J.S. Bach의 Sonata BWV 1034 및 C.T. Griffes의 Poem for Flute and orchestra에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 바로크 시대의 대표적 작곡가인 Johan Sebastian Bach와 20세기 미국 작곡가인 Charles Tomlinson Griffes의 작품에 대한 연구이다. 이들의 작품 중 필자의 석사 과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회에서 연주하였던 flute작품을 선택하여 작곡가의 일반적인 음악 배경과 각 작품의 구죠, 특징적인 선율, 화성 그리고 리듬적 요소들을 중심으로 살펴보았다. J.S. Bach의 Flute Sonata BWV 1034는 4악장으로 된 교회 소나타(sonata da chiesa)양식으로 되어 있으며, 1악장은 3부분 형식(AA'A"), 2악장은 fugue, 3악장은 ABA의 3부분 형식으로, 그리고 4악장은 2부분 형식으로 되어 있다. 각 악장들은 flute의 16분음표 음형들이 변형·전위·반복 및 동형 진행의 형태로 나타난다. Charles Tomlinson Griffes의 Poem for Flute and Orchestra는 sonata form으로 쓰여진 곡으로 짧고 단조로운 재현부와는 대조적으로 긴 발전부로 되어 있다. 각 부분들은 다양한 화음을 바탕으로 주제가 flute과 orchestra에서 변형, 반복되어 사용되었다.;In this thesis, Flute Sonata BWV of J.S. Bach and the Poem for Flute and Orchestra of C.T. Griffes were analyzed. There are the main pieces that were performed by the researching graduate recital. Form criteries of the selected pieces were studied, there are informal structure, melody, harmony, and compositional background. The result examined through analysis is as follow; Flute Sonata BWV 1034 of J.S. Bach is in sonata da chiesa style consisting of 4 movements. The first movement is a ternary form(AA'A"). The second movement is a fugue. The third movement is also ternary(ABA). And the fourth movement is binary form (AB). Fast passages using sixteenth notes, unpredictable harmonic change, and frequent use of sequences are the three typical features of the composition. C.T.Griffes' Poem for Flute and Orchestra is one movement piece compose on a sonata form. This piece has a long development section that often found in the works of Beethoven. A typical feature of this piece other than the long development section, is use of a very short and contrasting recapitulation section. In short, Griffes' piece uses various harmonic structures as a means of developing thematic materials, and a technique of alterating solo instrument with orchestral parts.
