성을 분석해 보았다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 안양시는 경부선과 경수국도상의 서울 남부에 위치한 지리적인 특성으로 인하여 교통이 편리하며 공업기능을 중심으로 성장한 도시이다. 1973년 시로 승격될 당시 안양동을 중심으로 성장하였던 안양시는 지속적인 교통망의 확대와 1980년대 이후 급팽창한 수도서울의 거주교외화의 결과 안양동 중심의 시가지는 더욱 확대되었다. 또한 1989년에서 1993년에 걸친 평촌 신도시 개발은 안양시 전체 인구의 급격한 증가를 촉진하였으며, 점차 그 중심지도 이 지역으로 이동되는 결과를 초래하였다. 둘째, 공업기능을 바탕으로 성장한 안양시는 1970년대에는 섬유의복 및 가죽제품 제조업을 중심으로 하는 공업도시였으나, 1980년대에 이르러서는 제조업의 중심이 조립금속, 기계장비 제조업으로 옮겨가면서 공업의 기능이 점차 축소되는 모습을 보이고 있다. 반면에 1980년대 이후 서울의 인구집중현상으로 인한 교외화의 결과로 주거기능이 확대되었고 서울의 주거 기능을 분담하고자 평촌 신도시의 대단위 주거지 개발로 인하여 평촌을 중심으로 주거기능은 더욱더 확대되었다. 주거기능이 확대됨에 따라서 상업기능도 점차 증가하였으며, 중심 상업지역이 구시가지에서 신시가지로 이동하였다. 셋째, 1990년대 후반에 이르러서 안양의 중심기능지역이 평촌으로 이동함으로써 공공기관이 평촌 신도시 지역으로 이주하였고, 평촌의 편리한 교통, 쾌적한 환경, 발달한 상권, 또한 기존에 형성된 제조업의 첨단제품 제조업으로의 변화 등을 바탕으로 서비스산업과 연구소와 벤처기업 등의 첨단산업이 입지하게 되었다. 본 연구를 함에 있어, 현시점에서 1995년까지의 자료를 바탕으로 도시기능을 고찰함으로 인하여 최근의 도시기능의 변화를 반영하지 못하였다. 따라서 앞으로 변화의 폭이 큰 최근의 자료를 바탕으로 도시의 성장과 도시기능의 변화를 연구한다면 현대 도시의 기능변화 과정을 더욱 명확히 고찰할 수 있을 것으로 파악된다.;The basic concept of this study suggests that cities are forever changing and the evolution of a modern city is centered around a hi-tech, industrial based function. The purpose of this study is to look into the growth and changing aspects of a modern city. For this purpose, Anyang city, because of its growth and changing functions, was selected as the model for this particular experiment. Anyang was also chosen for its independence as a city and its evolution from its traditional role as a satellite city of Seoul. In order to find out the rate of expansion of Anyang, this study analysed the growth of its downtown, its traffic circuit and bus lines, its population growth and structure, and its industrial classificational population by using maps and statistical data. This study researched each distribution chart and respectively divided each area into industrial function, residential function, and commercial function. The area of industrial function is further divided into manufacturing industry and hi-tech industry. For the research on the changing aspects of Anyang The conclusion of the study is as follows; First, Anyang has been a city of good traffic with industrial background. Anyang has a geographic characteristic of being situated in southern part of Seoul. With the constant expansion of traffic and the increasing population of Seoul in 1980s, Anyang has become bigger and bigger. With Pyeongchon new downtown being developed from 1989 to 1993, Pyeongchon has become the center of growth. Second, Anyang was well known for its textile, apparel and leather industry in 1970s. From the beginning of 1980, however, the trend changed into metal and machine manufacturing industry. Also, a suburbanization prevails as more people had lived in Seoul and in consequence, Pyeongchon new downtown was developed. Therefore, residential function of Anyang expanded
