Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare and discuss how to receive the experiences of Korean War through writers' literary imagination, this study is based on the post-war writers' novels : the works of Oh Sang-won. Seo Ki-won and Kang Yong-jun. So far the studies which were related to the experiences of the war emphasized the sence of nihility and the damaged consciousness. This study is founded on the defeat and the despair into the aspects of forming the positive will of living. Through the works which deal with the scene of the battle, the aspects of developing soldiers' inner consciousness were analyzed in the second chapter. The experiences of the war are internalized by the retrospection, the interior monologue, the stream of consciousness, the montage techniques, and the cinematic techniques etc. The writers expose the violence of the war and the ideological falsehood, reveal the human nature and the matter of guilt. And the humanity, the human solidarity, the productivity symboled by women show the will of overcoming the devastated inner world and the inhuman circumstances in the battle. The works describing the experiences of the prisoners of war use the images of closure and confinement, such as a secret room and wire entanglement, symbol-system, the peculiar time structure. They reveal human condition confined in thhe absurdity and the will against this absurd situation. This process is accomplished through the existential attitude to overcome the meaningless death. In the third chapter, the motif expanded variously and each writer's awareness of reality was discussed. The unemployment motif shows the discharged soldiers' conflict, they don't accommodate themselves t o society after the war. This reveals the internal injury resulting from the war, criticizes the moral corruption prevailing in the post-war society and the contradiction of the social structure. The experiences of the war make the inner world of the person participating in the war ruined. This study explained the absurdity of the post-war society and the concealed truth through the objective vision. Due to the destruction of the residential place and the home-break, people become alien from the society. This is the common character of the novels which show the impoverished post-war life in the absolute poverty. the impoverished life caused by the war makes the aspect of alienation concrete by revealing the shunned space on the outskirts of American army post, the broken community-band, and the home with the destruction of the family morals. And there is the will to overcome the violence of the war and the poverity, to recover the home. Kang Yong-jun's autobiographical novels express the deep sorrow of the family-separation and the hometown-loss in order to show the will of the rehabilitation through the consciousness of the homecoming. This procedure was analyzed by the aesthetic elements forming in the retrospection and the dreams. In the fourth chapter, this study treated the