韓國 傳統木家具의 美的 特徵에 관한 硏究

Abstract

우리나라의 전통 목가구는 한국 특유의 형태와 문양을 나타냈었으나 구한말에 시작된 서양문화의 도입 이래 전통의 전승이 확립되지 못하고 있다. 전통이란 민족생활양식의 역사적 발전 과정을 바탕으로 형성된 정신을 통하여 형식의 표현, 조형성 및 기법을 토대로 민족의 양식을 세우고 계승한 것이다. 이러한 과정없이 전통이 계승되어지는 것을 바랄 수 는 없다. 현대에 있어 우리 전통문화의 올바른 인식과 계승, 발전을 통하여 오늘날의 서구화된 생활양식과 조화되는 실용적이면서도 독창적인 창작이 이루어져 한국 전통가구 양식이 세계속에 나타낼 수 있어야 한다 본 연구는 전통가구 중 조선시대 사랑방가구와 안방가구의 배경을 분석하고 기능, 유형, 재료, 제조 공법, 색채 및 장식에 따른 특징적 성격을 연구하고, 한국 전통가구에 대한 올바른 이해와 가치를 발견하여 현대생활에 계승. 발전시킬 수 있는 요소를 찾고자 한다. 연구 과정은 첫째 제1장 서론에서는 연구의 목적 및 의의, 범위 및 방법에 대하여 기술하였고, 제2장에서는 우리 전통적 생활양식, 건축 공간 및 우리 전통 목가구가 발전한 일반적인 배경을 고찰하였다. 제3장에서는 전통 목가구의 기능 및 유형별 특징을 추출하고, 재료와 제조 공법에 따라 전통 목가구를 분류하였다. 아울러, 본 연구가 발견할 수 있었던 조선시대의 당채장 담긴 문양의 색채 및 장식에 나타나는 상징성을 분석하였다. 이는 이제까지 알려진 우리 전통 목가구의 색채와 장식과는 구별되는 전혀 새로운 요소를 발견하는 계기 가 되었다. 제4장은 전통 목가구의 조형의 원리를 이해 하기 위하여 전통 조형을 선과 형태, 색, 문양 등을 고찰하였고, 아울러 우리 건축과 가구 척도의 일치에서 생겨난 조화를 살펴보았다. 제5장에서는 전통적 가치의 단절과 가구의 고유가치의 전승 가능성에 관하여 서술하였다. 6장에서는 전술한 내용들을 바탕으로 우리의 전통미를 이해하였고, 전통가구의 적극적인 활용과 그 우수성이 재창조되어야 한다는 결론을 내렸다.;The present study seeks to analyze characteristics of Korean traditional wood furniture with respect to its raw materials, structures and images, which will contribute to a rediscovery of the value of Korean traditional wood furniture, and to its rebirth as a part of modern life. Until the turn of the century, the Korean traditional wood furniture had developed with a unique tradition of form, images and craftsmanship. The inflow of Western culture and industrialization, begun toward the end of Chosun Dynasty, however, has seriously impeded succession and further development of the Korean traditional wood furniture. Like any other tradition, the tradition of Korean traditional wood furniture had been formed in ceaseless interactions with Korean history and culture. Thereby, the former had continuously influenced and been influenced by the latter. A further succession and development of the Korean traditional wood furniture cannot be realized without thorough understanding of the interactions, and forms, styles and technics of what the Korean traditional wood furniture craft has accomplished. Lack of the understanding would also kinder further development of Korean furniture as a whole. As for the research procedure and content of the present study, Chapter 1 discusses the research purpose, areas and methods of the study while Chapter 2 examines the physical and cultural background against which the Korean traditional wood furniture craft has been developed. Chapter 3 analyzes a collection of Korean traditional wood furniture pieces and classifies them with regard to functions, forms, raw materials and technics. Chapter 4 crystalizes the tradition of the Korean traditional wood furniture, and discusses the harmony between its aesthetic and traditional characteristics. Chapter 5 looks back at the impediments of modern succession of the Korean traditional wood furniture craft, and take up the issue of installing modern life to the Korean traditional furniture. Chapter 6 draws a conclusion that there is ample possibility for Korean traditional wood furniture to become of great modern utility.
