"여성다움"과 여성의 영성교육

Abstract

본 논문은 융심리학자인 울라노프(Ann Belford Ulanov)의 여성다움(the feminine)에 관한 심리학 이론을 여성을 위한 영성교육에 적용해 보고자하는 시도이다. 울라노프는 여성다움의 요소가 여성 뿐 아니라 남성에게도 내재해 있다는 통전적 견해를 제시한다. 이같은 견해는 전통적으로 여성에게만 부과되어 온 여성다움의 요소의 의미를 재발견 함으로써, 여성들에게 권위를 부여할 뿐 아니라 여성의 영성 성숙을 위한 독특한 방향을 제시해 준다. 제1장은 본 논문의 서론으로서 여성다움의 존재요소가 남성우월적인 이원론과 기독교 신학에서 배제되어 여성의 권위와 지위를 평가절하시켜 왔다는 점을 문제 상황으로 설정하고, 여성들이 자신의 권위를 회복하기 위해서 여성다움의 의미를 회복시켜야 한다는 견해를 제시하고 있다. 여성다움의 요소는 여성들의 영적 능력과 결부되며, 여성의 영성 성숙에 필수적인 선행조건이기 때문에, 여성들의 영적 삶 속에서 여성다움의 요소를 회복해야 한다는 필요성을 제시하면서 목적을 밝혔다. 제2장은 여성다움이 전통적 이원론과 심층심리학에서 어떻게 이해되는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 전통적으로 서양 사상의 주류를 형성해온 대부분의 철학자와 교부들 및 기독교 신학자들 뿐 아니라 동양의 유교사상 등 동서고금을 막론하고 그 뿌리 깊이 깔려 있는 이원론적 성고정관념은 여성이 가지고 있는 다양성과 잠재성을 여성답지 못하다는 억압해 왔다. 그리고 우월한 남성성과 열등한 여성성을 남녀에게 각가 부과하여, 여성의 역할을 가사노동과 양육에만 제한시키고 여성의 사회적인 활동을 저해하는 결과를 가져왔다. 이런 의미에서 남성다움-남성성과 여성다움-여성성의 고정관념이 형성되어온 과정 및 내용을 분석하고 연구하는 작업, 그리고 새로운 인간 이해를 위한 대안은 어떤 것인지를 고찰하는 작업은 여성해방을 위한 중요한 과제라고 본다. 본 논문은 이처럼 남성은 우월하며 여성은 열등하다는 이원론적 성고정관념은 남성과 여성의 유사성보다는 차이점을 더 강조하여 왔기 때문에, 여성의 억압을 낳고 강화시켜 왔다는 관점을 전제로 한다. 따라서 전통적인 이원론이 형성되어온 사상의 흐름을 비판적으로 고찰하였다. 그 다음에는 심층심리학에서 전개되어온 여성다움에 관한 논의에 관하여 살펴보게 될 것이다. 이 논의의 전개는 일반적으로 세 가지로 분류되는데, 첫째는 프로이드(S. Freud)에 의해 대표되는 생물학적 접근이고, 둘째는 호니(K. Homey)와 미드(Magaret Mead)에 의해 대표되는 사회·문화적 접근이며, 마지막은 상징적 접근으로서 융(C. G. Jung)이 이에 속한다. 제3장은 울라노프가 제시하고 있는 여성다움 및 여성다움과 기독교 신앙과의 관계를 고찰하고 있다. 울라노프는 융심리학자로서 여성다움에 관한 융의 논의를 종합하여 정리하고, 그의 특수한 시각이 기독교 신학에 어떤 함의를 주는지 연구하였다. 그녀는 종교와 심층심리학이 모두 사랑이라는 문제에 관심을 가지며, 상징을 가지고 작업한다는 점에서 공통점을 발견한다. 울라노프는 성성(sexuality)에 대한 융의 이해, 즉 여성다움의 요소는 여성 뿐 아니라 남성에게도 내재해 있다는 이해를 바탕으로 기존의 성고정관념에 도전한다. 여기서 남성중심적 이원론에 의해 왜곡되어온 여성다움의 의미를 회복할 수 있는 새로운 대안이될 수 있는 개념이 제시될 수 있다. 여기서 여성다움이라는 것은 융 심리학 이론에서 빌어온 것으로서 하나의 상징적 개념이다. 울라노프는 여성다움의 요소를 여성의 경험, 특히 자녀를 수태하고, 출산하고, 양육하는 경험을 통해 고찰하고 있다. 여성들은 그들이 가지고있는 독특한 여성다움 요소를 수용함으로써, 잃어버린 권위를 되찾을 수 있을 수 있다. 여성다움의 요소는 여성의 영적 능력과도 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있다. 울라노프는 인간이 가지고 있는 영의 타자와의 연결은 여성다움의 존재요소에 의해 기능하다고 말한다. 따라서 여성의 영적 삶이 성숙하기 위해서는 여성다움의 회복이 요청된다. 제4장은 울라노프가 제시하는 여성다움의 존재요소가 여성의 영성교육에 어떤 함의를 주는지에 관해 고찰하였다. 이 장은 두 부분으로 구성된다. 첫번째 부분은 일반적 영성과 훼미니스트 영성이란 무엇인지에 대한 고찰이다. 여성해방을 지향하는 훼미니스트 영성은 여성의 경험에서 출발한다는 점에서 일반적 영성과는 구분된다. 따라서 가부장제 영성에 의해 억압된 여성의 온전한 영성성숙을 위해 훼미니스트 영성의 선행작업은 여성의 경험에 근거하여 기존의 신학을 비판하고 재구성하는 것이다. 4장의 두 번째 부분은 여성의 영성 성숙을 위한 바람직한 교육은 어떤 것인지를 울라노프의 이론에 근거하여 구성해 보았다. 여기서 영성교육의 목표는 여성의 영적 성숙이다. 여성은 여성다움의 인지양적 및 존재요소를 통해 그들 안에 내재해 있는 타자로서의 영과 관계 맺을 수 있다. 따라서 여성의 영성 성숙을 위해서는 여성다움의 회복이 반드시 필요한다. 여성다움의 회복은 여성의 영성 성숙, 즉 여성의 관계성 회복과, 통전적 자아확립과 직결된다. 이같은 목적을 지향하여, 여성의 영성교육을 위한 교육 과정, 교사의 역학, 그리고 영성성숙의 모형을 구성해 보았다. 제5장에서는 논문 전체의 연구내용을 종합하고, 논문의 의의 및 한계를 밝힘으로써 결론을 지었다.;This thesis is a attemt to apply psychological theory regarding the feminine of Ann Belford Ulanov who is a Jungian psychologist to spirituality education women. Ulanov presents the whole opinion that the elements of the feminine are immanent not only in women but also in men. As this kind of opinion rediscover the meaning of the elements of the feminine that were traditionally imposed upon women, it not only give the authority to women but also provides the special direction for spiritual maturity for women. The fist chapter, as an introduction of this thesis, sets an issue that the authority and position of women has been devalued due to the exclusion of the feminine elements of being from the dualism of men's superiority and christian theology and it presents an opinion that the women should recover the meanings of the feminine to recover their authority it made clear, providing necessity that the feminine elements should be rediscover in spiritual life of women because the feminine elements are lied with spiritual capabilities of women and are necessary condition precendents of spiritual maturity. The second chapter explains how the feminine is understood in traditional dualism and in depth psychology. The dualistic