Francis Poulenc의 "Sonata for flute and piano"에 대한 연구분석

Abstract

Francis Poulenc은 그의 음악이 지닌 독특한 반음계적인 조성과 화성에 대한 뛰어난 감각과 리듬의 다양함으로 당대 프랑스의 "Les Six" 가운데 중요한 작곡가로 평가되고 있다. 그는 낭만주의 음악이나 인상주의 음악을 부정하며 오히려 J.P.Rameau나 A.Scarlatti의 영향을 받은 신고전주의적인 음악 경향을 나타내고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Poulenc의 후기 작품에 속하는 Sonata for Flute and Piano를 형식, 주제 전개 방법, 리듬, 그리고 화성어법에 관하여 분석, 고찰하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 3악장으로 구성되어 있는 이 곡은 조표를 갖지는 않으나 각각 e-b^(b)-A의 중심음을 통한 강렬한 조성을 내포하고 있으며, 잦은 pedal point의 사용은 이러한 중심음을 더욱 강조하거나 조성을 확립시켜 주는 역할을 한다. 각 악장의 형식을 살펴보면, 제1악장과 제3악장은 종결구를 갖는 복합3부 형식, 그리고 제2악장은 2부 형식으로 이루어진다. 각 악장은 주제선율 및 주요 악구를 제시하는데 같은 주제적 요소가 전 악장을 통하여 사용되는 순환 기법이 사용되었으며, 주제는 모방에 의해 자주 변형 및 발전된다 모방 기법 외에도 오스티나토와 와 같은 대위적 기법이 자주 사용되었다. 또한 잦은 전조와 함께 반음계나 이명동음을 통한 급격한 화음 진행이 특징적으로 나타나며, 이외에도 부가화음과 9화음의 사용, 대칭구조를 이루는 선율, 종지에서 보여지는 Picardy 3rd 등이 Poulenc의 독창적인 음향 세계를 이룩하는데 도움을 준다.;For his unique chromatic tonality and excellent feel for harmony along with the variety in rhythm, Francis Poulenc is viewed as one of the important composers of the French "Les Six". Not influenced by Romanticism or Impressionism of the previous generation, his music reflects Neo-classical taste influenced by J.P. Rameau and A. Scarlatti. This theses analyzes and evaluates the formality, theme development, rhythm, and the harmonic idiom of one of Poulenc's late works, the Sonata for Flute and Piano. This piece, composed of three movements, does not have Key-Signature. Instead, each movement contains intense tonality caused by the main notes e-b^(♭)-A. Also the frequent use of pedal point emphasizes these main notes and helps establish tonality. Looking at the formality of each movement, the first and the third movements are in compound three part form with cadence, while the second movement is in two part form. In each movement, the method of using the same thematic elements to present the theme melody and leading-phrase through out all movements, known as circulating-technique is used. The theme is frequently modified and developed through imitation. Besides imitation, counterpoint like ostinato is repeatedly used. Abrupt harmonic motion through chromatic progression and enharmonic notes along with frequent modulation is distinctive. Also the use of added-chord and chord of 9th, symmetric melody, and the Picardy 3rd in cadence help to form Poulenc's unique musical world.
