This study suggests a model to identify relationships between Supply Chain Partnership(SCP) and the performance of Supply Chain Management(SCM) based on apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers of finished products (Outsourcing suppliers) that are in a position of getting into Supply Chain Level on apparel industry. The objectives of the research model are to promote an introduction and implementation of SCM into apparel industry, and to minimize costly mistakes by offering alternatives towards desirable SCP between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers of finished products. This research model is based on an integrated model including a relationship between relationship formation factors and partnership strengthening factors in SCP; and supply chain performance a result of that relationship. The formation factors of SCP affect emotional elements (trust and commitment) of strengthening factors, and they, in turn, impact the performance of a supply chain through behavioral elements (collaboration and information sharing). To achieve the objectives, this study examined the following centering around apparel companies and their outsourcing suppliers: first, major factors strengthen SCP on SCM and the relationship between the factors; second, relationships between SCP formation drivers and emotional strengthening drivers; third, 16 hypotheses were formulated to research the degree of impact of SCP on supply chain performance; fourth, the hypotheses were applied to examine and compare research models of apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers; and finally, the status of apparel industry was analyzed, focusing on relationships between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers of finished products. Theoretical and empirical research was executed in parallel to achieve the objectives of this study. Empirical research involved a research methodology using surveys. The survey questionnaires included 26 questions about SCP formation factors, 23 questions about strengthening factors, 9 questions about the performance of SCM and general questions besides of questions posed for validation of the research model. Survey target audiences were limited to designers and merchandisers over five years of experience with apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers for finished products operating mainly in Korea. Total 410 questionnaires were distributed, and 323 questionnaires were returned: 208 questionnaires from apparel companies and 115 questionnaires from outsourcing supplier of finished products. All returned 323 questionnaires were used for analysis. SPSS 12.0 for Windows and AMOS 5.0 were used for data and statistical analysis. The summary of the study result is as the following. Reviewing the result of research model and identification of each hypothesis, total 11 from 16 hypotheses set by this research were selected, 5 hypotheses were dropped, and 4 meaningful paths were added. First, the emotional strengthening factors (trust and commitment) on Supply Chain Partners of SCM based on a relationship between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers affected each behavioral strengthening factor(collaboration and information sharing) with static influence with statistical significance. The result showed that trust gave static influence on commitment, but collaboration couldn't give any influence on information sharing. Second, it also showed the formation factors--mutual respect, mutual benefit, communication and long-term relationship--of SCP amongst apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers affected emotional strengthening factors--trust, but could not affect commitment. These formation factors were affected commitment via trust indirectly. Third, collaboration and information sharing from the vintage point of relationships between behavioral strengthening factors (collaborations and information sharing) and the performance of SCM (performance of transactions) affected static influence on the performance of SCM. Also 4 meaningful paths were found in addition to the set paths on hypotheses, and this showed the case when the formation factors from SCP had a static influence on the behavioral factors(collaborations and information sharing) and the performance of SCM directly. Communication had a positive influence on the collaboration, mutual benefit influenced information sharing and the performance of SCM directly and positively, long-term relationship influenced on a performance of SCM directly and positively. Fourth, the comparison analysis result of research models of apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers showed mutual respect did it had it had no influence on the trust, and mutual benefits could not influence information sharing amongst apparel companies. On outsourcing suppliers, influence of trust on information sharing, commitment to information sharing, mutual benefit to trust, information sharing to performance of SCM (performance of transaction), long-term relationship to performance of SCM (performance of transaction), total 5 paths showed no positive influence with statistical significance. Finally, the result showed that respondents were positive about partnership regardless of a recognition of SCM while it was clear SCM was not known well across apparel industry. From apparel companies, mutual benefit, mutual respect, trust was treated as important according to the sequence on partnership factors, and mutual respect and long-term relationship were treated as important similarly from outsourcing suppliers. The quality of the product was the most important in transactions with outsourcing suppliers for apparel companies, and telephone communication was most frequently used. The information sharing between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers was rare, and strategic information sharing was equally rare. Forty percent of the respondents considered a long-term transaction as a transaction over 3 years, and apparel companies' average transaction period with outsourcing suppliers was between 3~5 years. The contract form was provided by appeal companies mostly, and the short term contract period with yearly basis showed the highest number. The preference for long-term contracts was different between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers. This study presents significant meaning on researchers and practitioners as it had bi-directional research, and comparative analysis between the transaction companies on the same Supply Chain. In addition to that, it suggests a SCP model which consists of formation factors, strengthen factors and performance factors. Also this study suggests long-term relationship factors, which have traditionally been considered as one of performance of partnership, as formation factors of partnership and measured them. Information sharing factors were divided into information sharing and communication, and were measured in parallel. Information sharing factors were not treated separately in earlier researches. An integrated approach to this research considers information sharing and collaboration at the same time, and also factored in antecedent factors that came before together with the result--performance. That all the essentials in formation of a partnership were studied--from the status of SCM on apparel industries, partnership and related contractual status, information sharing, long-term relationship, etc., to providing a strategic view of future SCM--can be considered as one of the most significant, practical contribution of this research. The result of this study provides very basic information about the methodology for building a partnership not only between apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers but also between all constituents in the same Supply Chain. This study also makes a practical contribution to academic research about SCM and SCP, and to the future related research. Some of the finding of this study will be useful for SCP with similar attributes. This study is expected to contribute to promoting SCM implementation in local apparel industry through SCP and conducive to enabling Korean apparel industry to have a global competitive power accordingly.;본 연구는 의류업계의 공급사슬 단계에 있는 의류업체와 완제품아웃소싱 공급업체를 중심으로 공급사슬 파트너십(SCP: Supply Chain Partnership)과 SCM(Supply Chain Management: 공급사슬경영) 성과와의 관계를 모형화하고 이를 규명하였다.
