Edvard Grieg의 Cello Sonata in a minor, Op.36에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 Edvard Grieg의 A단조 첼로 소나타(op.36)에 관한 분석연구이다. 그리그는 19세기 후반에서 20세기 초에 활동한 낭만주의 음악가로 노르웨이를 대표하는 민족주의 음악가이다. 그의 음악은 독일 낭만주의 음악을 기본으로 하지만, 당시 음악 문화 조류인 민족주의의 영향을 받아 노르웨이 민요나 민속 춤을 사용함으로써 민족적인 특징을 잘 나타내었다. 그리그는 노르웨이 민족음악의 기초를 마련하였고, 그 수준을 높이 올려놓아 이후 작곡가들에게도 많은 영향을 끼쳤다. 그리그의 A단조 첼로 소나타는 1882년부터 1883년에 작곡된 유일한 첼로 소나타로 첼로 애호가인 그의 형에게 헌정되었다. 이 곡은 3악장으로 구성되어 있는데, 제1악장은 소나타 형식이고, 제 2악장은 두 부분으로 구성된 가요 형식^(1), 제 3악장은 서주가 있는 소나타 형식으로, 전형적인 3악장의 고전 소나타 형식을 따르고 있다. 이 작품에서는 피아노와 첼로의 두 악기가 균형있게 조화되어 있고, 매우 단순하고 서정적인 선율과 화성을 갖고 있으며, 작은 단위의 선율이 모방, 변형, 발전을 이룬다. 각 악장마다 두 개의 주제가 대립, 병치, 혼합, 반복되고, 지속음^(2), 반음계적 진행과 같은 그리그의 특징이 잘 나타나 있는 곡이다. 본 논문에서는 그리그의 민족주의 음악에 대한 이해와 함께 악곡 분석을 통해 이 곡을 더 잘 이해할 수 있도록 하는데 목적을 두었다.;Edvard Grieg(1843-1907)'s Cello Sonata in a minor(op. 36) is presented in this thesis. He is a musician of romanticism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a period of growing national consciousness. He is one of the representative Norwegian musician of nationalism. Though based on the German romanticism, Grieg's works show Norwegian traditional characteristics motivated by the folk songs and dances. This is due to the fact that nationalism was dominating at that time. Grieg had found the fundamentals of Norwegian traditional music, and afterwards, affected many composers in various ways. Grieg's Cello Sonata in a minor, which was dedicated to his elder brother, is the only Cello Sonata composed during the period from 1882 to 1883. It follows the traditional sonata form composed of three movements-the 1st movement is in the sonata form, the 2nd movement is in the lied form. and the 3rd movement is in the sonata form with a prelude. It has very simple rhythm enriched by a harmony produced by a piano and a cello, and shows parallelism, distortion, and development in terms of short motifs. In each movement, a couple of subjects are contrasted, paralleled, mixed, and repeated by using the pedal point and the chromatic motion. Reviewed in this thesis are the nationalism in Grieg's works and his Cello Sonata Op.36.
