C. Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano에 대한 연구 분석

Abstract

In the late romantic period, Claude Debussy, a French composer, led the direction of music into the 20th century. He introduced the impressionism movement of literature and fine arts to music and also completed it. This dissertation is about the Sonata for violin and piano by Achille Claude Debussy(1862～1918), which is on the writer’s graduation recital program. In addition, this is the only work for violin by the composer. There is no doubt that this work is based on Debussy's musical style. However, if seen in the aspect of impressionism, there are some differences. Through this sonata, Debussy expresses not only impressionism, but also traces of idealism and personalism. This sonata, which is the last composition of Debussy, was composed around major and minor scales, with oriental modes, tentatonic scales, whole-tone scales, and chromatic scales. It has a three movement structure, and uses the circular thematic structure which was popular in the late romantic period. As seen above, through this piece, with its classical and romantic traits and Debussy’s own musical style, this dissertation will explore how he expressed his musical ideas.;후기 낭만파 시대에 Debussy는 당시 음악이 20C로 향하는 전환점을 맞도록 방향을 제시해 준 프랑스 작곡가이다. 이 시기 문학과 미술 사조에서 '인상주의'를 음악적 언어로 개척한 인상주의 음악의 선구자인 동시에 완성자이다. 본 논문은 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업연주 곡목으로 Achille Claude Debussy(1862～1918)의 유일한 바이올린 작품인 Sonata for Violin and Piano를 연구하였다. 이 작품은 Debussy 음악 양식에 기반을 두고 있음에 의심할 여지가 없지만, 그가 추구했던 인상주의 음악 관점에서 본다면 다소 거리가 있음을 알 수 있다. 그러나 이곡을 통해 Debussy는 인상주의뿐만 아니라 이상주의, 개성주의의 의지를 표현하고 있다. Debussy의 생애 마지막 작품이었던 이 곡은 장음계, 단음계를 중심으로 부드럽고 동양적 선법, 5음 음계, 온음 음계, 반음계 진행이 전곡을 통해 나타나며, 3악장의 구성으로 당시 후기 낭만파 시대에 유행했던 순환 주제적 구성이 응용되었다. 이렇듯 고전적, 낭만적 전통과 개성 있는 Debussy만의 어법이 공존하는 이작품의 연구 분석을 통해 그의 음악적 특징이 어떻게 표현되었는지 알아보고자 한다.
