Francis Poulenc의 <Air Chante's>를 중심으로 한 성악곡의 연구

Abstract

France Poulenc은 20세기 초 불란서 예술가곡의 대표적인 작곡가이다. 그는 당시의 시대적 상황을 대변하는 초현실주의 시와 피아노 반주의 효과적인 결합으로 다수의 성공작을 낳았다. Poulenc은 이국적 정취와 함께 리듬과 화성이 가볍고 화려한 작품 뿐만아니라 종교적 재인식에 따른 심오하고 극적인 작품까지 다양하게 표현했다. 그의 작품은 당시 20세기 음악과는 달리 분명한 조성과 박자를 지니며 선율선이 단순하고, 리듬형의 반복 동형진행으로 음악적 동일성을 이룬다. 그밖에 자주 등장하는 피아노의 pedal 사용과 staccato 음형의 효과적인 처리는 곡의 다양한 분위기를 조성한다. 본 논문은 제Ⅱ장 Poulenc의 성악곡에 대한 전반적인 이해를 위해 음악적 배경이 되는 6인조 (Les Six)와 Eric Satie의 영향 및 초현실주의 시와의 관계를 알아보며 145곡의 성악 작품중 120여곡이 모음집과 연가곡집에 수록되어 있는데 이 작품을 5시기로 나누어 음악적 특징과 유형을 살펴보고자 한다. 필자는 졸업연주회에서 <Air Chante′s>를 연주하였는데 제 Ⅲ장 Air Chante′s의 분석에서는 작품배경과 시의 내용을 밝히며, 작품별 분석을 통하여 Poulenc이 사용한 고전적 양식과 독자적인 기법을 소개하고자 한다.;Francis Poulenc, who was a representative composer of the French Me´lodie in the early 20^(th) century, produced a number of succesful works by efficiently connecting piano accompaniment and surrealistic poems which prevailed at his time. His works range from the ones exhibiting an exotic mood achieved by light and brilliant rhythm and harmony, to the ones with deep and dramatic character expressing his thoughts on religion. Unlike the musical trend of the 20^(th) century, works have distinct tonalities and meters. The unity of his music is achieved by simple melodic lines and musical repetition. The frequent use of the pedal in piano accompaniment and effective treatment of staccato accomplish various and distinctive moods in his musical works. In chapter Ⅱ, "The Comprehensive Understanding of Poulenc's Songs", emphases are given to the influences of Eric Satie and 'Les Six' as his musical base, and to his relationship to surrealistic poems. His vocal works total 145, most of which are conposed as song cycles. They are divided into five periods, and the characteristics of each period are examined in this thesis. In chapter Ⅲ, "The Analysis of <Air Chante´s>, which I performed at my graduate recital, the contents of the poems as well as the background of the works are clarified. At the same time, through the analysis of each song the classical style he used and his original techniques are studied.