sexual streotypes that has been rooted deeply in philosophers and Fathers who formed the main currents of western thoughts, christian theologians, confucian ideas and throughout the world have oppressed diversity and potentiality of women superior masculinity and inferior femininity have been endowed to mem and women each, resulted in limitation in housekeepiing and child nurture of woman's role and a block of social activities of womem. Therefore the studies and analysis of the process and contens that has formed the fixed ideas of masculine/masculinity and feminine/femininity, and investigations of alternative for new understanding of human are important subjects for woman Iiberation in this thesis. It assumes the point of view that the dualistic sexual stereotypes which says the men are superior and women inferior, emphasize the different points thesis presents an investigation of flow of ideas that has been built in depth psychology. The unfold of this discussion classifies three parts. The first classification is the biological approach represented by S. freud and the second one is the sociocultural approach represented by K. Homey and M. Mead. The last classification is the symbolic approach represented by C. G. jung. In the third chapter, it investigates the relationship between the feminine and the christian belief and the feminine of Ulanov. Ulanov as a Jung psychologist, synthesized the Jung theory regarding the fiminine and studied how her special point of view infers to the christian theology. She found the common matters in that the religion and depth psychology concerned the love and worked with symbol. Ulanov challanged the existing sexual stereotypeswith the Jung's understaning regarding sexuality that explained the element of feminine were immanent not only in women but also in men. Here, a noton, which can be an alternative for recovering the meaning of feminine that has been distored by man catered dualism can be presented. The meaning of the feminine is a symbolic notion quoted from Jung psychology. Ulanov investigated the elements of feminine through woman's experience, especially conceiving, delivery and nurturing. women can recover the lost authorities by receiving their peculiar elements of feminine. The elements of feminine are closely relate with spiritual capacities of women. ulanov explained that connection with the other of spirit are possible by the elements of feminine. Therefore the recover of feminine is requested for maturity of spiritual life of women. In the forth chapter, this thesis how the elements of feminine showed by Ulanov infered to spiritual education of women. This chapter consists of two parts. The first part is for a study of the general meaning of spirituality and feminist spirituality that aim for woman liberation is distinguished from general spirituality in that it starts from experience of women. Therefore, precendent works of feminist spirituality are recompasing and critisizing the existing theology based on experience of women for sound spiritual maturity of woman that has been oppressed by the spirit of the patriarchal system. In the second part of the fourth chapter, it show the vision abut desirable education for spiritual maturity of women based on Ulanov's theory. The purpose spiritualrity education is the spiritual maturity of women. women can have relations with spirit as the other in themselves through the feminine. Therefore, the recovery of the feminine is directly linked with spiritual maturity of womqn that is the recovery of nature of relationship of women and self-establishment of the wholeness. To aim these kinds of purpose, this thesis provides the curriculum, roles of teachers, and model of spiritual maturity for women's spirituality education. In the fifth chapter, it synthesized the research of this thesis and concluded with explaining the significance and limitations of this thesis.
