E. Krenek의 Piano Sonata, No.1, Op.2에 관한 연구

Abstract

20세기에 들어서면서 양대전을 계기로 음악적 스타일과 정치적 실체가 급변하는 가운데 후기낭만주의를 거쳐 표현주의, 무조주의, 신고전주의, 12음 음악등 새로운 음악 양식들이 출현하였다. 이러한 다양한 양식을 대변하는 20세기 신음악(Neue Musik)의 제 2세대 작곡가들 중 한 사람으로 에른스트 크레넥(Ernst Krenek : 1900∼1991)을 꼽을 수 있다. 그의 음악은 대위법, 소나타 형식과 같은 전통적인 요소와 낭만적인 서정적 선율, 그리고 현대적인 Jazz적 요소, 12음기법과 더불어 더욱 변형, 발전된 음렬기법등 20세기의 거의 모든 주된 경향을 통해 독창성을 발휘한다. 그의 피아노음악 역시 후기 낭만주의를 거쳐 12음음악에 이르기까지 다양한 양식과 그 특징을 가지고 있으며, 각 작품마다 시대별 음악사조와 Krenek 자신의 음악어법이 잘 절충되었다. 본 논문은 E. Krenek의 초기 조성음악과 무조음악으로 쓰여진 피아노 곡들의 주요 특징과 함께 특히, 쉬트라우스(R. Strauss)나 말러(G. Mahler)의 후기 낭만주의의 영향을 받은 피아노 소나타 제 1번의 작곡기법을 연구한 것이다. 이 소나타는 비엔나에서의 유년시절 마지막에 작곡된 것으로 전체적인 형식구조는 고전적 스타일을 따르고 있으나, 내용면에 있어서는 후기낭만적 요소가 많이 함축되어 있다. 한편, 조성은 명시되어 있으나 곡 중간의 계속되는 전조로 인해 조성이 모호해 지는데 이는 곧 Krenet의 무조음악 양식을 예견한다고 할 수 있다. 제 1악장은 E^(b)장조로 비교적 전통적인 소나타 형식(The Sonata form)을 따르고 있으며, 주요동기에 있어 선율의 반음계적 진행과 순차와 도약이 번갈아 나타난다. 제 2악장은 1악장의 나란한 조인 c단조의 3부분 형식(The Three-part form)으로 1악장과 같이 잦은 빠르기 변화가 일어나며, 제 1악장의 동기적소재가 변형, 발전되면서 주요동기들은 곡 전체에 걸쳐 동형진행으로 나타나 곡의 통일감을 형성한다. 제 3악장은 다시 중심조성이 E^(b)장조로 돌아오며, 제 3론도 형식(Third Rondo form)을 취한다. 1, 2악장과는 달리 변박은 이루어지지 않으나 이 소나타의 주요특징인 선율의 반음계적 진행과 동형진행은 역시 자주 사용된다. 결론적으로, E. Krenek의 피아노 소나타 1번이 갖는 성격은 고전적인 틀 안에서 낭만적이고 현대적인 음악어법이 주요 선율소재를 가지고 유기적으로 활용되었다. 더 나아가 E. Krenek의 전반적인 음악 스타일, 즉 그것은 그의 작품에서 보여지는 다양한 미학으로의 접근이며, 끊임없는 변화의 연속이라 할 수 있다.;With the radical change of musical style and two world wars providing political substance as a momentum in the 20th century, new musical styles such as expressionism, atonal style, neo-classicism and 12-tone music have appeared. One of the composers who represents those various styles and belongs to the second generation of Neue Musik is Ernst Krenek. He showed his originality through almost all the main trends of the 20th century, adding traditional factors like counterpoint, Sonata form, romantic and lyric melody to modem jazz, 12-tone technique and reformed, developed serialism. In this thesis, I analyzed E.Krenek's early music - piano sonata no. 1, op. 2, which we might say was influenced by R.Strauss or G.Mahler's post- romantic idiom. This Sonata was composed at the end of his youth in Vienna. Its general structure follows classical style, but its contents have many post-romantic factors. On the other hand, the tonality is clarified at first, but it becomes vague becouse of continuous modulation, and that prefigures E. Krenek's atonal style. The first movement is in the Sonata-Allegro form and comparatively speaking follows traditional sonata form. Chromatic progressions, conjunctions and disjunctions are also properly presented. The second movement is in The three-part form of c minor, the relative key of the first movement, and there are often tempo changes like the first movement, and motivational materials of the first movement are restated and developed. The main key of E^(b) Major returns at the third movement, and the third movement is in Third Rondo form. Unlike the first and the second movements, there is no change of beat, and chromatic progression and sequential progression are presented generally in this work. In conclusion, E.Krenek's musical style is the diverse aesthetic approaches displayed in his work and the succession of continual trasformations.
