이야기꾼의 성향과 이야기의 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본고에서 연구자는 이야기 상황이 배태하는 이야기의 서술 형식이 개별 이야기꾼의 세계인식과 어떠한 연관을 맺으면서 운용되는 가를 살피고, 그 발생상황에 근거하여 이야기의 형식적인 측면이 의미와 어떻게 연결되는 지를 고찰해 보았다. 이 과정에서 연구자는 이야기의 존재기반에 대한 충실한 이해를 위하여 현장에서 직접 조사한 자료를 대상으로 논의를 전개했다. Ⅱ장에서는 이야기의 조사 경위를 개관하였으며, 연구 대상이 되는 이야기목록을 함께 제시했다. '이야기의 연행 상황'이라는 토대에서는 이야기꾼, 청중, 이야기판, 그리고 이야기를 총체적으로 바라보는 입장이 요구된다. Ⅲ장에서는 먼저 이야기꾼 개인의 환경과 그가 구연한 이야기 자료를 바탕으로 이야기꾼의 이야기 인식 태도에 대해 살펴보고, 이야기판에 따른 이야기의 선택과 변이 양상에 대해 알아보았다. 김노명은 경험 세계의 일상적 인물을 이야기에 등장시켜 이야기 세계와 현실을 밀접하게 연관시키고 있다. 또한, 신재우의 경우는 등장인물의 역사적 인물을 내세워 객관 세계에 대한 관심을 드러내고 있다. 한편, 이준백은 현실에서 인정받지 못하는 인물들의 성공을 주로 다룸으로써 허구 세계를 인정하고 적극 수용하는 태도를 취하고 있다. 이야기판의 상황에 따라서 이야기꾼의 이야기 선택과 구연태도는 차이를 드러내며, 이는 이야기 세계를 생동하고 다양하게 하는 역할을 한다. Ⅳ장에서는 '메타 나레이션'의 틀을 사용하여 이야기의 구연 방식의 특성을 규명하고, 이야기꾼이 선택하는 시점과 장면화 방식을 중심으로 이야기의 서술 태도를 비교·검토했다. 청자를 의식하는 이야기 상황을 토대로 이야기꾼들은 각자 시점을 알맞게 선택하고, 그에 따라 이야기 세계와의 거리를 조정하게 된다. 각자가 선택하는 서술의 태도는 이야기꾼의 개성 뿐 아니라 이야기 구조 자체가 갖는 특성에 기인하기도 한다는 사실을 장면화를 통하여 살펴보았다. Ⅴ장에서는 앞서 살펴 본 이야기 상황에 기반한 서술 태도의 특성을 바탕으로 개별 이야기가 구현되는 양상을 고찰하였다. 각자 자신의 사회·경제적 배경에 따라 이야기꾼은 같은 유형의 이야기일 지라도 달리 구현한다. 개별 각편이 드러내는 의미를 통해 이야기꾼과 관련한 전승의 원리가 밝혀질 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 본 논문은 이야기 세계가 갖는 이러한 특성을 '이야기 상황'이라는 총체적 틀을 통해 살피기 위해 시도되었으며 '이야기꾼'과 이야기판의 상황'이라는 외적 형식에 주목하여 내적 의미 지향과의 관련성을 추적하려한 데 그 의의가 있을 것이다.;I examined in the thesis how the forms of reciting stories relates the individual storyteller's recognition for a world and how the formal side of a story relates to its meaning with respect to the formative situations of oral tradition literatures. While studying on this, I builit up my logic with personally collected materials to comprehend the existence foundation of story substantially. In the Chapter Ⅱ, I depicted the whole circumstances of inspecting the stories and showed three storytellers' oral narrated stories which were the objects of this study. Describing atmospheres of Iyaki-Pan, the oral narration performance, I investigate each storyteller's narrating attitude and ability, constitution of the audience and its reaction aspects. It is asked to have a total view point of storyteller, audience, Iyaki-Pan and story on the basis of story performing circumstances. In the Chapter Ⅲ, I inspected storyteller's attitude of perceiving a story from their environments and retaining material. Kim, Nomyung closely relates the story world to the real world by entering common characters of experienced world in his story. In the case of Shin, Jaewoo, it is possible to recognize that he is interested in the objective world by considering that he casts many historical characters in his story. Making characters, which did never attract public attention in the real world. success in the story, Yi, Junbaek assumes attitude of admitting and acception the fictitious world actively. In the Chapter Ⅳ, using metanarration frame, I explained characteristics of the forms of reciting stories and inspected storytellers' narrating manner according to selecting a view point and method of making a scene. On the basis of narrating situation that storytellers are conscious of audience, they select their own view points and it makes possible to control distance between the real world and the story world. Narrating attitude chosen be each storyteller is caused not only by their individuality but also by the properties of the story's structure itself. In the Chapter Ⅴ, it was considered how the subject came out from the theme and narrating manner chosen by storyteller. Each theme of the story chosen by storytellers is closely related with their living environment. Storyteller has different aspects on handling various discords and ways to settle them according to the propensities of the social status which he lives in. Storytellers recognize the story world in their own way depending on their own living environment in the real world, and construct the manner of narrating story which is proper for their situation and subject to express. This thesis was written to inspect the characteristics of the story world through the general form of story narrating situation. It was meaningful to trace the relationship for the inner significancy with respect to the outer form of the circumstances of Iyaki-Pan.
