수작업전거제어와 자동전거제어의 비교 연구

Abstract

최근 국내에서는 많은 도서관들이 이미 도서관전산화를 구축하였거나 전산화 계획을 추진 중에 있어, 본격적인 도서관전산화시대를 맞고있다. 특히 목록시스템은 오늘날 추구하고 있는 도서관토탈시스팀의 핵심을 이루고 있다. 전거제어는 목록의 가장 기본적인 기능인 집적기능을 유지하기 위해 수행하는 활동이다. 그러므로 전거제어는 목록시스템을 구성하는 서브시스템 가운데 필수적인 요소라고 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 아직 국내에서는 전거제어에 관한 연구나, 자동목록시스템에서 전거제어의 필요성을 밝힌 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 더구나 자동목록시스템을 이미 구축하였거나 설계하고 있는 도서관 가운데 목록시스템의 필수적인 요소로서 전거제어를 고려하고 있는 도서관은 그리 많지 않다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 수작업목록시스템과 자동목록시스템에서 갖는 전거제어의 의의를 비교해 보고, 나아가 보다 효율적인 전거작업의 수행방안을 모색코자 하였다. 본 연구는 이화여자대학교 도서관의 저자명 전거목록을 분석한 결과 수작업시스템에서 작성되는 저자명 전거레코드의 87.9 %가 온라인목록에서 작성할 필요가 없는 레코드였으며, 4.2 %가 온라인목록의 검색기능으로 대체 가능한 레코드였다. 그러므로 수작업시스템에서 작성되는 전거레코드의 92.1 %는 온라인목록에서 불필요한 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 목록의 집적기능을 유지하는 전거제어활동은 자동목록시스템에서도 절대적으로 필요한 요소임이 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 컴퓨터의 검색기능은 오늘날 목록사저가 수행하는 전거작업의 상당 부분을 감소시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 자동목록시스템에서는 전거제어에 의한 목록의 집적기능을 그대로 유지하면서, 컴퓨터의 다양한 검색기능을 최대로 이용함의로써 보다 효율적인 전거작업을 수행할 수 있을 것이다. 셋째, 저자명 전거파일은 서지파일내에 존재하는 모든 저자명을 위한 전거레코드를 포함하고 있어야 한다는 일반적인 이론은 제고되어야 한다. 넷째, 자동목록시스템에서 저자명 전거파일의 개인명 표목은 현재 알려진 가장 완전한 형태로 작성되는 것이 바람직하다. 다섯째, 저작에 나타나는 형태로만 상호참조를 만들어야 한다는 참조작성 규칙은 제고되어야 한다.;Recently, a number of libraries have set up or are setting up library automation in the country, and the era of genuine total library system has come. Authority control, especially, is the core of total library system for which many libraries are searching nowadays. Authority control is an activity to perform gathering function that is the most fundamental function of cataloguing. Authority control, therefore, is all essential element among subsystems of cataloguing system. In spite of the foregoing, any study relating to authority control or clarifying the necessity of authority control in automated cataloguing system has nearly not been attained. There are not so many libraries that refer authority control as an indespensible element of their cataloguing system. This study consequently compares the meaning of authority control in automated cataloguing system with that in manual cataloguing system, and further looks for mere available procedure of authority work. As a result of anyalyzing name authority file in the library of Ewha Womans University, 87.9% of name authortiy record made by manual system didn't have to be made in online catalog, and 4.2% of that is able to be covered by retrieval function of online catalog. 92.1% of authority records made in manual system eventually turned out not to be necessary in online catalog. Based on the above result, I suggest the conclusion of this study by the following: First, the activity of authority control performing gathering function proved to be an essential element even in the automated cataloguing system. Second, the function of computer can reduce quite a many authority work performed by catalog librarian. In addition that the gathering function of catalog consisting of authority control is maintained as it is, an efficient authority work can be executed by full means of computer's versatility. Third, a general theory that name authority file must include every name authority record in bibliographic file have to be reconsidered. Fourth, the personal name heading of name authority file in automated cataloguing system is desirable to be set up as more fuller form than till now. Fifth, reference making rule that cross reference must to be made as a form of title page usage only have to be reconsidered.
