Abstract
Titanium is the metals of choice in dental applications because of good mechanical properties. To maximize the effect of dental implant, Surface modification of Ti with anodic oxidation and electrospinning of collagen nanofiber was suggested. Titanium discs were prepared anodic oxidized treatment(anodized disc) and nontreatmnet(machined disc). Collagen was dissolved in 1,1,1,3,3,3, Hexafluoro-2-Propanol(HFP) at 8%(w/v) and electrospun to disc at different times. After electrospinning, collagen nanofiber coated Ti discs were cross-linked by treatment with 25% glutaraldehyde vapor. Collagen quantification test and stability test were followed. And human osteoblast-like cells (HOS) were used for cell attachment assays. Electrospinning of collagen using HFP as a solvent get continuous collagen nanofibers that mean diameter is 200nm. After crosslinking treatment, mean diameter and roughness was slightly increased. Collagen loading doses are 0.2mg to 0.8mg. Collagen nanofiber coated Ti implant surface potentially improved initial cell attachment. Collagen coating with electrospinning method might be an effective tool to provide cell compatible surface.
