십진분류표의 불교 분야 비교분석 및 KDC 개선방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 불교자료 정리에 효율을 기하고자 현재 불교자료 정리에 사용되고 있는 십진분류표들을 비교분석한 뒤 KDC를 대상으로 해서 220 불교 분야에 대한 개선방안을 제안하고자 하였다. KDC 불교 분야 개선방안을 제안하기 위해 문헌연구와 면담기법을 연구방법으로 이용하였다. 문헌연구를 통해서는 불교 분야의 학문적 성격을 고찰해 봄으로써 불교학의 특성을 파악하였고 KDC, DDC, NDC, UDC에서 세계 3대 종교인 불교, 기독교, 이슬람교가 차지하는 위치를 살펴보기 위해 분류항목수와 상관색인의 항목수를 기준으로 비교한 뒤 KDC를 기준으로 해서 NDC, DDC, UDC, CCB(Common Classification Table of Buddhist Books), DDC 동양관계항목전개표의 항목들을 비교하였다. 이상의 문헌연구를 통해서 불교 분야 분류표 항목전개를 파악한 뒤 불교자료를 관리하는 불교 대학도서관 4곳과 언론사 2곳의 분류담당사서와의 면담을 통해 불교자료의 분포와 현행 분류표의 문제점을 파악하였다. 첫째, 항목설정 기준이 모호한 불교교리 분야에 대해 항목설정을 조정해야 한다. 둘째, 지나치게 세분되어 있는 부처님 생애 부분, 설법 분야, 교육 분야, 의식 분야를 축소해야 한다. 셋째, 항목의 배치가 비논리적인 경전 분야의 항목설정을 조정해야 한다. 넷째, 종파 분야의 항목에 있어 현재 연구가 되지 않는 부분이나 시대적으로 적합하지 않은 부분을 과감히 삭제하고 우리나라 종파에 대해 어느 정도 항목설정이 이루어질 수 있도록 해야 한다. 다섯째, 불교예술 분야는 항목을 더 세분화시켜서 전개하며, 예술 분야의 자료를 한 곳에 모을 수 있도록 해야 한다. 여섯째, 표목을 가능한한 정확히 하며, 불명확한 항목에 대해서는 주기사항에서 이를 보완할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 십진분류표 비교분석결과 지적된 이상의 문제에 대한 KDC 불교 분야 개선방안은 원분류표의 골격을 최소한 조정하는 범위 내에서 항목의 세분과 항목추가 위주로 수정전개하였다. 이러한 개선방안은 KDC 4판과 비교했을때 총 40개의 항목이 추가되고, 9개의 항목명이 변경되었으며, 41개의 항목이 삭제되고, 23개의 항목이 이치되었다. 또한, 65개의 주기사항이 추가되거나 내용이 변경되었다. 주요한 개정 사항은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 항목설정 기준이 모호했던 불교교리 분야에 대해서는 부처님이 초전법륜에서 설한 개념인 三法印과 緣起論을 기준으로 해서 관련교리를 나누고, 누락되었던 空思想과 修行論에 대해 항목을 추가하였다. 둘째, 지나치게 세분되어 있는 부처님 생애 부분, 설법 분야, 교육 분야, 의식 분야에 대해서는 각 분야의 세목들을 없애고 상위 항목에 통합하여 분류하도록 하였다. 셋째, 항목의 배치가 비논리적인 경전 분야에 대해서는 우선 남방계경전과 북방계경전으로 경전을 양분한 뒤 각 경전내에서 經·律·論 三藏 체제로 나누었으며, 그 외의 경전에 대해서는 기타경전 항목에 모았다. 넷째, 종파 분야의 경우 선종과 비선종계열로 양분한 뒤 각 계열 내에서는 나라별로 분류하므로써 특정항목에 자료가 집중되던 문제를 해결하였다. 또한, 종파 분야가 다른 분야에 비해 팽창가능성이 높다는 점을 감안하여 여유공간을 충분히 주는 형태로 분류번호를 배정하였다. 다섯째, 불교와 예술 분야에 분산되어 있던 불교예술자료를 의식 目 내 불교예술세목을 설정하여 한 곳에 모았다. 본 연구는 불교 전분야를 대상으로 한 분류표 비교분석 결과와 분류담당사서의 의견을 토대로 불교 분야 분류표 개선방안을 제안하여 앞으로 계속해서 이루어져야 할 분류표 개정에 보탬이 되고자 하였다.;In order to propose a more efficient collocation of Buddhist information, this study has analyzed the decimal classification systems and revised the 220 Buddhism in KDC. For this study, literature researches and interviews were performed. Through literature research, the characteristics of Buddhism were reviewed. KDC, DDC, NDC, and the UDC were compared in respect to the KDC system. After that, NDC, DDC, UDC, CCB, and DDC Oriental Related Classification Systems were compared to KDC. Then, four cataloging librarians of the Buddhist University, and two others were interviewed to find out the problems in the distribution and the classification systems of Buddhist information. The problems were as follows; 1. The area of Buddhist doctrines must be reallocated and reorganized clearly. 2. The areas that are narrowly subdivided (such as Buddha's life, speeches, educations, ceremonies) should be organized into a much larger unit. 3. The area of Tipitaka (The bible of Buddhism) must be partially reallocated. 4. The Buddhist sects that are not presently researched or updated must be removed and Korean Buddhist sects should be allocated in the Buddhist sect area. 5. The Buddhist art should be subdivided more detailed, and the informations on Buddhist art should be found in a single location. 6. The entries should be exact, and the notes must support the exactness of them. The revision of Buddhism in KDC was focused on adding and expanding entries that were not included in KDC 4th edition. As a result, 40 entries were added, 9 names were changed, 41 were removed, 23 were moved to other numbers. And, 65 notes were added or changed. The revision of Buddhism in the KDC was presented based on the results of the analysis of classification systems and opinions of cataloging librarians of the field. If much more comparison and analysis of classification systems were done not only in Buddhism, but also in many areas, it would certainly be useful information for revision of the 5th edition of KDC.
