Abstract

This study aims at a understanding of Spain organ music in the sixteenth century and the organ music of Cabezo´n in particular. In the sixteenth century, Spain in which Charles V governed was very developed socially, economically, and culturally, etc in every way. Especially, Charles V's personal interest about organ music made a great contribution to development of Spain music. Spanish organs in the reign of Charles V were built according to medieval practice : they usually had the main manual what is called, 'Organ Mayor' ,the secondary manual what is called 'Cadireta' and two pedalboards of thirteen keys each. Organ performance technique of Spain was found in the treatsie of Sanct Maria who was a theorist at that time. Early Antonio de Cabezo´n(1510-1566) who was a court organist became a Charles 5's favorite musician. A brilliant virtuoso performer and a masterful composer, Cabezo´n, influenced the development of keyboard music in Italy, Germany, The Netherlands and England to a greater extent than is even yet fully known. Charles V's son, Philip Ⅱ, favoured him over any other artist. Cabezo´n accompanied him on his travels to Eupure. These journeys enabled Cabezo´n to meet some of the most eminent masters of the time outside Spain. He left their mark in the keyboard music of other nations as well as enriching that of Spain. His music is rooted in the instrumental tradition of Spain, but he was considerably influenced by Josquin des Prez, particularly in his understanding of harmony and counterpoint. Cabezo´n's innovations developed expression of individual characteristics of the organ as well as certain musical forms. His works include tientos, glosas, diferencias, fabordon, versos, canons and hymns. He preferred to derive the successive thematic material from the initial motif, frequently treating it in augmentation or diminution. His music gave a great inspiration to J.P. Sweelinck who was a founder of the North-German School and to S.Scheidt. Organ music of Spain was more developed in the Baroque period by Cabezo´n's contribution.;우리 나라에서 스페인 음악은 그 중요성이 아직 덜 인식되어져 왔던 것이 사실이다. 그러나 한때 유럽의 많은 부분을 통치할 만큼 확장되었던 스페인은 문화, 사회적인 면 뿐 아니라 음악에 있어서도 매우 발달했던 나라였다. 그러므로, 당시 가장 번성했던 16세기 스페인 오르간 음악에 대한 연구는 오르간 음악 역사의 또 다른 중요한 원천을 발견하게 한다. 본 논문은 스페인 음악 역사에 있어 가장 화려하게 꽃 피웠던 16세기를 중심으로 그 시대 사용되었던 오르간의 특징과 연주법에 대해 알아보고 당시 가장 왕성하게 활동했던 음악가인 Antonio de Cabezo´n(1510-1566)의 음악 작품을 통해 16세기 스페인 오르간 음악의 특징을 자세히 알아보았다. 16세기에 들어와 그 전까지 여러 지방들로 나뉘어 있던 스페인이 하나의 왕국으로 통합되면서 정치적 안정에 따른 예술의 융성이 시작된다. 이것은 스페인의 음악 발전에 영향을 미치게 되고 특히, 당시 통치자였던 Charles Ⅴ세의 오르간에 대한 개인적 관심은 오르간 음악 발전에 크게 이바지하게 된다. 스페인의 오르간은 보통 Organ Mayor(제 2건반)와 Cadireta(제 1건반)라 불리우는 2개의 건반을 가지고 있었으며 pedal은 그다지 발달하지 못하였다. 스페인 오르간 연주법은 그 시대 이론가였던 Tomas de Sancta Maria(c.1510-1570)의 논문을 통해 상세히 기록해 놓은 것을 볼 수 있다. Cabezo′n은 그 시대 가장 뛰어난 음악가 중의 하나로 스페인 오르간 음악의 혁신자라고 할 수 있다. 특히, 형식면에서 diferencia, tiento 등의 발전에 크게 기여했고 스페인 전통 음악을 기초로 한 모방적이며 대위법적인 작품을 많이 썼다. 스페인의 오르간 음악은 Cabezo′n의 공헌으로 바로크 시대에 더욱 발전하게 되며 후에 북독일 악파의 창시자였던 J.P.Sweelinck와 S.Scheidt에게 영향을 주었다.
