L. H. Berlioz의 "Les nuits d'ete"에 관한 연구

Abstract

Berlioz was one of the representative composers of French nineteenth century Romantic music. His passionate artistic ability and musical talent are well reflected in his program music and dramatic music. He revitalized the form of romance, which had fallen into disuse, through more musically and technically advanced vocal music which he called 'me´lodie'. Berlioz contributed greatly to the development of orchestration and the introduction of individual musical instruments with his book 'Traite de l'instrumentation et d'orchestration morderness(1844)'. The Song-cycle (Les nuits d'e´te´) consists of most characteristic pieces among his 52 songs While it was originally written for voice and piano, sixteen years later he arranged the work for voice and orchestra The orchestrated version became ever more recognized for its excellent orchestration and musical techniques. The purpose of this study is to look into the Romanticism which provided the musical background of Berlioz's vocal music and the process by which his melodies were written. After classifying his vocal music into three periods, his varied musical language is briefly considered. In chapter 3 in the analysis of (Les nuits d'e´te´)the background to the work and the relation of poetry to music are also explored. Through the analysis of the six songs, the elements of program music which are included, and his unique musical language, are introduced.;베를리오즈 (Louis Hector Berlioz:1803∼1869)는 19세기 프랑스 낭만음악의 대표자로 예술가적 개성과 음악적 표현능력을 표제음악과 극음악에 나타낸 작곡가이다. 그는 당시 쇠퇴하던 로망스 (romance)의 잔해를 멜로디 (me´lodie)라는 가곡양식으로 새로이 발전시켰을 뿐만 아니라, '근대악기법과 관현악법' (Trait e´ de 1'instrumentation et d'orchestration modernes;1844)을 통해 개별적인 악기를 소개·개발하는데 크게 공헌했다. 그의 50여곡에 이르는 성악곡 중 (여름밤 (Les nuits d'e′te′))은 성악과 피아노 반주로 작곡되었으나 후에 관현악 반주로 편곡되어, 선율 및 음악 어법에 있어서 더욱 뛰어난 작품으로 인정받게 되었다. 본 논문은 Ⅱ장에서 Berlioz 성악작품의 전반적인 이해를 위해 음악적 배경이 되는 낭만주의와 melodie 형성 과정을 알아보고 그의 성악곡을 1.2.3기로 나누어 구분하여 소개하며, 다양한 음악양식을 살펴보았다. 또한 제Ⅲ장 (Lea nuits d'e′te′)의 분석에서는 작품배경과 시의 내용을 밝히며 작품별 분석을 통하여 Berlioz의 표제음악적 요소 및 그의 음악어법을 소개하는 것이다. 필자는 이 논문에서 시와 음악의 결합을 통한 음악적 접근을 시도함으로써 연주자가 곡을 해석하는데 많은 도움이 되었으면 한다.
