계녀가류 규방가사의 형성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본고는 계녀가류 규방가사의 형성에 대한 고찰을 통해, 규방가사 장르에서 계녀가류의 위상을 파악하고 그 문학사적 의의를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 계녀가류는 규방가사 장르 내에서 가장 중심적인 유형으로 자리하고 있지만, 규방 가사의 여러 유형 중에서 이질적인 작품적 특성을 드러내고 있기에 그 형성에 대한 면밀한 논의가 필요하다. 계녀가류의 형성에 대한 논의는 규방가사의 형성에 대한 의문을 해결해주고 전반적인 규방가사의 작품세계를 아우르는 논의로 이어지는 기반을 마련하여 줄 수 있기 때문이다. Ⅱ장에서는 선행 연구들에서 계녀가류의 규방가사 원류설을 주장하는 논의들을 검토하였다. 작품적 특성을 기반으로 규방가사의 자료를 범주화하여, 그 자료 가운데 계녀가류를 규방가사의 가장 선행유형으로 지목하는 주장과 그 근거를 살펴보았다. 실증적으로 연대를 입증할 만한 자료가 없는 상태에서, 선행 논의들은 계녀가류의 선행을 입증하는 근거를 제시하지 못하고 있음을 밝혔다. Ⅲ장에서는 계녀가류 형성의 배경적 요소들을 검토하였다. 계녀가류 형성의 동인과 그 시기에 대한 단서를 제공할 수 있는 역사문화적 배경에 대한 고찰이 필요하다고 보았다. 그리하여, 직접적인 배경이 되는 조선후기 사대부 교훈가사의 흐름과 여성 교훈서들의 유통양상을 살펴보았다. 여성 교훈서들과 계녀서의 형성과 유통의 양상, 그리고 향촌 사족들의 교훈가사 향유에서 계녀가류의 형성 시기에 대해 18세기 중반 이후라는 단서를 찾을 수 있었다. Ⅳ장에서는 규방가사하고 있던 계녀서가 가사화되는 모습을 고찰하여 계녀가의 창작 목적이 교훈적인 주제의 효과적인 전달임을 밝혔다. 계녀가는 구성과 형상화 방식에서 18세기 중반 이후의 교훈가사 작품들에서 보이는 면모를 그대로 보이고 있어, 그 형성의 시기가 18세기 중반 이전으로는 거슬러 올라갈 수 없음을 확인시켜준다. 계녀가류의 형성시기에 대한 구체적인 논증을 통하여 다른 규방가사보다 계녀가류가 후대임을 밝혔다. 현전하고 있는 18세기의 규방가사 자료들과 관련기록, 여성들이 사대부 가사를 향유하고 모방하는 모습 등에서 규방가사의 형성 시기를 18세기 초반 이전으로 추정하는 것이 가능하다. 그러나, 계녀가류는 직접적인 원천이 되는 교훈가사의 흐름에서 알 수 있듯이 그 형성시기를 18세기 중반 이후로 볼 수 있다. 계녀가는 가사체의 보편화, 교술성이 극대화된 가사의 형성 등의 18·9세기 가사문학사에서 보이는 변모와 궤를 같이하고 있기에 형성 시기를 추정하는 데에 단서를 제공한다. 계녀가류 규방가사의 형성시기는 18세기 후반에서 19세기 초반으로 파악된다. 그러므로, 계녀가류는 규방가사의 원류가 아님이 입증된다. Ⅴ장에서는 앞서 살핀 계녀가의 형성시기와 그 전개에 대한 논의를 기반으로 규방가사 내에서 계녀가류의 위상을 정립할 수 있었다. 서정적 자아가 드러나지 않은 채 전언의 내용을 나열하는, 계녀가류의 이질적인 모습은 규방가사가 아니라 교훈가사의 맥락에서 이해될 수 있다. 즉, 전범적인 계녀가는 사대부 교훈가사의 영향아래 형성되어 규방가사의 변방에 존재하면서 교훈전달이라는 목적 수행을 위해 향유되었던 것이다. 계녀가류 규방가사의 전개과정에서, 변이형들이 전반적인 규방가사의 흐름에 통합되어 가는 모습을 볼 수 있다. 이는 규방가사 향유층인 여성들이 계녀가를 자신들의 세계관과 미의식에 걸맞게 변이시켜 향유하는 모습이다. 이런 점에서 규방가사 내에서 계녀가류의 위상은 두 가지로 파악된다. 계녀가류는 규방가사 장르 내에서 교본성을 가진 실용적인 가사로서의 이질성과 정서적인 향유의 대상이라는 두 층위로 존재한다. 본고는 계녀가류의 형성에 대한 논의를 통하여, 그 형성의 시기가 18세기 말에서 19세기 초반임을 밝혔다. 계녀가류는 규방가사의 원류가 아니며 사대부 교훈가사의 영향 아래, 규방가사와는 별도의 영역에서 형성되었다. 그러나, 그 변이형들은 규방가사 향유층들의 미의식과 세계관의 영향 아래 변이되었음을 보여준다. 이들 변이형들은 이질적인 면모에서 벗어나, 규방가사의 흐름에 통합되는 면모를 보이고 있다.;This dissertation aims at considering the formation of Kyenyogaryu Kyubangkasa(a type of Kyubangkasa which teach one's daughter with Confucian morals, 誡女歌類) and thereby elucidating the position of Kyenyogaryu in the Kyubangkasa genre and literary historical significance. Although Kyenyogaryu is the central type in the several type of Kyubangkasa, the characterristics are very distinctive. And a contention