버네큘라(Vernacular)디자인의 표현양식과 디자인 과정에 관한 연구

Abstract

This thesis defines the Vernacular design which is ignored in the history of architecture and interior environmental design, also examines the background and factors that have an effect on the design characteristics and Vernacular expression. We study the possibility of locality presentation focusing on the space composition and its phenomenon shapes. Vernacular design has been compared ta the hi-style mode aspect and only considered as a supply dimension rather than considered as an essential domain. However, there was no further approach or trial to understand it as a prototype. Therefore, Vernacular design based on natural features and indigenous is needed to be reconsidered. As a strategy to cope with the uniformity, Vernacular design probability is worth revaluating, and this presents a method avoidable from the uniformity, This intends to try an approach to reveal regional and cultural features by re-analysis based on modeling consciousness and senses. This study is intended to show the design approach as follows: 1. We classify the factors and backgrounds affecting on the architectural presentation of Vernacular design by social-cultural background and indigenous factors. And we classify social-cultural backgrounds by historical, cultural, social backgrounds and classify indigenous factors by natural environmental factors and geological, geographical factors. Then, we present an approach applicable to design according to contemporary analysis of various localities. 2. We give tables by analysing the basic space form and structure and materials of Vernacular design examples. Also, we show Vernacular design types focusing on climates. 3. We show a Vernacular design type according to regional characteristics and apply characteristics, structure and design element in accord with contemporary consciousness and modeling senses. The procedure of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. We define the concepts of Vernacular design and study its characteristics in accordance with the era. 2. We analyze factors which affects on the description of Vernacular design by social-cultural background and natural features, and show this as the requirement applying to Vernacular design process. 3. We present a Vernacular design type through the analysis of space organization, form, material, and problem solution and also present a framework applicable to contemporary thought and modeling consciousness. 4. According to approaching method of Vernacular design presented in this thesis, We summarize the study subjects by showing the examples about Vernacular design space planning and analysis. As Vernacular design study which can represents the value of post-modern society, this thesis has a point to try the design approach suitable to the sense of new era and modeling consciousness from the context of locality and culture.;이 논문은 건축과 실내 환경 디자인의 역사 속에서 소외되어온 버네큘라(Vernacular) 디자인을 정의하고 그 특성 및 버네큘라적 표현에 영향을 주는 배경과 요소를 규명하며, 포스트 모던 사회에서 요구되는 민족주의에 대한 관심에 따른 지역화의 표현 가능성을 공간구성 원리와 그에 따른 현상적 형태를 중심으로 연구한다. 버네큘라 디자인은 과거의 양식이나 원형적인 것으로 이해되어지기보다는 하이 스타일(hi-style)의 양식적인 측면과 대비되어져 왔으나 하나의 고유한 영역으로 인식되기보다는 통속적이며 필요에 따른 공급의 차원으로만 생각되었고 그 이상의 접근이나 시도가 미비했다. 문화적 정체성을 회복하려는 범세계적인 경향에 힘입어 새로운 지역성의 표현 시도가 활기를 띄게 됐는데 이는 근대화에 따른 서구화의 영향으로 세계주의가 곧 자문화에 대한 배척과 열등감으로 나타났으며 그로 인해 지역의 풍토성과 토속성을 바탕으로한 버네큘라 디자인은 자연히 소홀히 취급되어져 왔던 과거로부터의 의식 전환의 필요성을 느끼게 되었다. 획일화에 대응하는 전략으로서, 버네큘라 디자인의 가능성은 재평가를 할 가치가 있으며 이는 가능성과 합리성에 기초하면서도 획일성에서 벗어날 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 이는 포스트 모던 사회의 조형의식과 감각을 기초해서 지역적, 문화적 특성을 재해석하여 표출할 수 있는 접근을 시도하려는 의도이다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 디자인 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 1. 버네큘라 디자인이 지닌 지역적, 문화적 특성을 전통적 맥락에서 파악하기 위해 건축적 표현에 영향을 미치는 요인과 배경을 분석해서 크게 사회 문화적 배경과 풍토적 요인으로 분류하고 다시 사회 문화적 배경을 역사적, 문화적, 사회적 배경으로 나누고 풍토적 요인을 자연환경적 요인과 지질학적, 지리학적 요인으로 나누어서 다양한 지역성을 현대적인 해석에 따라 디자인에 적용시킬 수 있는 바탕으로써 제시한다. 2. 다양한 지역성과 문화적 특성을 표현하는 수많은 버네큘라 디자인 사례를 기본적 공간의 형태와 구조 및 재료의 이용을 분석하여 도표화하고 기후를 중심으로 유형을 제시하여 현대적 적용이 가능하도록 한다. 3. 버네큘라 디자인의 지역적 특성에 따른 유형을 제시하여 유형별 특징과 구조 및 디자인 요소를 현대적 의식구조와 조형 감각에 맞게 활용할 수 있도록 한다. 연구 과정을 요약하면 다음과 같다 1. 버네큘라 디자인 용어들에 대한 개념을 정의하고 그 내용적 특성을 시대적 흐름에 따라 고찰한다. 2. 버네큘라 디자인의 표현에 영향을 미치는 요인을 사회문화적 배경과 풍토적 요인으로 나누어 분석하고 이를 버네큘라 디자인 과정에 적용시키는 요건으로 제시한다. 3. 지역성과 문화적 특성을 표현하는 버네큘라 디자인을 기후와 지역성을 중심으로 공간의 조직과 형태, 재료와 문제점 해결 방안 등을 통한 분석을 통해 유형을 제시하여 현대적 사고와 조형의식에 맞게 활용할 수 있는 적용의 틀을 제시한다. 4. 논문의 과정을 통해 제시한 버네큘라 디자인의 접근 방법에 따라 구체적인 버네큘라 디자인의 공간계획과 분석, 디자인 도출에 대한 실례를 제시함으로써 연구의 내용을 정리한다. 본 논문은 포스트 모던 사회에의 가치를 대변해 줄 수 있는 지역성과 문화적 특징의 산물인 버네큘라 디자인 연구로 지역, 문화적 문맥으로부터 새로운 시대 감각과 조형의식에 적합한 디자인을 시도하고자 하는데 연구의 의의가 있다.
