접속어미 '-며'에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 종래에 대등접속문 어미로만 다루어졌던 접속어미 '-며'가 대등접속문 어미와 종속접속문 어미의 기능을 가지고 있음을 밝히고, 어떤 의미를 가지고 있는지를 구체적으로 알아보는데 목적이 있다. Ⅱ-A장에서는 접속문의 구조와 통사상의 특징을 고찰한 후에 '-며' 접속문을 선행용언의 종류에 따라 나누어 살펴 보았다. 대등접속문과 종속접속문은 선행절과 후행절이 가지는 통사적인 충위가 다르기 때문에 통사적 특징도 다르게 나타났다. 즉 대칭적인 선·후행절이 대등하게 연결된 대등접속문은 선·후행절 자리바꾸기, 접속사 되풀이만 가능하였고, 역행 무형대용화는 불가능하였다. 그러나 선·후행절이 의존적인종속접속문에서는 역행 무형대용화만 가능하였다. 이를 바탕으로 '-며' 접속문을 살펴 보았는데, 먼저 선행용언이 동작성 용언인 경우 선·후행절 자리 바꾸기, 접속사 되풀이, 역행 무형대용화를 적용하여 보았더니, 선·후행절 자리 바꾸기와 접속사 되풀이가 불가능하고 역행 무형대용화만이 가능하였다. 결국 이를 토대로 동일주어의 행위가 연결된 접속문이 종속접속문 어미 '-며'로 연결됨을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 선행용언이 상태성 용언이거나 지정사인 경우는 선·후행절 자리 바꾸기와 접속사 되풀이가 가능한 반면 역행 무형대용화가 불가능한 것을 통하여 기존의 연구와 같이 대등접속문 어미 '-며'로 연결됨을 확인하였다. 이 외에 '-며'접속문이 가지는 통사적 특징을 알아 보았다. 그래서 접속어미 '-며'가 주어나 선행용언의 종류에 상관없이 모든 문장에 올 수 있었고, '-며' 접속문에는 시상어미가 완료상 '-었'과 추측상 '-겠-'이 결합될 수 있음을 설명하였다. 그리고 선·후행절이 분리된 문장일 때는 시제전이가 일어나지 않았고, 보조사는 '는'만이 주격조사 자리에 결합될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 다음으로는 접속어미 '-며'가 가지는 의미를 파악하였는데, [공간성 나열]과 [시간성 나열]중의 [동시성]의 의미를 알 수 있었고, 접속어미 '-고'나 '-면서'와 달리 topic-comment 선·후행절의 연결과 [-양보]의 문장을 동시에 연결해 주는 의미특징을 설명하였다. Ⅱ-B장에서는 문말에 나타난'-며'가 담화상에서 '-고 하다'축약후 선행절의 주절과 후행절이 생략되고, 절종결 고저선이 '-며 '에 얹쳐서 의문법 종결어미 '-다며'로 기능하고 있음을 밝혔다. 또한 '-다고'와의 비교를 통해 '-다며'가 담화상황이 바뀐 경우의 종결어미이고 '-다면서'와의 비교를 통하여 문어체보다는 구어체에서 잘 나타난다는 특징을 알 수 있었다. 이렇게 하여 본 논문에서는 접속어미 '-며'가 [공간성 나열], [동시성]의 의미를 가진 대등·종속접속문 어미임을 알 수 있었고, 문말에 나타난 경우는 선행절의 주절과 후행절이 생략되어 종결어미로 '-다며'로 기능하고 있음을 파악할 수 있었다.;The aim of this study is to clarify the syntactic and semantic funtion of verbal ending '-my^(□)' In chapter Ⅱ, I attempted to describe the syntactic and semantic function of '-my^(□)'. The main issues dealt with in this chapter are as follows (1) After considering structure and syntactic characteristics of conjunction sentence, I attempted to demonstrate that syntactic characteristics of '-my^(□)' which have a functions as conjunction ending in coordinate and subordinate conjoined sentence. By means of operations such as 'Change of protasis and apodosis', 'Endless conjoining of conjunctor' and 'anaphorization', I argued for the funtion of '-my^(□)' that it is a conjunction ending in coordinate and subordinate conjoined sentence. (2) In addition, there are syntactic characteristics in conjunction sentence of '-my^(□)'. (a) When the conjunction sentence of ‘-my^(□)' which is divided by the subject of 2nd person or a tense adverb, 'tense ending's transfer' can't be occurred in. (b) '-keyss-' presenting the presumption of the speaker and '-ass-' indicating the completion can be combined with conjunction sentence of '-my^(□)', but the retrospective ending '-t^(□)-' can't be combined with it. (c) '-my^(□)' can't co-occur with delimiters but the subjective particle can be substituted the delimiter 'n^(□)n'. 3) To clarify the semantic function of '-my^(□)', I tried to replace '-my^(□)' with '-my^(□)ns^(□)' '-ko'. So '-my^(□)' was analyzed to [Enumeration] [Simutaneity]. Besides, it had [Enumeration] in conjunction sentence of topic-comment structure as compared with '-ko' and [Simultaneity] in conjunction sentence of [-concession] as compared with '-my^(□)ns^(□)' In chapter Ⅱ-2 I approached to analyze '-my^(□)' which was appeared in sentence ending. After the apodosis and the main clause of protasis were omitted, terminal contour was putted on '-my^(□)' and then a conjunction ending '-my^(□)' was had function of sentence ending. Chapter Ⅲ as a conclusion, summarizing the main point of the study, at the same time I have to suggest something which can't be solved perfectly. Finally, this study demonstrated that '-my^(□)' took syntactic funtion of conjunction ending in coordinate and subordinate conjoined sentence, and semantic function of [Enumeration] [Simutaneity].
