밀리터리 패션에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 군복에서 디자인의 영감을 받아 등장한 밀리터리 패션을 1960년대 이후 여성패션을 중심으로 하이패션과 스트리트 패션에서 그 양상을 살펴보고 그 조형의지를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 논문을 수행하기 위하여 밀리터리 패션의 배경은 복식사 관계 서적과 시사잡지를 이용하였고, 밀리터리 패션의 구체적인 양상은 패션잡지를 참고하였다. 밀리터리 패션의 근원인 군복의 특징은 위엄성과 기능성이라 할 수 있다. 1960년대 이전의 밀리터리 패션은 1,2차 세계대전을 중심으로 처음 생겨났다. 전쟁과 공황이라는 특수한 여건상 물자절약과 활동적인 형태라는 필요에 따라 기능적인 실용복(utility clothes)의 형태로 나타났고 군복의 분위기를 지닌 각진 어깨의 테일러 슈트로 엄격하면서도 매니쉬한 분위기 를 나타내었다. 1960년대 이후 밀리터리 패션이 등장할 수 있었던 배경적 요소는 1960년대의 우주룩의 유행, 1970년대 이후 패션의 캐주얼화, 1980년대 이후 이콜로지의 부각과 함께 떠오른 카키, 브라운의 유행, 1990년대의 복고풍 유행 등을 들 수 있다. 하이 패션에서 1960년대부터 1970년대 초반의 밀리터리 패션은 미니멀(minimal)한 양상을 보여 쿠튀르풍의 포멀함을 유지하면서도 심플하고 절제된 라인으로 표현되었다. 밀리터리 감각은 주로 색채보다는 디테일을 통해 표현되었고 당시 유행하던 우주룩의 영향으로 우주 비행사복, 핼맷형의 모자나 부츠, 점프 슈트가 등장했다. 1970년대 후반부터 1980년대에는 패드를 넣은 넓은 어깨와 풍성한 실루엣이 매니쉬(mannish)하게 나타났다. 액세서리나 소품등을 이용한 적극적인 표현방법이 등장하였고 소재, 패턴, 색채 등에서 그 기법이 다양해졌다. 1980년대 후반에는 동구권의 페레스트로이카 정책에 대한 세계적인 관심과 프랑스 혁명 200주년(1989년) 기념으로 밀리터리 패션이 컨셉트가 되었고 과장된 넓은 어깨가 점차 사라지고 몸의 실루엣을 살려주게 되었다. 1990년대의 밀리터리 패션은 레트로(retro)풍으로 1990년대 초에 발발한 걸프전 영향과 2차 대전 종전 50주년(1995년)을 기념하면서 많이 등장하였다. 자연스럽게 인체의 실루엣을 살려주면서 색채나 디테일에서 밀리터리의 분위기를 표현하였다. 다양한 양상의 밀리터리 패션이 선보였지만 전반적인 경향은 1940년대, 1960년대의 복고풍으로 디테일이나 색채만으로 밀리터리의 분위기를 표현하였다. 한편 스트리트 패션에서는 일반인의 스포티한 패션으로 1960년대 말, 1970년대 초에 반전운동과 관련하여 젊은이들이 아미 룩을 착용하였고 히피들은 허름한 낡은 군복이나 모포를 즐겨 사용하였다. 또한 Hell's Angels, 펑크들이 아방가르드한 패션으로 검정색 가죽 재킷에 징이나 요란한 뱃지, 나치의 표식 등을 장식하여 공격적이고 강한 메시지를 전달하였다. 1960년대 이후 밀리터리 패션의 조형의지는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 밀리터리 패션은 현대 여성들의 잠재된 아마존 욕구를 표현한다. 제복의 위엄성이 느껴지는 밀리터리 패션은 외부의 간섭이나 통제로부터 자유롭고 싶은 여성의 욕구를 대변하고, 군복의 터프한 면을 강하게 부각시킨 밀리터리 패션은 스스로 강해진 현대 여성의 이미지를 표현하였다. 둘째, 밀리터리 패션은 활동성의 표현이다. 밀리터리 패션의 착장 방법은 1960년대 영패션의 대두와 함께 성장해온 활동적 감각과 접목되면서 현대 젊은이들의 캐주얼하고 스포티한 감각을 표현하였다. 셋째, 밀리터리 패션은 반항정신을 표현한다. 반전운동에 참여했던 젊은이들이나 히피들이 착용한 낡은 군복과 폭력적인 Hell's Angels나 펑크들이 착용한 검정색 가죽 재킷은 기성세대의 전통적 가치기준에 대한 반항과 정치적·사회적 반항을 의미하였다.;This study, on the military fasion which has been inspired by the men's miliatry uniform, is composed of an examination of the following the aspect on the women's hi-fashion and the street fashion and the analysis of it's intention. In order to accomplish this task, I have centered my studies on the books related to the fashion and magazine articles and photographs. Military uniform, the origin of the military fashion, has been characteristic of dignity and functionalism. Military fashion, before the 1960s came into being by the start of world war Ⅰ and Ⅱ. By it's peculiar status, the war and financial cirsis, the military fashion appeared as the utility clothes. At that time, the military fashion was a tailored suit with alarge shoulder pads, and it gave out a mannish image. Military fashion after the 1960s, has been in fashion owing to the next reasons. These includes interest in space of the l960s, boom of sports and health, women's right in 1970s. And by the interest in the ecology as of the 1980s, Khaki and brown were in fashion and by the 1990's retro was seen everywhere. From the 1960s to the early half of the 1970s, Hi-fashion, by the influence of the minimalism, maintained it's couture style, which is the formal image as well as moderating the line and simplifing the details. The military feeling were presented mostly by the details then the colors. By the interest in space, item such as space pilot's suit, helmet styled hat, and boots were used and presented the military fashion. An example of such fashion is the jump suite. From the latter part of the 1970s to the 1980s, mannish image was sensed greatly by the wide shoulders with pads and large silhouette. Also, very active expression appeared using accessories and many new techniques. In fabric, pattern, and coloring new technique was used. By the end of the 1980s, it puts the military fashion as the trend that world's interest on the Eastern Europes Perestroica policy and 200 year anniversary of the French revolution. However, the wide shoulder slowly decreased and the feminine silhouette revealing the women's body line. The 1990's theme was the retro. By the start of the Gulf war and 50 year anniversary of the World War Ⅱ, the military fashion reappeared. It followed the styles of the 1980s by only using the color and maintaining the natured silhouette. Many different expression techniques appeared, but the trend was the retro. However, on the streets, young generation wore unisex army mode. This was because of the influence of anti-war movement. Hippies however, wore old uniforms and worn out blankets. Also, Hell's Angels, punks used black leather jacket with Nazi symbol, badge and eyelet expressed to show their agressiveness as an avantgarde fashion. The intention, after the 60's military fashion as follow. First, the miliatry fashion expresses the modern women's hidden Amazon need. The stictness expressed in uniform let's out the amazon need to be free of restraint of society. The toughness of the uniform expresses the women's desire of freedom from the oppression. Second, military fashion is an expression of the movement. It presents sporty feeling of today's young generation. Third, Military fashion presents rebellion. To the youngs or the hippies that attened the anti-war movement, old military uniform meant social and political rebellion. Also, to the aggressive Hell's Angel or the punks, black leather jacket meant a rebellion against the general conventional values of the older generation.
