Abstract
This thesis is on the analysis of Bach's Cello Suite BWV 1012, No.6. Bach composed six unaccompanied cello suites during his Co^(¨)then period (1717-1723), apart from work for violin for which he composed three sonatas and three partitas. These six suites which have their orgin in the Middle-Ages had a unique and characteristic development in France, Italy and Germany respectively. It was Johann Jacob Froberger (1616-1667) who finally established the form. These suites follow the form of the Baroque classic style. Each suite begins with a grand Prelude that is employed as an overture before the dance movements. Then follow, according to the sequence of movements, the Allemande, Courante, Sarabande and before the concluding Gigue in each case there are two intermezzos (opitinal dance) which consist of a Sarabande Gigue and Minuete in No.1 and No.2; Bourre^(´)e in suite No.3 and No.4; and Gavotte in suite No.5 and No.6. By analyzing Bach's suites, the following characteristics are found: First, each movements is in binary dance form except the Prelude and Gavotte. Second, the contrast in tempo is directly related to the arrangement of movements in the order of moderato-fast-slow-fast. Third, there are elements which unify all the movements. These elements show the uniformity of key by utilizing the relative key. The main character of this suite plays a role unifying each movements. The last suite, BWV 1012, N0.6 was Written for the viola pomposa invented by Bach. This suite is conceived of as one whole with all the other suites, and it is large in scale and quite splendid in expression compared with other suites. It has 5 strings(C, G, D, A, E), which when played by the cello, especially, requires smooth progression when in the high position. In the beginning of the Prelude the contrast of dynamic, through the definite marks of f and p rarely shown in Bach's works, is evolved remarkably. Following the Allemande, slow and grave, the conjunct motion is contrasted with the active Courante in skip · disjunct motion. In conclusion, Bach's Cello Suites brought out the possibility as a solo instrument rather than as an accompanimental instument.;본 논문은 석사과정 이수를 위한 것으로 Johann Sebastian Bach Cello Suite BWV 1012,No.6를 중심으로 J. S Bach와 baroque suite에 관해 조사, 연구·분석하였다. Baroque suite의 정형적인 양식인 Allemande-Courante-Sarabande-Gigue를 따르며 allemande 앞에 prelude or sarabande 다음에 optional dance로 gavotte (No. 1, 2에는 minuette, No. 3, 4에는 bourre´e, No. 5, 6에는 gavotte를 첨가시켰다.
