J. Brahms Klavierstucke, Op. 118의 분석 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the romanticism musician Johannes Brahms' (1833-1897) piano music. For this purpose, his life, the historical background of his music, and the characteristics of his works, particularly his piano music were examined, and thereupon, "Klavierstu¨cke, Op. 118" featuring his musical diction was intensively analyzed. Brahms was engaged in music during late romanticism period, and produced a variety of works covering almost all genres. Like his contemporary composers, he controlled extreme expressions and techniques, excluding the program music which was popular at that time. Such a tendency is well shown in his piano works. For example, unlike other composers, he did not attach descriptive and picturesque titles to his character pieces and instead, used abstract but ordinary titles like intermezzo or capriccio. "Klavierstiicke, Op. 118" consists of 6 pieces in total: 4 intermezzos, a ballade and a romanza. Except one piece, the other pieces use a trilogy form, while their melodies frequently show repeated 3, 6 and 8 degree. In addition, he used such inharmonic sounds as passing tone and auxiliary. In this work, a simple accompaniment of brokenchord form appears frequently, and sometimes in wide compasses. For rhythm, he used hemiola and such cross rhythms as 2:3, while using dotted note and syncopation frequently. Moreover] he enjoyed using such counterpoint techniques as stretto, canon and ostinato. All in all, this work has a classical form and technique, and at the same time, shows such romanticism techniques as changing harmonics] free rhythm and the melodies appearing in a wide compass. Namely, this work may be a model work showing Brahms' musical characteristics. In this study, the historical background and other musical characteristics of "Klavierstiicke, Op. 118" are intensively reviewed.;본 논문은 낭만주의 시대에 활동한 작곡가 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833-1897)의 피아노 음악에 대해서 연구한 것으로 먼저 그의 생애와 시대적 배경, 그리고 전반적인 작품과 피아노 음악의 특징에 대해 알아보고 그의 음악 어법이 잘 나타난 후기작품 「Klavierstucke, Op. 118」을 분석 연구하는 내용으로 이루어져 있다. 브람스는 낭만주의 후기에 활동하였으며 전 장르에 걸쳐 다양한 작품을 남긴 인물이다. 그는 동시대의 다른 작곡가들이 그러하듯 극도의 표현과 기교를 자제하고 당시에 유행했던 표제음악(Program Music)을 배제하였다. 그러한 특징은 그의 피아노 작품에서도 보이며 그 증거로 다른 작곡가들처럼 성격 소품(Character Piece)에 묘사적이고 회화적인 제목을 붙이지 않았으며 간주곡, 기상곡 등의 추상적이면서 일반적인 제목을 주로 사용하였다. 「Klavierstucke, Op. 118」은 총 6곡으로 구성되어 있으며 4개의 간주곡(Intermezzo)과 1개의 발라드(Ballade), 한 개의 로만차(Romanza)로 구성되어 있다. 이 곡의 형식은 단 한곡을 제외하고 모두 3부 형식을 사용하며 선율은 3, 6, 8도의 중복이 자주 나타난다. 또한 경과음,보조음 등의 비화성음을 사용하였으며 분산화음 형태의 단순한 반주가 빈번히 나타나는데 이것은 때때로 넓은 음역에서 나타난다. 리듬은 헤미올라(Hemiola), 그리고 2:3과 같은 교차리듬을 사용하였으며 부점과 당김음이 빈번히 나타난다. 또한 근접 모방과 캐논, 오스티나토(Ostinato)등의 대위적 기법을 즐겨 사용하였다. 즉, 고전적인 형식과 기법의 틀을 가지고 있으며 변화화성, 자유로운 리듬, 넓은 음역에 걸쳐 나타나는 선율과 같은 낭만적인 기법을 동시에 지니고 있다. 다시 말해 이 곡은 브람스의 음악적 특징을 그대로 보여주고 있는 대표작이라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 「Klavierstucke, Op. 118」의 연구를 통하여 곡의 시대적인 배경이나 다른 음악적인 특징들에 대하여 알아보았다.;The purpose of this study is to review the romanticism musician Johannes Brahms' (1833-1897) piano music.
