여성들의 노후준비와 자원접근성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본연구는 고령화 사회를 맞이하며 여성들이 노후준비를 통해 노년기의 경제적 안정성과 삶의 질을 확보하고자 하는 목적에서 출발했다. 이러한 의도하에서 노년기를 앞둔 여성들의 노동과 관계맺기를 통해 노후준비를 살펴보고, 전통적인 성역할을 수행하는 여성과 유연화된 성역할을 수행하는 여성의 삶을 비교하면서 보살핌노동의 평가절하가 노후의 자원접근성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고자 했다. 본연구에서 사용된 노후준비의 개념은 경제적 자원 마련에 국한하는 것이 아니라 시간분배 및 시간의 구성능력, 관계맺기 방식, 건강상태, 나이듦에 대한 이해, 욕구에 대한 이해, 교육수준, 경력 등의 자원을 마련하는 것을 의미한다. 본연구는 중년여성이 노인여성이 되어 가는 과정과 여성의 전생애를 살펴보면서 노인여성의 문제를 분석하고자 했다. 연구참여자는 55-65세 중산층 여성으로서 본사례 15사례, 노인 남성 두 명을 포함한 보조사례 6사례를 연구에 참여시켰고 심층면접과 문헌연구를 병행했다. 노인여성은 출산과 양육을 마친 여성성을 상실한 존재로서, 가족 내에서 침묵과 수동성을 요구받는 불안한 위치에 있는 존재로서, 노동시장예서도 차별받는 몸으로 이해된다 이러한 맥락하에서 여성들은 정체성의 혼란을 경험하면서 노인여성에 대한 고정관념(stereotype)을 깨뜨리고 노년기를 창조적인 시간으로 구성하고자 한다. 노후준비에서 가장 중요한 작업은 경제적 자원을 마련하는 것이고 평균수명의 연장으로 늘어난 노년기의 소중한 삶을 인식하고 계획하는 것을 포함한다. 본연구는 여성들의 노후준비에서 다음과 같은 시사점을 제공한다. 첫째, 여성들이 개인적 차원에서 젊은 시절부터 공적 영역에서 임금노등을 하면서 노후의 경제적 자원을 마련하는 것은, 보살핌으로 남편이나 자녀를 통해 자원에 접근하는 것보다 유리하다. 젊은 시절부터의 임금노동은 노후의 경제적 자원을 확보해 줄 뿐 아니라 공적 영역에서 다양한 관계망을 형성하며, 이러한 관계망은 다시 경제적 자원에 쉽게 접근하도록 도와준다. 둘째, 여성들이 임금노동을 비롯하여 자원활동이나 종교활동, 정당활동 등으로 관계맺기를 하는 것은 어머니와 아내 역할에 묶이지 않고 노년기에 새로운 삶을 구성하게 하는 자원이 된다. 또한 이러한 관계망의 형성은 노년기에 고립되지 않고 외로움을 느끼지 않게 하는 정서적 자원이 되어 준다. 셋째, 여성들이 노후준비를 철저히 개인적으로 젊은 시절부터 실천한다 하더라도, 보살핌의 문제가 해결되지 않는 한, 현재의 젊은 여성들도 노후의 자원접근의 불리함을 반복하게 될 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 결혼을 통한 보살핌노동의 수행이 결코 여성들의 노후를 보장해 주지 못한다는 것이 드러낸다. 보살핌노동의 평가절하는 노후의 불리한 자원접근성과 연관되어 있으며, 이러한 측면에서 여성들은 여성간의 연대를 통해 보살핌노동의 사회적 재평가를 요구해야 한다. 한편 본 연구는 개인적 차원에서 젊은 여성을 포함한 여성들의 노후준비와 여성정책의 수립 및 여성교육 프로그램 계획에 도움이 될 것이며, 여성학 연구에서 노인여성의 경험에 관심을 갖게 하는 계기가 될 것이다.;This study m e d at securing women economic stability and quality of life of the aged through preparation for the aged in the aging society Preparation for the aged was examined in terms of labor and making a relationship for women who are about to be the aged Approach to resources for the aged were investigated comparing women with traditional gender role to those with relaxed gender role Gender division of labor causes women to be in an oppressed arrangement in terms of care work The oppressed arrangement makes women have access to resources through men and be in a disadvantageous position in terms of distribution of resources and decision-making power In this study, preparation for the aged is defined as economic resources as well as resources for time distribution, tune efficiency, ways of making a relationship, health, understanding of aging, understanding of needs, education and career Investigating the process from middle-aged women to old-aged women and their whole life, this study looked at issues aged women face There were 15 cases which were between 55 and 65 years old, as middle-class women In addition, six supplementary cases including two old-aged men participated in this study In-depth interview and literature review were used for these case studies As middle-aged women are turning to old-aged women, they refuse or respond to, in sorrow, aging Old-aged women who finished giving birth and mothering, lost feminity and are in an unstable position where silence and passivity are asked They are considered as discriminated even in labor market Therefore! they experience chaos of identity, Through this chaos, women want to break the stereotyped role arid organize then aged period in a creative way The most important resources in preparation for the aged 1s to ensure economic resources, and plan on life of the aged And yet preparation for the aged includes planning and organizing the aged as they consider their lives for the aged as important Results of this study are as follows First, in individual level preparation for economic resources through women's work for wage in public area from the young is more advantageous than through care work of their husband and children In addition, work for wage from the young period ensures economic resources for the aged and establishing various kinds of networks m public area, which, in turn, leads to easy access to economic resources Second, making a relationship through work for wage as well as voluntary activities, religious activities, or party activities provides resources in organizing a new life for the aged, far from the role of mother and wife This kind of network also provides affective resources which preventing them from feeling lonely and isolated Third, Individual efforts in womens work for wage and making a relationship in public area is faced with their own limitations. Even though women personally practise thorough preparation for the aged from the young, even young women in the contemporary world will repeatedly experience the disadvantages in approach to resources for the aged unless problems with caring are solve Unjust evaluatior, of care work in the society will put women in a disadvantageous context in terms of access to resources for the aged In this respect, the revaluation of care work is related to the solidarity of women This study examined h a t oppressed arrangement of care work and contradictory devaluation of care work influenced access to resources for the aged Care work through manage does not guarantee women for the aged To secure economic stability and quality of lives for the aged, women's economic independence through work for wage and making various relationships are necessary However, preparation for the aged has limitations unless care work is not in just evaluation This study will help women's preparation for the aged including young women in individual level, establishment for policy on women or plan on educational program for women and approaches of the aged women in women's studies.
