Alban Berg의「Fünf Orchester-Lieder」Op. 4 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 독일 및 유럽을 중심으로 한 20세기 현대음악의 대표적 작곡가 알반 베르크(Alban Berg, 1885-1935)의 5개의 관현악 노래「Fünf Orchester-Lieder」 Op. 4에 관한 연구이다. 베르크는 쇤베르크(Anold Schönberg, 1874-1951)와 베베른(Anton von Webern, 1883-1945)과 함께 12음 음계, 표현주의와 무조음악을 완성시킨 <제2 빈 악파>중 한사람이다. 베베른이 철두철미한 원칙 아래 12음 기법을 고수하여 간결한 작품 양식을 보인 것에 반해 베르크는 쇤베르크의 구성 방법을 대부분 채용하되 12음 음계를 자유롭게 사용했으며, 가끔 화성적인 면에서 조성적 울림을 갖는 화음의 진행을 허용하는 음렬들을 선호하였다. 또한 그는 12음 기법에 온화한 낭만적 정서를 결합하여 다른 12음 작곡가들의 음악보다 더 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 하였다. 베르크의 「Fünf Orchester-Lieder」 Op. 4는 12음 기법이 생기기 전인 1912년에 작곡된 무조 음악으로써, 5개의 짧은 관현악반주로 된 표현주의적 가곡이다. 1912년, 알텐베르크 (Peter Altenberg 1859-1919)의 「8번째 시집」(Neues Altes, 1911) 중 「그림엽서 같은 악보」(Texte Auf Ansichts karten)에서 가져온 5개의 시를 기초로 하여 작곡된 이 연가곡은 1913년 3월 31일 쇤베르크의 지휘로 2번째와 4번째 곡이 빈에서 연주되었고, 전곡은 1952년에 초연되었다. 이 작품은 대규모의 관현악곡이나 모든 악기가 tutti로 출현하는 곳은 제 1곡의 첫 번째 부분 밖에 없으며, 나머지 부분에서는 몇 개의 악기들이 번갈아 나오고 있다. 전체적으로는 조성적인 인상을 풍기는 온음음계에 입각한 선율과 화성이 무조의 느낌을 주는 반음계, 완전 4도 중심의 반주와 함께 쓰였고 음군(cluster), sprechgesang등의 기법은 전통적인 가곡양식에서 벗어난 20세기 현대 가곡의 특징을 보여준다. 처음부터 마지막까지 나타나는 이러한 일관적인 음악 요소는 베르크가 낭만적인 정서 안에서 새로운 기법을 사용한 작곡가임을 드러낸다.;This thesis is an analytical study on five orchestral music <Fünf Orchester-Lieder> Op.4 of Alban Berg, who is a representative composer of the 20th century music. Berg is one of the Second Viennese composers who, along with Anold Schönberg(1874-1951) and Anton von Webern(1883-1945), had completed atonality, twelve-tone music with expressionism. Berg had took very much of Schönberg's compositions and at times, in regard of harmonic aspects, preferred serialism with tonal implication whereas Webern kept strict twelve-tone technique and composed concise works. Berg had also added amiable, romantic sentiments to twelve-tone technique so that Berg's music be easier to approach the listeners than other composers' twelve-tone technique works. <Fünf Orchester-Lieder> Op.4, an atonal music that was composed in 1912 before twelve-tone technique appeared, is an expressionistic music with five short orchestral accompaniment. The poems of the <Fünf Orchester-Lieder> Op.4, are from all the Peter Altenberg(1859-1919)'s 「Texte Auf Ansichtskarten」 Neues Altes(1911)'s 8th poem collection. All the five songs were first performed in 1952. The part where the massive orchestra and all other instruments appear as a tutti is only the 1st part of the first song 「Seele, wie bist du schöner」. In other parts, several instruments come in turn. Overall, melody and hamorny fased on whole-tone scales are often used in this work. Immitative contrapunctal textures influenced by Schönberg are also appeared in <Fünf Orchester-Lieder> Op.4 special techniques of tone cluster, sprechgesang far Techniques of cluster, sprechgesang far from classic but shows 20 century's modern style. The coherent musical elements introduced above reveal Berg as a representative composer of the innovative 20th century composer technique with romantic sentiment.
