Maurice. Ravel의 연가곡 "She´he´razade"에 관한 연구

Abstract

This thesis paper is a study of "Seherzade" by Maurice Joseph Ravel(1875-1937). Greatly influenced by Debussy, Ravel is classified as all Impressionist composer. In particular, his earlier compositions; reveal much of Debussy's influence. On the other hand, through indefinite key relationship and sonority variation, Ravel maintained independence from the complex style of his predecessor. Ravel excelled Debussy in orchestration. Most of Ravel's orchestral pieces consisted of dance and theater music including piano pieces recomposed for the orchestra. Accordingly, "Sheherazade" is also one of the orchestral pieces transformed from a piano composition. This thesis analyzes his song cycle "Sheherazade" through the notes of piano composition. Composed. in 1903, it is considered as one of his earliest compostitions, and it consists of three parts. Due to Ravel's long time interest in the Orient, Ravel adopts a poem by Tristan Klingsor(l8740-1966) to give this musical piece an exotic sentiment. The exotic and Spanish semtiment of the composition is reflected through his use of Gypsy scale, five tone scale and diatonic: scale. The liberal use of 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th cords which are difficult to solve: through harmonics beyond triad; the discordant tone and the perfect 5th parallel movement give strength to the uniqueness of his atmosphere. In order to accentuate the melody, emphasis is given to the accompanying musical instrument instead of the vocal part, and as a result, this arrangement gives a poetic quality to the music. Furthermore, this music bears a scenic quality through its lyrical portrayal of the Orient. In general, the vocal melody bears a speaking format while the chromatic melody conveys a poetic mood and message. Although these qualities do not represent Ravel's tranditional orientation, this form of musical style is one of his representative ones. Aprt from other composers, Ravel excelled in his sense of color, and his compositions were based on traditional harmony and Classical rules. As a result, his compositions retained a definite structure and lines notwithstanding the fact that his music did not rely on C1assical methodology. As a result of his syllabic voice line, his use of speaking style, the constant tempo variation and the use of speed, this composition requires a detailed study prior to its performance. Through this thesis, it was possible to study the specifics and the repertoires of Ravel's vocal music, and this composition is an exemplar of his use of harmony, scale, key relationship, tempo and speed.;Maurice Joseph Ravel (1875-1937)은 Claude Debussy(1862-1918)와 함께 20C전반의 프랑스 가곡의 대표적 작곡가로 알려지고 있으며, 특히 그의 가곡은 민속적, 이국적, 동양적 소재를 주요 내용으로 하면서도 인상주의적 신비감을 표출하고 있다. 본 논문은 그가 남긴 40여곡의 가곡 중 피아노 반주로 된 연가곡 "She'he'razade"를 중심으로 그의 가곡의 특징을 살펴 보았다. "She'he'razade" 는 1903년에 완성된 라벨의 초기 작품으로 3곡으로 이루어져 있고, 가사는 Tri-stan Klingsor(1874-1966)의 시로 어려서부터 동양에 관심이 많았던 라벨의 이국적 정취를 알 수 있게 한다. 본 연구는 "Sheherazade"의 가사 해석, 성악 선율및 반주부, 화성구조 및 전조, 리듬, 악상, 음계등에 관한 일반적인 특징을 종합하고, 3개의 가곡을 분석하는 내용으로 이루어져 있으며, 그 결과 다음과 같은 특징을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 각 곡은 통절형식의 구조로 가사에 따라 다양하게 전개되고, 성악 선율은 순차진행의 동음 반복으로 이야기하는 듯한 느낌을 살리는 기법이 가장 두드러지게 사용된다. 반주부는 전주, 간주, 후주를 가지고 곡의 전반적 분위기를 제시하며, 같은 반주 형태의 지속적 사용과 주요 선율을 반주에 두어 곡 전체에 재현시키는 방법으로 곡의 통일성을 유지 하고 있다. 음악 어법을 전통적 화성 진행을 기초로 하면서 반음계적 진행, 원격 전조및 빠른 전조, 잦은 박자의 변화와 교차 박자의 사용으로 다양한 변화를 보이며, 7, 9화음의 사용과 짚시 음계, 5음 음계, 선법등의 사용으로 인상주의 신비함과 색채감을 살리고 있다. 이 곡은 라벨의 특징적 여러 요소들이 잘 나타난 곡으로 본 논문의 "She'he'razade" 를 연주 하고자하는 성악가에게 많은 도움이 되도록 필자는 연구했다.