that clarify the formation of Kyenyogaryu can elucidate the formation of Kyubangkasa. Therefore I think a further investigation on the formation is needed. The process of discussion is as follows. In chapter Ⅱ, I investigate preceding study which insist that Kyenyogaryu is a source of Kyubangkase. As a result, I elucidate the contention that Kyenyogaryu is the earliest type of Kubangkasa is groundless. In chapter Ⅲ, I consider the historical background of Kyenyogaryu. It provides a clue about the inducement and period that Kyenyogaryu is formed. I consider development of Kyohunkasa(didactic Kasa, 敎訓歌辭) which is actively enjoyed by Hyangchon Sajok(鄕村士族) in the latter period of Chosun Dynasty. Also I consider development and aspect of instructive book which purpose to educate women with Confucian morals. Therefore, about the formation of Kyenyogaryu Kyubangkasa, I can get the middle of 18th century as the upper limit line. In chapter Ⅳ, I consider transformation of Kyenyoseo( a book which aims at educating one's daughter, 誡女書> into Kyenyoga. Kyenyoga shows the characteristics of Kyohunkasa in composition and a mode of poetic figuring. According to the period that Kyohunkasa is actively enjoyed, I deduced the period that Kyenyogaryu is formed from the latter half of 18th century to the first half of 19th century. The univerization of Kasache(a style of Kasa, 歌辭體) and the popularization of extremely didactic Kasa help to explain the formation of Kyenyogaryu. And these aspects of transfiguration of Kasa literary hidstory proof that Kyenyogaryu is formed from the latter half of 18th century to the first half of 19th century. In chapter Ⅴ, according to my conference about the formation and development, I fixed the position of Kyenyogaryu in the Kyubangkasa genre. In the typical type of Kyenyoga, lyric self does not show up one's figure. This character is distinctive in the area of Kyubangkasa literature. But, the differenciated Kyenyogaryu shows similarity with Tansigryu(嘆息類) and Hwajonkaryu(花煎歌類). Therefore I fix the position of Kyenyogaryu as two grade. In conclusion, I elucidate that Kyenyogaryu is formed from the latter half of 18th century to the first half of 19th century and Kyenyogaryu is not the source type of Kyubangkasa. The first stage, Kyenyoga was formed in the context of Sadaibu Kyohunkasa. But It's differenciation shows that it has been influenced by the view of world and aesthetic consciousness of people who enjoyed Kyubangkasa.