novels which contain the reception of the war-suffering. The physical and mental scars remind us of the ideological violence and of the war-violence. The pathological symbols which were expressed by the physical deformity, the guilt, the moral corruption caused by the self-division. and. the psychosis, mean the personal ruinous inner world and such unhealthiness is more suppressed by the corrupted reality after the war. But the pathological symbols are to indicate the suppressed conditions and to funtion as the curative imagination opening the grounds of revival. Oh Sang-won, Seo Ki-won, and Kang Yong-jun, these writers' novels suggest the direct experiences of the war, besides they treated the search for the human inside and the existential matters. And the works show the suffering of the war which can be cured by the will to overcome the reality. From this point of view, they acquire greater importance in the histry of Korean literature.;본 연구는 전후작가에 해당되는 吳尙源·徐基源·姜龍俊의 소설을 중심으로 한국 전쟁의 체험이 각 작가의 문학적 상상력을 통하여 수용되는 양상을 비교·논의하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 전쟁 체험과 관련된 기존의 연구서들은 전후소설에 나타나는 허무의식과 피해의식을 강조하고 있는데 본 연구에서는 이러한 기존의 연구들을 논리 전개의 출발점으로 하되 패배와 절망의 양상 속에 잠재되어 있는 긍정적인 삶의 의지가 형상화되고 있는 양상에 초점을 두고 논의를 전개시켰다. Ⅱ장에서는 전투현장을 다룬 소설을 대상으로 군인들의 내면의식이 전개되는 양상을 분석하였다. 전쟁 체험은 회상, 내적독백, 의식의 흐름 기법, 몽타즈 기법, 영화적 기법 등을 통해 인물의 의식 속에 내면화되고 있으며 이를 통해 전쟁의 폭력성 및 이데올로기의 허위성을 폭로하고 인간의 본질적 의미와 죄의식의 문제를 드러내고 있다. 또한 휴머니티, 인간적 연대, 여성으로 상징되는 생명력을 통해 戰場의 비인간적 상황 및 황폐해진 내면 세계를 극복하려는 의지를 보여주고 있다. 한편 포로 체험을 형상화한 소설들은 밀실, 철조망 등의 폐쇄·감금의 이미지나 상징장치, 독특한 시간구조를 통해 전쟁이 야기한 부조리한 상황 속에 갇혀 인간의 조건과 이에 반역하는 의지를 보여주고 있는데 이러한 과정이 무의미한 죽음을 극복하려는 실존적 자세를 통해 이루어지고 있음을 고찰하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 Ⅱ장에서 고찰한 전쟁 체험의 내면화 양상을 고려하여 戰後의 삶을 다룬 소설들을 분석하였는데, 주제의 다양한 확대와 각 작가의 현실 인식을 중심으로 논의가 전개되고 있다. 전후사회에 적응하지 못하는 제대군인들의 삶의 양상은 失職 모티프를 중심으로 한 갈등의 제양상으로 드러나고 있으며 이는 전쟁의 內傷을 보여주는 동시에 전후사회에 만연되어 있는 윤리의 타락과 사회구조의 모순에 대한 비판적인 시각을 반영하고 있다. 이러한 고찰을 통해 전쟁 체험이 참전군인들의 내면 세계를 황폐하게 만들었지만 한편으로는 전후의 부조리한 현실과 은폐된 진실을 인식할 수 있는 객관적 시각을 확보하게 했음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 전후의 절대빈곤 속에서 피폐해진 삶의 모습을 형상화한 소설의 공통된 특성은 전쟁의 파괴적 속성을 거주공간의 파괴와 가정의 해체로 인한 인간의 非定住的 존재 양상을 통해 상징적으로 드러내고 있다는 점이다. 이러한 소설들은 미군 주둔지 주변의 소외된 공간, 공동체적인 유대와 전통적인 가족윤리가 파괴된 가정, 가족을 잃은 여성의 비극적 삶의 궤적을 보여줌으로써 전쟁으로 인해 훼손된 삶의 모습을 人間疎外의 양상으로 구체화시키고 있으며 전쟁의 폭력과 궁핍한 현실을 견디어 내고 가정을 회복하려는 의지를 보여준다. 한편 姜龍俊의 자전적 소설은 離散과 失鄕의 恨이라는 비극적 양상 속에서 원상회복을 위한 의지적 작용을 歸鄕意識을 통해 보여주고 있는데 이러한 과정은 회상과 꿈의 형식이 갖는 미학적 특성을 통해 분석되고 있다. Ⅳ장에서는 전쟁의 상처를 수용하고 있는 소설을 대상으로 하여 신체적·정신적 患部를 가지고 있는 병적 상태가 전쟁과 이데올로기의 폭력성을 환기시키는 동시에 사회병리와 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있음을 고찰하였다. 비정상적인 신체인 불구적 외형, 죄의식과 분열된 자아로 인한 윤리의 타락상, 정신이상 증세 등으로 표출되는 病理的 상징은 황폐해진 개인의 내면 세계를 보여주며 이러한 불건강성은 타락한 전후 현실에 의해 더욱 억압당하는 양상으로 나타남을 알 수 있다. 그러나 病理的 상징은 이러한 억압의 상황을 보여주는 동시에 재생의 지평을 열어주는 治癒의 상상력으로 작용하고 있다. 吳尙源·徐基源·姜龍俊의 소설은 전쟁의 파괴성이나 피해 상황 등 전쟁으로 인한 직접적 체험을 제시하는 데서 그치지 않고 인간 내면에 대한 탐구와 실존의 문제를 보여주고 있으며 전쟁의 傷痕을 치유할 수 있는 현실 극복의지를 드러내고 있다는 점에서 한국 문학사에서 중요한 의의를 갖는다.
